Yesterday’s thread was getting a bit long, so I figured we might as well have a new thread for today. What the hell – it’s Orthodox Christmas. ? ?????????? ?????????!
Coming up on today’s talking head shows:
On NBC’s Press the Meat, Timmy the Potatohead (why don’t they dump this asshole and put Olbermann on instead) has NY Times reporter James Risen, who broke the story about the illegal Bush domestic spying plot, Chucky Schumer and John Cornyn are scheduled to talk about Jack Abramoff’s plea deal, as well as tell us how Scalito will get asked lots of real tough questions this week, before the Democrats give him a pass so they don’t look like a bunch of meanies, and a cat fight between Kate Michelman and nutsy-cuckoo Kate O’Beirne over abortion rights.
It’s more Scalito and Abramoff on CBS’s Face the Nation, as Bob Schieffer has Arlen Specter and fellow deadhead Pat (not the Jets old kicker) Leahy, plus somebody named Jan Crawford Greenburg, who’s billed as a Legal Analyst from the Chicago Tribune.
Over on ABC it’s – you guessed it – more Scalito and Abramoff on This Week with George Snuffalufagus as Teddy Kennedy and Sam Brownback Mountain join the Rumptable Regulars: douchebag George Will, snotty bitch Cookie Roberts, Fareed “Token” Zakaria and asshole David Brooks.
Fox News Sunday Morning will put its unique spin on Scalito, Abramoff, and Spying on US Citizens, with Lindsey Graham, Dianne Feinstein, and Jane Harman. Bush apologist Charles Krauthammer will lick some Bush ass, Mara Liasson and Juan Williams will provide the faux liberal, NPR’ish side of things, and everybody’s favorite whacko Bill Kristol of the Moonie Times will be there, too. And, if we’re lucky, maybe little snotface Chris Wallace will call his dad a traitor and crazy old fucker with Alzheimer’s again.
CNN’s Sunday Morning has, oh hell, who really gives a shit what CNN has on anymore?
60 Minutes has NYPD detective (and alleged mafia hitman) Stephen Caracappa, plus the new Sony CEO (whoppdie doo) and – in some earth-shattering news reporting, a story on “unorthodox, some would say unsafe, U.S. skiing sensation Bode Miller….”
On the bright side, it’s all-new episodes of The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad.
Mornin’ /evening,
Hey pj: this is the official Freewayblogger site
The other site is new and is his daily blog….

ANV – OK, thanks. What a twisted story.
Hey Kong and ANV! Kong: Sent you a couple emails…
I’m gonna go back to work on editing these shows and workin’ on the blog. I taught two classes today. 2 hours each and an hour apart in distance. My own students. Good people. One grandfather gave me a bottle of 15 year old Okinawan Shochu (rice wine). A full day. I’m beat.
Morning!:omg:
I see that I am the only one here.
Circulate those tapes!:nixon:
Why does everything suck?:???:
Because corporations rule!

Baker’s Dozen (Lucky 13.)
Hey, ANV. Thanks for those links. I first heard the story on Monday or Tuesday, but the only thing I could find online was on the NY Post site–but you had to sign up in order to read the article, and I was not about to dignify that rag by giving them my info.
My husband has a coworker whose last name is Islam . . . the last time he went to visit his wife in Bangladesh, he was detained long enough to miss his flight and had to wait two days to get on another. (Nice way to spend your vacation, huh.) I thought the piece might make him feel a teeny bit better.
Good Morning Seditionists. I think I will peruse the allies for signage material and make some pretty signs today.
No, that wasn’t me that called Malloy’s show Nicki. I might know who she is though.
good evening :yinyang: morning everyone.
This may or may not blow your mind. I put up a blog post of lots of the bumper music played on the Air America shows. It has clickable links to snippets of songs or the whole song for everything I collected.
http://mobjectivist.blogspot.com/2006/01/air-america-bumper-music.html
I stll need to find the other outro theme music for Morning Sedition. Something by the group Cake perhaps?
Checkin’ in before bedtime. I posted the last rapture watch found here The Era And I posted Frank Rich’s recent article as well. Get it while it’s still hot! Here
And WHT: Nice research! Can I download those like mp3’s?
Sorry, I’m a mac user and the files are wmp…..
Go to http://www.atrios.blogspot.com and click on the link for a video of Howard Dean with Wolf Blitzer! Dean has his facts down cold and all Blitzer can do is let out an audible sigh and say “unfortunately, we have to leave it there.” Hilarious.
J’adore Frank Rich!
Ok, guys, my computer finally went KAPUT! 🙁 I’m using my son’s computer that he made. Man is this thing fast. Don’t much like being in the teenager’s room….don’t know what I’ll find lurking. :omg:
Sometime next week I’m going to trot up to the Apple store and become a convert. Windows is way too congested and has a weak immune system for my druthers. Wish I didn’t need to spend the $$ but, man, I’ve been limping along for a year now. My computer was never the same after a nasty virus.
Horribly deadly time in Iraq. Mr. Farmerkat should be on Nightly tonight if ya’all is interested in seeing his crusty face.(I say that with love! PJ -> where’s a love emoticon???)
Thanks for the counterpunch articles yeasterday. Good discussions on our little arc.
oh, boy:
(AP) More journalists and media staffers have been killed during the Iraq war than during 22 years of conflict in Vietnam, Reporters Without Borders said Wednesday

Murdoch bought and is now censoring MySpace. I’m not a MySpace user (a bit past their typical demographic age, I’m sorry to say), but if I was, I’d sure as hell boycott them.
They eventually caved, but then deleted the blog where members complained about the original censorship.
Bastids.
Hey Farmerkat, what network will Mr. Farmerkat be on?
So Murdoch is getting his grubby hands onto the internet huh. :rant1:
Hey Farmerkat.
You mentioned that Mr. Farmerkat “witnessed” the Ariel Sharon’s directed massacres at Sabra and Shatilla. I am curious: What was he doing in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon in 1982? :jesus:
OK. Mr. Is a journalist. I need to pay more attention.
Thanks isi for that clip. That was GREAT! :alc:
Shut yer pie hole Blitzer!
Set your ReplayTV’s. Tuesday, January 17 at 11 AM Eastern on Comedy Central:
I just heard on ABC Radio News that Ahmet Ali Aca, the person who shot Pope John Paul ll in 1981, will soon be releasesd from a Turkish prison. Induction into theTurkish Army may be in store for him, according to ABC. The army has incredible power in Turkey.
In Turkey, older dissidents are sometimes clamped down on by the government through forcing them into the military. Turkey’s greatest modern poet, Nazim Hikmet, after spending 12 years in prison “for inciting [through his poetry] the armed forces to revolt,” was ordered into military service on the Soviet frontier. He was 50 years old. (Luckily, he escaped, to permanent European exile.)
Of course, I am not comparing the convicted would-be-assassin Aca with the great Hikmet. But, hell, the man did his time.
ANGINA PECTOTIS
If half my heart is here, doctor,
the other half is in China
with the army flowing
toward the Yellow River.
And every morning, doctor,
every morning at sunrise my heart
is shot in Greece.
And every night, doctor,
when the prisoners are asleep and the infirmary is deserted,
my heart stops at a run-down old house
in Istanbul.
And then after ten years
all I have to offer my poor people
is this apple in my hand, doctor,
one red apple:
my heart.
And that, doctor, that is the reason
for this angina pectoris–
not nicotine, prison, or arteriosclerosis.
I look at the night through the bars,
and despite the weight on my chest
my heart still beats with the most distant stars.
Nazim Hikmet

On the repeat broadcast today, Randi Rhodes stated that she does not discuss Israel and the Middle East “because you can’t win the argument.” Meaning that opinions are like assholes. Her attitude is a common one among liberals. Anyway, she shpuld simply look at the facts. What are the relevant UN documents? Who is occupying whom? Which nation is vetoing every important resolution on the issue? Who is ignoring the UN resolutions.
Of course, there is a consensus in this country that there cannot be peace, along the international guidelines (UN 242-based) for a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. Randi’s militant ignorance is symptomatic of the consensus. (I am not picking on Randi; we are all tainted by the dangerous bias.):peace:
Bumper music.
I swear to god that snippets from The Breeders “CannonBall” were used on Morning Sedition. Please hip me on my error, hipsters.

Oh yeah, Cannonball was definitely a bit of bumper music they used. That bass line will wake anyone up in the morning. Will add it, thanks.
Here is a Real Audio of the entire song,

farmerkat: I just read the Editor and Publisher Article. First I had heard about it. Do you think we will know the truth anytime soon about the people behind the kidnapping? If she was going to a meeting with the Sunni’s I guess several groups wouldn’t want that to happen? Glad you are blogging.
WHT – Cool post. My mind is blown.
“Bounce Your Boobies” sounds WAY out of context on a Sunday evening at home, as opposed to 3:07 on Friday at work.
“It’s Friday, you bastards!”
hello Seditionists!!!
just checking in and seeing what’s goin on. Damn Fred, that ACLU pizza thing was scary…mainly because it’s probably already going on.:rant1:
hey! thanks WHT for the Bumper Music list
Good evening, blog sibs. Just sliding on by. I need to sew a whole lot of stuff today and don’t have time to go recipe hunting.
I’m too old for Myspace but that doesn’t stop me from being pissed about this. Murdoch, feh!
I think my black beans are done. So I have to stop posting and instead of finishing off that :rant1: hem I have to go deal with the stove. Oh, the weekend is never long enough!
Phyllis Bennis, a very knowledgeable writer/journalist on the Middle East is soon to be on Laura Flander Show.:peace:
Harry Belafonte is calling it like it is! Check this out from ABC news:
“CARACAS, Venezuela Jan 8, 2006 — The American singer and activist Harry Belafonte called President Bush “the greatest terrorist in the world” on Sunday and said millions of Americans support the socialist revolution of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.
Belafonte led a delegation of Americans including the actor Danny Glover and the Princeton University scholar Cornel West that met the Venezuelan president for more than six hours late Saturday and attended his television and radio broadcast on Sunday.
“No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we’re here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people … support your revolution,” Belafonte told Chavez during the broadcast.”

Wow, Belafonte!
any way to listen to the bumper music without real player? teenager won’t allow on his computer…
isi – news organizations don’t want to make it a topic so the stakes don’t raise. Poor woman.
QuietGirl, was that the Interlude mix by Danger Mouse that they played as bumper music?
Most everything is Windows WMA, so if you have that disabled, not much I can do.
Hey Farmerkat, see if teenager is willing to install Real Alternative.
WHT, i think the songs they use from the album were Public Service Announcement (hee hee) and Allure.
I like the idea of mixing the Black Album by JayZ and the White Album by the Beatles, therefore the Gray Album.
Oh well, I could only find the whole bit torrent anyways.
okay…this is a test WHT..see if this works.
click here for public service announcement
huzzah!! the link works.
okay then…..here’s Allure
