I have to go in to work for half a day today. That sucks. Yesterday was a great day – warm and sunny – and I got some tractor time in as I started clearing a trail through my woods. Many hours of fun there – I hope winter decides not to kick in until late this year. Oh well, I guess I’ll get going. The sooner I get there, the sooner I can leave.
Yesterday the boss called to ask me to work 2 more days…I turned her down. I would have said yes if the school were a nice one or was not in the Bronx. The commute from Red Hook to the Bronx is at least an hour, more if the traffic is heavier.
The election is Tuesday. I’m going to vote for Cuomo on the Working Families line. They need to get 50,000 votes for governor on their line to secure a ballot spot for the next two years.
I’m not thrilled with Cuomo but I liked his father. Perhaps he’ll channel Mario after he gets elected.
WFP should have gone with Howie.
Howie isn’t going to win so the best I can do is help WFP keep their ballot line.

It is not too soon to consider what we’ve learned from the 2010 elections.
This is actually an old journalism trick. If you want to do a retrospective of an important event, it is really much better to do it well before the appropriate date, when you have the field all to yourself. I learned this from one of my first editors, who made me write a year-later piece about a famous murder a little more than nine months after the crime occurred. It was a big success.

i remember roxieseattle fondly.
we would talk on the phone, she was a wonderful and brilliant lady, good hearted too.
got to admit that one of the reasons i post less frequently is i don’t want to bump Rox from the Top 25 Posters list. as long as her names there shes a member of the family, rememberd and appreciated for what she meant to us, at least to me.
i’d like it if we could have an “Absent Friends” panel on the right side bar.
love you all.
Congratulations, PJ. A new house, a new tractor and top of the Morning Seditionist poster’s heap.
SJ, I only knew RoxieSeattle in cyberspace, but I miss her presence. Susan Joy too.
I can see a Top 30 or even better, a Top 44 in the future.
ya i miss Susan Joy too.
we’ve all had the joy of our friendships here.
i’ve come to realise how rare that is in most peoples lives.

Again, history cries out at the absence of Mort Mortenson 😥
Nope, Howie isn’t gonna win, but if the Green Party gets 50,000 votes, then they’ll get to keep their ballot space. I vote WFP, and I’m sure they’ll get what they need, but, unlike the Greens, they don’t run their own candidates. And, while I’d vote for Cuomo in a close race, I really don’t like him very much.
