Yesterday was a pretty nasty day around these parts. Cold, rain, sleet, snow, and wind. Lots and lots of wind. Didn’t get a whole lot accomplished, but I at least managed to go to the Tractor Supply store and use my 15% off coupon for a back blade and carry-all for my 3-point hitch. More money gone. I feel like a cashophiliac – hemorrhaging cash at an alarming rate. Oh well. I’m actually looking forward to getting out there and plowing the driveway (though I better dig out my insulated coveralls and my Elmer Fudd hat).
Fortunately, today is supposed to be a bit nicer (and a little warmer), and we’ve scaled back our fence plans a bit, so that we can have an area for the dogs to run around and stay out of trouble while we work on fencing in the rest of the place.
Speaking of work, I guess I better get my Home Depot list together and get crackin’.
Maybe while you’re at it you should release the Kracken also

Just three days after the U.S. Coast Guard admiral in charge of the BP oil spill cleanup declared little recoverable surface oil remained in the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana fishers Friday found miles-long strings of weathered oil floating toward fragile marshes on the Mississippi River delta.
The discovery, which comes as millions of birds begin moving toward the region in the fall migration, gave ammunition to groups that have insisted the government has overstated clean-up progress, and could force reclosure of key fishing areas only recently reopened.

A conservative group founded by Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, removed references to the “unconstitutional” healthcare law from its website on Thursday and blamed staff errors for statements indicating the group believed the law should be struck down.

Those terrible staffers who seem to plague those poor Republicans. Of course we should not think this in anyway foretells how ol’ Clarence will vote.
This week’s news that his wife, Virginia, had left voice mail for Anita Hill, asking her to apologize for “what you did with my husband†at the confirmation hearings, gave Ms. McEwen an unexpected opportunity to talk about Justice Thomas, the man she was romantically involved with for “six or seven years†in the 1980s. The phone call, she said in an interview Friday, makes sense to her.

But Ms. McEwen said she knew a different Clarence Thomas, one whom she recognized in the 1991 testimony of Ms. Hill, who claimed that he had repeatedly made inappropriate sexual comments to her at work, including descriptions of pornographic films.
Ms. McEwen said that pornography for Justice Thomas was “just a part of his personality structure.†She said he kept a stack of pornographic magazines, “frequented a store on Dupont Circle that catered to his needs,†and allowed his interest in pornography to bleed into his professional relationships.

I guess Mrs. Thomas will be making another phone call.
Larry Haverfield, the 74-year-old rancher on whose land the colony thrives, went to court to stop commissioners in Logan County from exterminating the prairie dogs without his permission, despite a 1901 state law that allows them to do so. Last month, the judge hearing the case here sided with Mr. Haverfield and Gordon Barnhardt, who also owns some of the land.
“It’s important because it says the Endangered Species Act trumps a 100-year-old state law that forces the extermination of prairie dogs,†said the men’s lawyer, Randy Rathbun

Didn’t even know it was happening but all I can say is I hope it is a great day for Orange (and Black) everywhere.
And good luck to the Sooners tonight. What’s a OKat to do unless News Corpse is screwing your cable company, too?
It will be a busy remote night tonight!
I’m almost too nervous to watch the Giants!
I guess DISH just pulled TBS today. I went there to check out the Giants game and is was showing some kind of black soap opera-menu still showing Giants playoffs :fustrate:
Congratulations to pj and Okat for the new (?), newer(?) houses.
This game is on fux network which has been fighting with cables lately, not tbs. I did just see a Direct banner on the local outlet.
