Oops. Went off to Home Depot and forget to put something up. So, like, Happy Sunday.
Thinking of going to Lowe’s or Cole Valley Hardware myself to get some switches. I am going to replace a couple of broken light foxtures and take out all of my dimmers. They are getting old, one went out, they are possibly a health hazard, and I don’t much have the need for mood lighting these days. Since I have to cut the power off, I might as well change all of the fuses as well.
I may wait until Monday, though, so I can miss the weekend fix-it crowd. Then again, Monday has the beginning of the week contractor rush. Maybe Tuesday. No, lunch date with an out of town friend.
:tap: 💡 😕 ❓
Home Depot can be quite beguiling.
The snow has pretty much disappeared here on Shelter Island and it has begun to rain. We are headed for Brooklyn and what awaits us there remains to be seen. A neighbor called and said we should have no trouble driving and a little digging should provide a parking space. I can only hope.
another sunny day here, just below freezing in temp.
the doggerz wanted back in after a few minutes.
we’re lazing around with coffee and the paper.
Just as the neighbor said, the streets are passable and some shoveling got us a parking space. Not bad,
Hubby and I went to the bank this evening. Hubby left first and as I followed a couple of seconds later, I watched him get into the car and drive away. I assumed he was driving to the corner so I could get in without climbing the mounds of snow that are piled at the edge of the sidewalks.
But, he didn’t stop at the corner, or at the opposite corner. He just kept going. That’s when I realized he had forgotten me but he didn’t figure it out until he got a call from me on his cell phone. When he answered, he was surprised I was calling because he thought I was in the car.

Don’t leave the grand-kids with him, sp. :rofl2:
Oh, and do you carry a snow shovel in your trunk?
Even if I had a snow shovel, I wouldn’t cop to it here in :kub: ville unless maybe it was orange.
and from Glennbeckistan…
Many errors spotted in Va. history texts
Is it Black Monday at the Home Depot?
I was reading a letter to the editor in the NY Times, yesterday, in which the writer complained that the outstanding high schools in NYC have a very small percentage of children of color when the system, itself, is predominantly populated by children of color. It reminded me that NYC schools are segregated. There are many schools whose populations are 100% black and/or Latino. In 1952 the supreme court recognized that there was no such thing as separate but equal.
We like to ignore evidence of this, too. Schools that are predominantly white do very well. Their test scores are excellent. But, instead of seeing what is before their eyes, the school authorities assume they just have better teachers.
To admit some of the real problems would be just too difficult. So, in all schools we relentlessly focus on testing. A textbook full of factual errors would be no problem because all we care about if whether the kid can read it and answer the multiple choice test questions.
In Texas and other southern states they want to fill the kid’s head with misinformation. If they simply followed NYC practices they could keep them ignorant and folks like Arne Duncan would award them much moola in the race to the top.
I hope PJ just forgot about us and that nothing is wrong.
I guess if my husband could forget that I was not in the car, anything is possible.
Sadly, the recurring saga of the septic system took precedence this morning. I am cautiously optimistic that tomorrow will be a better day.
I’m glad you are OK, PJ. You have all my sympathy for your septic plumbing woes.
I was afraid maybe RG left you standing on the side of the road somewhere.
Glad you’re OK but you look a little flushed.
:crap:
Too soon?
Too lame?
I was saving Honey West for you.
:hubba: 🙁 :gate:
According to Antonin Scalia. the constitutional guarantee of equal protection does not extend to women. Oh, you men are just so lucky.
