I hate the sports :barf::crap::fustrate:
I was trying to think of something clever, but nothing was sent my way…I have some somewhere. If only I could remember where I put it.
When are we going to hear about the new show? Somebody get Maron on the PHONE.
AAR….
I’m just kidding about the AAR
travisdem_04, I remember that Al Franken had on Friday’s Pirate Day saying AAR as the chant — that was when hope was alive
:40: (alc? or water?) — but to be safe :alc:
:fire:
pj: needs to furnish us a smiley face of the north end of a south bound horse then we would have a picture of Danny G.
fred, :rofl2:
:fire:
yeah Druid: Never drink alone
i want a sammy the stem cell smiley 🙁 :rant1:
:rabbi: i want to hear the self loathing jew on the radio again too!!!!!:rant1:
Sammy the stem cell smiley. That’s a good idea, but I think there’s probably some kind of law against it.
oh…i miss the misguided Hebrew as well:(:rabbi::banana::sdavid:
hello Seditionists!!!
how are things today? heavy drinking already…well if you insist:40::alc::40:
just remember: don’t drink and make drunken phone calls to EXs!
The anti abortionists have this disgusting picture of an aborted fetus they have on a 4 x 8 foot poster and carry around on the back of an old pickup truck.. I sort of doubt that that would work for Sammy.. but it might work for describing some of the rethugs we have heard from on C-span in the last few days. :barf::fustrate::rant1:
Cue Dream Diary music:
I’m asleep and the clock-radio goes off. It’s Marc! I can’t believe it–he has his own show and it’s on in the mornings! I catch only his voice, not the essence of what he’s saying, but it’s him! Then another voice comes on, no one I recognize, doing a screamingly slow news broadcast. Shut up! Shut up! I want to hear Marc!
I woke up, and my bed was filled with . . . hope.
Riley : !!!! SHUT UP !!!!
Is there any news that we should be made aware of before we start/finish the day?
Riley!! what the hell!
give us some hope man! or at least something funny about the Alito situation. :fustrate:
AAR has become a sports radio show, hasn’t it?
all they talk about are sports!!
:barf::barf::fustrate::mad::rant1: Ewwww. the sports again
citizen! that was awesome!
maybe we should all come up with a dream diary?
Ewwwwww the dry heaves… this day is off to a poor start.
I’ll think of a dream diary chapter when I crash. I have, like, 10 minutes in me. 15 tops.
aww….poor trav.
it’s so weird seeing you all konked out on meds and not ranting. 🙁
haha…yeah Fred, don’t you hate it when the day starts like that?
I have a very simple letter to bush — I am fighting with myself to send or not —
Bush, you LIAR!
You Bitch!
You Whore!
Many Died Due to your LIES!
or
:priest::pent:
Minion to the AntiChrist Bush 👿 — By YOUR ACTIONS you ARE DAMNED! :barf::barf::barf:
Since I most likely have a large “Fed file”, do think I will get arrested again, this time for not “respecting bush —- teehee
:fire:
:fire:
what!!!!!!!! more football!!! more sports!!!!
fred, the chunks are rising…:yuck:
And now the voice of fearless leader Ewwwwww:barf:
And more sports :barf::barf: Hurry up Rachel… hurry… hurry
No, I’m not really on meds anymore. I had some initially, but threw-up from it. So I tossed them out. I had something the other day, but I forgot what it was.
druid…send an email from a public library or something. i think bush would understand better then anyone else about not wanting to leave a papertrail.
Thanks, quietgirl. It was a real dream, but I couldn’t just write “last night I dreamed . . .” to my fellow Seditionists!
that’s good trav. hope you’re okay soon
wooo!! super bowl!! new england and the bears yeaaaaaah…….WHO THE HELL CARES!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry gang, I forget you are rising — it is my evening = :alc: tonight — to get ready for the fight to dismiss bush 2006ce.
:fire:

good evening :yinyang: morning seditionists.
sean – i always thought :40: WAS the sammy the stem cell smiley.
thanks again for the grey album lead. i downloaded it last night.
Yup, I’m just about out the door myself. I have to:yawn: oh man. I have to start 1984 again. I read a page last night and fell asleep. Did Mike or his wife read it?
I’m so slow.
How many goddamn times is riley going to say that it looks like alito is going to be voted in:mad::mad::fustrate:
Did dg make him drink the koolaid:!::!::?::?::?:
Jesus:omg::omg::!::!:
Ahhhh… the applied use of the mute button.. Assholes…
Between Riley, the sports and now Benderhole.. This has been a very bad start to this Friday.. Thanks a bunch AAR !!!

keep hope alive…don’t believe the hype and such.
i’ll check in later on :mrgreen::banana::nixon:
That is why I am pro medical :bong: = NO Kidney damage or liver damage or other horrid side affects. I am very flexible, but due to my extreme dance, I have major back pain and was given major pills, which I refuse to take. But I want to have my blood clean so I can proudly speak out against this stupid travesty.
Spirit :bong: 😀
:fire:
loser of the new year…., mark riley and everyone responsible for this irrelevant show:doh::mad:
you know, i didn’t think about this till just this minute, but ??, as in goldberg, is the japanese word for tick; as in mite.
Wang Hoo Suck? Is that the guy’s name for real? Jeez. At least it isn’t Hoo Suck Wang.
(That, of course, would be Danny Greenberg.)

:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
???That’s AWESOME Tom! Ahahahahahaha…….
Damn I miss MS! It’s just not the same! Riley bores me and I used to like Rachel before MS but after 2 hours of Riley’s speculations and elevator music I just can’t take another 2 hours of alternating shitty elevator music and Rachel’s speculations. Plus Kent’s just Kent…not Lawton. Oh well…I guess that I should remember that God loves me, so I should just deal with it.
WWWAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! it’s so hard!
riley was insufferable this morning. sports, alito going to be confirmed, a sports interview, dems are not going to stop the confirmation, more sports, a re-run of the sports interview, alito will be next supreme.
fellow seditionists, today’s show is the confirmation that riley’s show is pitiful and pathetic.
:fustrate:
might be worth a try, fred.
Crap. It’s friday the 13th. I just realized that. My dream diary(journal) is going to be strange.
Alaska doesn’t criminalize possession of:bong: but the thugs are after it this year.
I’m counting:sheep: see ya.
tom t in tokyo and fred: :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
gaijinda! jason and i have been looking for you. are you interested in our seditionists “meetup” next wednesday in shinjuku?
Sleep well Travisdem_04 I will be in my dreamstate soon, too ….
:fire:
foggyblue… I think AAR is now attempting to demoralize the left.. I have wondered that for some time now since they give no solutions just facts and otherwise useless information out to what has probably become the choir. Are they here just to get the left on drugs so they can’t organize ?? ( as if democrats were ever organized)
riley’s show: an ignominious end to what had once been a great morning show when he was teamed with maron.
(ignominious: conduct or character deserving or bringing disgrace or shame.)
thankyou methaz for the word ignominious. it’s coming in handy.
Hey Tom,
I posted on the other thread…Wednesday’s no good for me. What about Sunday?
Hey everyone….Gaijinda:I can do Sunday, but I don’t think tom t can….I have classes on Sunday till 4:00 and after that I’m free..:fire:
gaijinda – i just read that now. sunday is good for me too.
looks like the gang’s all here.
fred
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!
:fire:
This is pathetic…I just sent Marc a pitiful email asking him to PLEASE hurry up and inhabit the airwaves again for my sanity! Is that wrong? I love listening to old shows…but it’s not the same as streaming and then being greeted with the Chili Peppers and “I’m Marc Maron…it’s 6 past the hour and THIS is Morning Sedition!”:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
So Sunday at 8 in Shinjuku? Where do you want to meet?
Wait a moment…let’s see what tom t says, but yeah I’d be up for Sunday. There are a couple hubs there, the British pubs, that’s where I was thinking about going…
I think it’s the My City exit. I’ll check the maps…
gaijinda – i’ll post the details on the other blog.
fred, less than half of aar is relevant anymore. the guests on franken’s show (but exclude al himself), rhodes, malloy, seder/garafolo, and about half of the weekend shows.
aar could’ve been a contender!!!
AAR seems to be positioning itself in the middle with hosts like Riley, Springer and Franken. Rhodes is just redundant. I have been using the absolutely amazing index as a measure of what the hosts are seeing fall apart around them. Hartman and Rhodes are both saying absolutely amazing at least ten or more times per show these days. They see the end coming and have no idea what to do ..
Was it tokyo tom asking about the Penguin Cafe Orchestra bumper music? It’s called Telephone And Rubber Band.
I added it to the bumper music list:
http://mobjectivist.blogspot.com/2006/01/air-america-bumper-music.html
well, what do we do when we see the end coming?
alito’s confirmation and riley’s show are, as seanms might point out, evidence of the apocalypse and the end times.
these are the days when we need cardinal milfington the most. and he’s not here to help us.
while waiting a lifetime or two for marc to reappear, i busy myself by rearranging the chairs on the deck of the titanic (call senator feinstein today etc.), try to keep my optimism and humor like a good little democrat, and steel myself for a long hard ride downhill.
the book reading lolita in teheran helped me see how educated liberal people cope with the transition from a somewhat liberal (if you can call the shah’s regime liberal) society to a much harsher dictatorial one (the ayatollah). that book is one of my templates about how to proceed without totally freaking out.
but i’m not ruling out freaking out either. butch the cat, where are you buddy? :billcat:
citizen kahn, your dream diary is wonderful. I was moved when you said that you really dreamed it. I’m going to adopt your dream for my own.
“I’ll let you be in my dream if I can be in your dream.” (Bob Dylan)
it’s been a rough two weeks, had to get my morning sedition fix today so put on an old show, what good times those were! i have not been able to tolerate riley or rachel, and am so glad that others are listening and commenting, and we all need marc back soon! my brooklyn neighbors and i can’t hold on much longer…….
Doug from NewJersy called into the Majority Report last night.. he more or less had the same though as I do that the corporations and the uber rich are taking all their profits while China is ramping up ( they expect their GNP to surpass ours in 2008) then they will all move out leaving us as a true third world country with no economy to provide jobs , hence no tax income to fiance a military to defend ourselves or support our infrastructure.
wonderful dream diary, {{{ KAHN }}}}
*********
I’m major bummed about borkalito. our country is going down the tubes. can’t believe those judges testified. WTF???
Do you think that means Marc might be dreaming of us, too? That makes me even more hopeful!
Wow! Two happening nights on the blog, and what do I do? Miss ’em.
Hello boat people!
:fire:
Hey guys, rest easy, got an email from Jim thanking me for the gift i sent him.here it is.
I’ve been preoccupied with spending every moment of the day looking for
an apartment in LA that i can afford. Air America gave us very little
money for Marc’s show, so it’s hard going right now. But rest assured,
there will be a show, probably starting Feb 3 or 7th. Brendan arrives
soon to help out for a couple of months, so that will be great.
If we get a place big enough for my piano, we’ll put your bottle on top
of it. Not the place, but the piano.
Take care,
Jim
Happy Friday the 13th!
Hey Quietgirl, maybe you can help Jim find a good space there in LA.
Kristapea YEAH! thank you for the GREAT news!
“Do you think that means Marc might be dreaming of us, too? That makes me even more hopeful!”
comment by citizenkahn
ah, i hope so, citizenkahn. snif. is somebody cutting onions around here?
Rachel had on the Cliff’s Notes today. Something seriously wrong with them, as they weren’t funny.
but then again I don’t think they were supposed to be.
With his evening show I’ll have to listen in the morning. Marc in the morning? Whoa! What a way to get up.
I’m going to miss Marc in the morning. It’ll be wierd to hear him in the evening.
What’s with all of this talk that the Democrats are not going to filibuster Alito!:omg::mad:
:fire::peace:Oh shit!
Kristapea, thanks for the news from Jim. I feel like I’ve been holding my breath since October. Maybe I can really start to breath easier now.
Your news is better than a christmas present. :santacool:
Kristapea- I’d suggest we wait 12 hours and listen to him at our ‘usual’ time, but I’m too greedy. I want to hear the show live.
Please do breath! We need every single body in these dark times.
:billcat:Who said that Marc looked like Rebbe Lubavitcher? (Schneerson):rabbi:
Yeah, I prefer to hear it live too. That’s probably why so many people get up early for it.
Got to go prepare for my weekend.
Circulate!:peace:
I enjoyed reading the posts from all of the early risers. I especially liked the syncronized hurl emoticons. We desperately need Marc.
The New York Times had a good editorial this morning. In summary they said, “Given Judge Alito’s record and his testimony, it is hard to see how Senators Specter, Chafee, Snowe and Collins – or any other pro-choice Senators – can call themselves strong advocates of abortion rights if they support him.”
Because elevating Alito to the Supreme Court will affect wars the President wages in the future, individual rights, worker’s rights, environmental protections, one man one vote precedent, right to privacy and due process protection among other issues, nothing else matters right now to me except voicing my opinion about this nomination.
The press is pathetic, even some of AAR. Yesterday, Randi and Seder really kept the focus on Alito and what the ramifications of his confirmation are. I hope they do that again today. I would like to see the Democrats put up a fight!
Samuel Alito :omg:
The vote in the senate looks like its going to be pretty much along party lines. I wouldn’t be to surprised if Lieberturkey defects but … The only hope will be for the dems to filibuster and then the media will probably fry them like they did over making ms Alito cry. The vast majority of the stupids will believe what the M$M says so it scares the s* out of the dems. There is also the possibility that the Rethugs will go nuclear. If they do that its to bad the Senate office building mail room won’t accept packages.
Okay, so what Democrats do we need to pressure to filibuster. I feel like calling my Republican Senators is completely useless and I’m wasting my time. I think that we need the Dems to filibuster. Let ’em use the Nuclear Option. I think it will backfire on them anyways. “Go ahead, make my day.”
I guess the best dems to contact about the filibuster would be those on the gang of 14. Fienstein might be good.. obviously Harry Reid
Go girls of the Sacred Heart, NO,LA.
Fuckers. That’s what I figured. But they’ll be happy to take credit for it when it’s the #1 syndicated show they have.
FWIW, you can e-mail KTLK (I did, but aven’t heard from them) at feedback@progressivetalk1150.com
Damned if they aren’t a Clearchannel station, too.
Hiya kong…missed ya’ yesterday….did you see our tokyo meet up? Wish you could fly in from Taiwan…:fire:……maybe next year…
Yesterday, Randi said that Diane Feinstein was wavering in her desire to filibuster. She suggested calling Feinstein. I would say contacting those on the Judiciary Committe to bolster them and any other democrats. Harry Reid said he is still troubled by Alito and that the Democrats will meet next week. I have read some reports that the Judiciary Committee will be voting on Tuesday. It seems important that all of the democrats on the Judiciary vote no. Constituents of Specter, Snowe, Collins and Chafee need to put pressure on them.
Ralph Neas (PFAW) felt that there is still hope that this nomination can be filibustered.
Yeah Jason. How about twice a year?
I say filibuster the bastid, and let the goddamn thugs nuke the filibuster. Then the dems need to take back the Senate and the White House, and start ramming through judicial appointees of their own. The unfortunate part is that Bush’s Supreme Court will be in power for a long, long time. Dark days indeed. Don’t discount the possibility of repealing the 22nd amendment, or a “terrorist” attack in 2008, necessitating the need for martial law and the “temporary” suspension of elections, and official (as opposed to the current quasi) state control of the media. That will require a lot of courage and standing in front of the tanks. I just wonder if the American sheep are up for it.
Filibuster that whorewhopper!
Pray for a strategic lightning strike or two…:omg::rofl2:
pj- quit making more scared than I am. :omg: Unfortunately you paint a true picture.
Sorry. Maybe I’m just feeling a little grumpy. Nice as it was to sleep in my own bed last night, I woke up with nasty toothaches in my knees, and have been walking around like Fred Sanford this morning. I think the NSA implanted pain devices in my knees, and unless I think good thoughts about the Bushies, they’re gonna take me down. :omg:
All of the MSM are saying thAT the Dems will not filibuster. Too many boll weevils.:sheep::rofl2::fustrate:
Filibastard!
I don’t pay any attention to what the traditional media thinks. Except, I must say the NYTimes editorials have been good the last couple of days.
Is this 😀 Tom Delay?
Sure looks a lot like that son of a bitch.:rofl2:
Go to a nice Chinese Dr. around the corner. Get the tea-steam, message, and herbal wrap. It’s covered by national insurance. Oops! That’s what we’d do here. :yinyang:
Good luck.
Tyger Thom has the woman who started Sister’s of the Road Cafe.:nixon:
Springer is talking about Bush does New Orleans.
Sister in NO says ‘Bush’ is a swear/cuss word.
I wonder how many people even on the left realize how much trouble we are really in.?? I find it difficult to find many people who even think things are much more different than business as usual with a very conservative administration. The erosion of our rights is not something they are even aware of. The people on the right live in denial that fearless leader isn’t the best thing since sliced bread. I guess most people are so busy with their daily lives and treading water that they don’t think about whats happening much. The frog in the pot syndrome.. it apparently works quite well.
:sheep::sheep::yinyang::omg::40:
Irrational fear of events and things associated with 12A.
21st I’ll be heading to north america. A 22nd trip to Japan (unfortunately) is not in the cards, 🙁
Oh man, pj! you’rethinking what I’ve been thinking .I just called the DNC to insist that they filibuster. While Rachel’s cliff notes weren’t funny, they got me riled up.
The DNC’s number is (202) 863-8000.:omg:
Re: Marc: I’ve been writing to him too (no response other than the message we all got). I’m going to LA next month and keep hoping his show will be on (thanks for the news from Jim, Kristapea) and that I can see him perform live at one of the Comedy Clubs.
Feeling down and hopeless about the state of affairs, but doing what I can. Anyone have Senators Feinstein and Reid’s numbers handy. I’m worried that Reid is keeping alow profile because of the Abramoff scandal. Is that the case? I’ve been teaching an intensive all day 45 hour hour course that ended last night so I’ve been out of the loop? Is my fear re: Reid something to be concerned about or not?
I’m going over to the DNC supreme court blog to see what people are saying there now.:banana:
SCOTUS
Springer: Alito will be confirmed. Get used to it.
The big danger with the changes is the ever worsening economy. People are getting squeezed, and little relief available.
Does anybody have visions of Handmaiden’s Tale sorts of changes? Concentration camps?
I think it is more:
If you ain’t got the do-re-mi, boy. If you ain’t got it, fuck you!:omg:
Smash that Utah bigot in the face. I hate these arrogant conservative senators. Orinn Klatsch. Fuck you!
How many of you found that Alito has a brilliant mind? He is brighter than any of the senators who questioned him?
That is the sort of mung Springer is slinging.
Well, maybe here in the future Kong….the eastern sunrise will meet Maron’s dream…..you’re in the loop Kong….maybe next time we can meet in Taipei! The Seditionists Revolution has begun! :fire:
I think we’re already pissing other AAR people off about this website…
fine with me…good riddance
DrDance, Harry Reid put out a press release yesterday and said the democrats will meet next week and that he is still troubled by the nomination. Howard Dean was very convincing in his statement that they have ruled out any democrats caught up in the Abramoff scandal. (Harry Reid took direct contributions from Indian Tribes no contact with Abramoff).
How so?:?:
:mad::40::-oTom Delay.
:bong:Make Marijuana legal!
Make Marijuana legal!:omg:
Great day for Hartman to be missing.. Marvin is also rolling over on the Alito issue.. Jay doesn’t have much faith that the dems in congress are much differnt than the rethugs.. just like the rest of us
Friday the 13th!:omg:
Bad Luck Day!
Thanks for keeping me in the loop.:alc:
kong: if you look at the thread here a couple days ago…someone was saying all this site was doing was bashing Riley and the “new” shows. They wanted us to only concentrate on Maron, whatever that means..That was it….only one…..but one’s enough….:40:
Bork Alito!
I wouldn’t give up on old-guard conservatives if things really go downhill – they may be publicly supporting the President and his nominiees, but there is a lot more discontent with Bush and the NeoCon’s, and their toady Congress, than you might think. It’s just they fear the Democrats more than they fear Bush.
What the heck is up with the sense of inevitability re Alito? By September they will be talking up the Republican landslide in November . . .
“Nothing is written until I write it”.
I wenr over to Rachels blog this morning and bashed AAR.. several people agreed with me..:rant1:
I haven’t heard enough of Riley’s show to judge for myself but you folks are making him sound more sports-oriented than Ed Schultz on a football Friday. What’s up with that?
I’ll be busy most all weekend so I am going to try to post some extra recipes today. Here’s the first one.
Tomato and Mustard Seed Salsa
4 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/3 cup finely chopped celery
1/4 cup finely chopped green pepper (bell pepper)
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tbsp finely chopped green chiles
1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp mustard seed
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
1 tsp salt
dash of black pepper
Combine all ingredients. Cover and chill, stirring occasionally. Serve with corn chips.
Boy, talk about thin-skinned American Jews. This was, of course, apropos of nothing anyone else has been discussing but it was enough to get my attention this morning, and that’s hard to do before I’ve finished my first cup of coffee!
AAR must have spent three man months since late last year putting out info about Alito.. Now there hosts are telling us to roll over and be nice liberals.. Something smells.:-(:rant1:
Gypsy, thanks for the recipe. Regarding Riley’s new show. He seems to be a little heavy handed in the sport news….even has a special sports guy who comes on everyday…Personally, I have nothing against it if that’s what he wants to do. It’s not my taste though. It’s definitely not Morning Sedition.
It’s to bad you can’t call into these radio shows and tell them what you are really thinking. They won’t accept calls with the caller ID disabled. :rant1:
Friday the 13th AND a full moon. Holy CRAP! 😮
Here is the Gang of 14. It seeems to me that this nomination is an extreme case as prescribed in the agreement. Maybe they can be convinced.
Republicans
John S. McCain III, Arizona
Lindsey O. Graham, South Carolina
John Warner, Virginia
Olympia Snowe, Maine
Susan M. Collins, Maine
R. Michael DeWine, Ohio
Lincoln Chafee, Rhode Island
[edit]
Democrats
Joseph I. Lieberman, Connecticut
Robert C. Byrd, West Virginia
E. Benjamin Nelson, Nebraska
Mary Landrieu, Louisiana
Daniel Inouye, Hawaii
Mark Pryor, Arkansas
Ken Salazar, Colorado
Salazar is one of my Senators .. I have harassed him over and over again over these last two weeks.. Marvin just said he was waffling though. I guess i will call his office.
I just emailed Harry Reid’s office tellings him that my ancestors fought in the revolutionary war and in the civil war to save this nation. It seems like a filibuster is the least we can do to save the principles and ideals for which this country was established. I told him I would support the filibuster all the way. Just do it.
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee are:
Leahy
Kennedy
Biden
Kohl
Feinstein
Feingold
Schumer
Durbin
Here are Senator McCain and Senator Nelson’s sites if you would like to contact them and lend your support for a filibuster of Judge Alito.

 The news that we’ll have a Maron show in February is almost enough to pick up my spirits from watching the ScAlito hearings. Almost. A solid voting block of Democrats showing their collective spine would pick me up more.
Under the Lobsterscope
Correction (typo):
The real way to get to Under The Lobsterscope
Keep trying that McCain link, it took a couple of times.
Charles Goyette is going to be filling in for Tom Hartman today. Check him out, he may be going national soon.
You know, Krista, I’ve sent Marc about six gifts and only once got a thank you—and that was for a couple packets of Splenda in response to his telling us that he stole it at restaurants. I’ve sent him stuffed animals, books, cards…. And you send Jim a bottle and get such an effusive thank you. I think I was sending my stuff to the wrong person… From now on I send my stuff to Cardinal Milfington.
I still want to adopt Marc, but my family is almost all unthinkably rude so it’s still all good.
I’ve never gotten a response from Marc either. Who knows why. I’m sure he gets a ton of email, especially during these last few months.
Whew, just finished my first round of emails to the Democrats on Judiciary Committee urging them to filibuster Alito. Next, are the Gang of 14. I’m going to go down fighting.
How come no one is talking about this? Another lying conservative in a higher public office is situation normal. But this news may make that little worry simply a footnote in human history. Read this:
Bird flu mutation raises threat to humans
I just emailed Marc and told him he would be proud of us on the blog (established in honor of him and Morning Sedition) fighting the good fight against Samuel Alito. And, that we are eagerly awaiting his return.
NC Blue – as your link shows, this has been big news in the international media. The US M$M won’t care until it shows up in the US, because, of course, nobody cares about “them foreigners”. Unless they kill or kidnap a young attractive woman, of course.
Professionally I deal with lots of emergency management issues – hurricanes, earthquakes, nukes, tsunamis, chemical disasters, etc. Only viruses scare me. :paranoid:
Where are you sending things to Jim? For Marc I sent them via AAR in New York but that’s obviously not the fastest approach anymore. I think Jim’s gonna get some Moonstruck chocolates. Sorry….some gourmet chocolate communion wafers for his recently disgraced parish.
Franken is in Missoula, MT today. I hope he doesn’t go all cowboy. That would just be too scary for me.
My mother says Alito looks like a Stepford husband. I didn’t see enough of him to see that. Does anyone else get that vibe off him? It wouldn’t surprise me…
My most recent email to Maron…
I wrote a very short song for your last show but it didn’t air.
I sat on hold for nearly half the show. I even had to reword the song
because they didn’t want Goldberg’s name in it….I played it for
the screeners three times. Understandable, shameful, ignominious.
Well I called back, and stayed on hold till the end…
Thought you’d like to hear it….
Quality is bad…played through a phone…I like it that way though
listen here
For what it’s worth:
Dear Senator Feinstein,
I am writing this letter to you urging you to stand firm and oppose, by filibuster if necessary, the the confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court of the United States. While I am not a resident of California, and in fact are far more conservative than you on many issues, I am sure you would agree that nominations to the Court are of such transcendent importance they rise above regional or party lines. Unfortunately, Republicans (such as my Senators here in Georgia) who would oppose this nomination on conservative grounds are highly unlikely to do so out of fear of damaging the party or “their” President. Therefore, those of us who care deeply about our nation are counting on Democrats to risk the potentially difficult political consequences and take strong measures to oppose Judge Alito.
The “liberal” arguments against Alito are familiar to you. I am sure the “conservative” ones are as well, but as a conservative I would like to highlight two of them. Foremost, of course, is his advocacy of the ahistorical concept of the “unitary executive”. This theory runs counter to the widely agreed upon foundation of our government that the Congress passes laws, the Executive implements them, and the courts interpret actions under these laws in the light of our constitution. It goes much further, directly challenging the constitutional precept that powers not enumerated are not granted to the executive. Another objection is his rather obvious tendency to side with government in general over the individual. That is clearly not conservative, much less in keeping with the historical role of the courts in protecting individuals against the state or other stronger parties.
I regret to say that the Republican Party has ignominiously demonstrated that they are unwilling to stand on principle when it comes to the actions of this administration. While I am sure there would be a media circus surrounding a filibuster, I suspect that many moderates and conservatives would respect a principled stand, and that in the end it would help Democrats more than harm them. But that political calculus should be ultimately irrelevant: Judge Alito is a bad nominee, from either a conservative or liberal perspective, and deserves rejection.
Sincerely,
The latest from Jon Sinton is that the target date for the show is January 30th but that it is unlikely that the show will start on that date.
Below is the message:
Hi Charlie. A couple of weeks away. Trying for 30th, but I don’t think we’ll make it!
:fire::sheep::sheep::sheep::billcat::yinyang::pent:
Methaz, that is a wonderful letter. I believe the fact that you are a conservative will have a special significance. I especially like the emphasis on taking a principled stand. I, also, have been making the point that throughout history people in this country have taken courageous stands and that a filibuster will be an act of integrity on their part.
Hate to change the subject from serious matters like Alito, and the Dem’s habitual pattern of ineffective opposition, but did anyone hear that Kent Jones is not going to be the faux newcaster on the morning show anymore? Does this mean The Return of Lawton, or simply that he’s leaving mornings? Maybe he’s working on a made-for-TV pilot where Angus beats the snot out of Danny Goldberg?
thanks for the list of democrats on the judiciary committee kristapea. i’ll write to them today and to everyone in the gang of 14 (thanks for that list too) and go down fighting like isi. i’ll use the letters that methaz provided yesterday and today.
friday the 13th and a full moon gives me the energy to do this.
if this isn’t vigilance, i don’t know what is.
cresttwo, where did you hear that? Maybe Jon Sinton could answer that question. He has responded to kristapea before, I think. I like the Angus v DG scenario. What the heck is going on at AAR?
Now there’s an emoticon I’d like to see: Angus beating the crap out of Goldberg
Ahhhh, the MS Ark, where people are actually thinking and concerned about the issues of the day. It is so frustrating to see everyday people who don’t have a clue of what’s happening in the world. My right wing-hate monger-bigot-christo-fascist-who thinks she knows everything neighbor (I think I hit all the adjectives I could) asked me what the “Green Zone” is? WTF?
called Reid’s office and asked, if you don’t filabuster Alito, what the devil is it going to take?
Ditto methaz! :rofl2:

But despite this looming disaster, the mainstream media are giving this major development hardly any play ….” more
What’s this about Kent Jones:?:
I so enjoyed him today – he even sounded a bit like our Lawton this morning…. 😮
Farmerkat, so I wasn’t the only one? I was still in the process of waking up and I heard his voice and thought, “Yeah! That’s my boy!” Jones was in really good form today. I am sorry that he isn’t likely to be a regular on Marc’s new show, but maybe Lawton can phone in every once in a while…
Well Specter adjourned the hearings
The democracy will officially end the week of the 23rd.. Bush will assume his full dictatorship shortly there after. If you run across any of the Dem senators in one of the FEMA camps you might enquire as to why they didn’t want to filibuster this asshole. Apparently its a trade off between keeping the Rethug corruption on the front pages of the papers ( which no one reads any more) and the M$M (which has Ms Alito crying and blames the dems for it.).and the slumming of the dems for daring to filibuster this great man Mr. Alito… Oh well never look at the long term when you can put all your efforts in to the short term…
Any one have any detailed plans for making a guillotine ??
Kent Jones is not as funny on Rachel’s show as he is on MS as Lawton.
Tyger Thom had army chaplain Yee on today, on the local show. Was it a repeat? I am too groggy to blog. Too many errands to do.

Hey, NickiRose, a couple of days ago Tyger Tom had a conservative caller who just kept saying, “You liberal types are just stickin’ Communists…” and other similar bullshit. Guess what? His name was Ted. Did you hear that and did you brace yourself (needlessly, of course, but it felt good to remember) for Marc the Shark to break in?
This is my next recipe. All I know about it is that it was written by someone named Donna and it’s easy as they get.
“Cosmic Wheels Pasta Salad”
8 ounces of uncooked wagon wheel pasta (boil until done and drain)
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup frozen corn thawed or canned corn
1 cup chunky salsa (mild, medium or hot)
1/3 cup Italian salad dressing of choice
2 garlic cloves, squeezed
dash of cumin
dash of hot red pepper flakes
dash of salt if you desire
2 tomatoes, chopped
1/3 cup cilantro, chopped
8 ounces cheddar cheese (1/2 to mix in salad and 1/2 to garnish)
2 cups corn tortilla chips, coarsely broken (1 cup to mix in salad, 1 cup for garnish)
1 avocado, diced (garnish)
*Optional-sliced olives for garnish
*Optional-serve with lime wedges to squeeze over top or to put in your beer
Mix all ingredients together except avocado, 1/2 of the cheese and 1/2 of the corn chips.
After salad is well blended, garnish with balance of cheese and chips and place diced avocado over top.
Heya, Gypsy.
I know I should be TALKING ABOUT THE ISSUES! but I’ve been meaning to ask you:
Do you know a good recipe for chili? It can be meat or veg, as long as there’s no tofu (or other “meat replacement”) in it. (Beans are good.) I long ago spent a lot of time looking for a recipe and never came up with one that passed muster. Now that I’m in the market again, thought I’d ask you first!
Rachel Maddow said something this morning [or was it yesterday?] that Kent Jones wouldn’t be doing the Kent Jones Now spots anymore. Maybe I’m reading too much into it. Maybe I need a hobby. Christ, no Morning Sedition for a month now. This is just sick.
Hey, citizenkahn, I make a chili that always gets compliments. I have to make it for our office holiday lunch every year.
Here’s what I do:
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. sweet or hot italian sausage, removed from casing
1-2 onions, chopped
1 large bell pepper, chopped
4-5 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tbs. chili powder
2 tsp. cumin
2 Tbs. paprika
a few shakes red pepper flakes
2 28-oz. cans diced tomatoes in puree
1/2 bottle barbecue sauce
3 cans beans — small red beans, black beans, great northern beans — whatever you like, drained and rinsed.
Brown meat well. Drain in paper towel in colander. Remove paper towel and rinse meat. Yes, really. This removes almost all the ambient fat. Put meat in slow cooker crock.
Cook onions, garlic and bell pepper till onion is soft. Add to crockpot. Cook on high 4-5 hours or low 8-10 hours. Add beans during last 1/2 hour of cooking to heat through.
Technically, this is “travesty chili”. I’ve been told that real chili never seens a tomato. But the sausage adds a different flavor, and the combination of red hot pepper flakes and barbecue sauce adds a sweet/hot taste that’s out of this world.
Try it and let me know how you like it.
Add all remaining ingredients except beans, and stir.
i like food food tastes good
mmmmmmm. Chili. (insert drooling emoticon here)
Sausage is a neat touch – thanks for the recipes, Brillant and Gypsy!
Friday the 13th AND a full moon. Holy CRAP!
Comment by Kristapea — January 13, 2006 @ 9:53 am
I was thinking the same thing last night. 🙂
Krista, thanks for the great news concerning the show. At least we have some hope for the next few weeks.
I don’t understand why the Dems wouldn’t filibuster Scalito. It’s not as if the Repigs are going to hand them any power either way. For now, I’m holding out hope that a few more of them will have the guts to do it. As far as I’m concerned, Scalito perjured himself during the hearings, and should be voted down just for that.
But, in the Liberal Confessional, I have to admit I’m starting to develop a crush on Rachel Brand. :omg:
CitKahn, this is close to how I make it. I don’t use a formal recipe but this is a lot like it. It’s from the fatfree archive which has a heckuva lotta vegetarian recipes. BTW, you can’t talk about the issues on an empty stomach…remember that.
BEAN AND CORN CHILI
Ingredients:
red wine
2 or 3 onions
5 or 6 garlic cloves
2 or 3 green/red peppers
2 or 3 stalks of celery
6 small tomatoes (it was what I got cheap at the farmer’s market)
4 tins of kidney beans
1 tin tomato paste
bag of frozen corn
soy sauce
Loisiana hot sauce
chili powder
ground corriander seed
cumin
black pepper
a big pot to put all this in
Saute the onions and garlic in a bit of red wine. While it’s sauteing, chop up the peppers and celery and dump them in.
Finely chop up the tomatoes and dump them in. Dump in the tins of beans and tomato paste.
Reduce heat, stir.
Dump in 1-2 cups of the corn, or to taste. Add about 2 T of soy sauce, 1 – 5 tsp of Loisiana soy sauce or to taste, 1-2 T of chili powder, 1-2 T corriander seed, 1/2-1 T cumin, black pepper to taste. Simmer for an hour or two.
Yum!
Thanks, Gypsy–I knew I could count on you, O high priestess of the kitchen!
Brilliant–
Just saw your recipe, too. Thank you! Can you make it without a crock pot? (We inherited a couple after my f-i-l died, but–never having cooked in one–I was planning on using them as planters someday!)
There is no way on Earth that I will ever make this recipe, meat or no meat. It’s from the arguably WORST cook in the whole Food Network stable. But she’s a staunch Democrat so I can’t call it Repig Chili like I keep wanting to. So…make this at your own risk, and keep lots of :40: nearby just in case. And try to think kindly of Sandra “Semi-Homemade” Lee for the money she donated to the Kerry campaign and her support of liberal causes. Luckily, she doesn’t cook for them…
(Nasty) Chunky Chili
2 tablespoons butter
1 medium sweet onion, very finely chopped
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 cans red kidney beans, drained
1 jar marinara meat sauce (recommended: Paul Newman’s)
1 package chili seasoning(recommended: Shilling’s)
Shredded cheese, for garnish
Sour cream, for garnish
Minced chives, for garnish
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion and saute until softened. Crumble in the ground beef and cook until browned. Add beans and marinara sauce and combine thoroughly. Stir in chili seasoning, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes. Spoon into individual bowls and garnish with shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and chives.
Ms Rhodes seems to be trouncing Sean Hannity in the NYC market.
The Arbitron polls were released today… Randi got a 3.3 and Hannity got a 2.0
AAR affiliate stations lead the radio listeners market in San Diego and in Portland Ore.
That Talkers Mag Poll that was out in Nov only Had Schultz, Franken and Miller in the top 15 nationally. They were way behind Hannity and Limppriick listener wise ( like 10%) of the right wing audience. All the left sided talkers in the poll are also on in the day time. I have to think most of their potential audience would be at work. The Hannities and Limpricks have more of an audience of those laying around the pool waiting for their dividend checks.
Hey what do you want for 20 months exposure.
isi – thanks for the note about Harry Reid’s press release.
Methaz- a dynamite letter. Please send a copy to Senators Leahy and Reid, and to the Democrat Senatorial Committe. I left a message at the DNC this am complaining about the Dems wussy behavior and need to filibuster. Someone called me back “on behalf of the Governor.” Spposedly, he cannot take a stand on the filibuster (is that true; if so why?), however, Dean, according to the person who left the message suggested that I write to Leahey and phone the Dem. Senatorial Committee: (202) 224-2447. I just got the messages when I came home from work so I had to leave a message.
I couldn’t resist it and scolded them for not working overtime to protect our civil liberties. How about everyone on the blog calling the number to let the committee know how you feel. It’s time these”I just want to get re-elected” narcissists take a stand.
Awright, boys and girls, I’m outta here. Got stuff to do. People to go, places to talk to…I’ll try to get some weekend recipe-ness in at some point. I’m afraid it’ll all be medieval stuff, though. (Gotta go put on the costume and pretend to be a Lady or some such nonsense. Dress up is fun and I love the research and such, but every once in a while I wonder what the HELL I’m doing with a hobby like this…)
:billcat:
Gypsy–
I had only to read Shilling’s chili seasoning to know this won’t be the recipe for me. I bought some a few Super Bowls ago to make some cockamamie dish for my husband and stepson. It was so awful, they’re still razzing me about it!
And now, for the issues.
Has anybody else noticed how the M$M is misrepresenting what Specter said this afternoon?
Multiple sources on the Google News site are saying Specter will vote to confirm Alito. He is quoted as saying “I intend to vote to support Judge Alito’s nomination for associate justice to the Supreme Court, and I do not do that as a matter of having a party line vote or as a matter of party loyalty.”
He did say that; I heard him say it. I also heard him go on to say that he supports moving the nomination OUT OF COMMITTEE; that, as chairman, it is his position that Alito should now be voted on by the full Senate. He said, basically, that how he votes as a senator is independent from this recommendation as chair and he would not even anticipate how he might vote from the Senate floor. (Forgive me if the terminology is lame; I am not particularly sure of the legislative lingo.) I had to go back and listen to the clip on C-SPAN; you can hear it at approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes into the tape.
I am furious. They’re handing Alito his confirmation.
My husband says the M$M isn’t evil, just lazy, which may be true. Tell me, how is it that a private citizen, no expert in these matters, hears better than those who are paid to do so?!?!
Gotta go make dinner (NOT chili–not tonight), but I’m interested in hearing others’ takes on this.
Senator Richard Durbin (Senate Judiciary Committee) is scheduled to be on the Majority Report tonight.
Citizenkahn, I didn’t hear Arlen Specter this afternoon. I’m hoping Seder says something tonight about it. Randi has been encouraging people to contact moderate Republicans to lobby against Alito.
I am a bit concerned about the M$M and the 2006 election. I have observed them showing things out of context similar to the Howard Dean yelling bit in which they took out all the background noise and just had him sounding nutzoid. Ms Alito crying was the latest perplexing thing. I’m afraid the Dems will get the adds they pay for but the Rethugs will get all of the Dems blunders and out of context remarks for free not to mention the RNC swift boat adds that are paid for.
Hey, Check it Kablooey…
Get it while it’s hot or while the sun is still up anyway.
Well, just heard the interview with Sen Durbin. He said filibuster is on the table but it is a stretch that they can get 41 democrats to go along with filibuster. A caveat, he said he has not had a chance to talk with his colleagues about it so he doesn’t know for sure what the other Senate Democrats think. This says to me that I need to contact all the Democrats in the senate and urge them to filibuster.
So do we even KNOW what Mrs. Alito was crying about? She could have been crying about her best friends cat dying for all we know. You know how us women are, we cry at everything.
citizenkahn, Seder just mentioned that Specter said he would vote for Alito and by doing so is betraying his constituents who voted for him because of his pro choice stance. He also said that people who have Snow, Collins and Chafee as their Senators should hammer them about their Alito vote. A funny thing, tonight whenever Sam mentions Lindsey Graham’s name he says, “shut that closet door!!”
kristapea, crooks and liars has a video of Alito leaving the hearing room after his wife had that crying episode and didn’t even look in her direction. 🙄
So, it was an act and Mrs. Alito had bad timing? I wonder if any of the M$M is gonna interview her?
Or else, he is a real jerk and she was crying because she couldn’t believe she’s married to him.
😆
PJ, it’s not going to be easy to stand up in front of tanks like folks did in the 60s.
“Don’t discount the possibility of repealing the 22nd amendment, or a “terrorist” attack in 2008, necessitating the need for martial law and the “temporary” suspension of elections, and official (as opposed to the current quasi) state control of the media. That will require a lot of courage and standing in front of the tanks. I just wonder if the American sheep are up for it.” (comment by pj)
I think the right-wing isn’t worried at all about mass protests that might occur when they ratchet down the system and suspend our civil liberties.
They have diabolical crowd control weapons they can’t wait to use on us.
Maybe you know about the weapon dubbed the Scream by Israeli police who use it. TRAVIS, WARNING DO NOT READ THE REST OF THIS COMMENT!!! The Scream creates a terrifying and painful sound that works on the inner ear and causes dizziness and nausea and hearing damage. Here’s an NPR story about it, including links to other stories:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4857417
“The knees buckle, the brain aches, the stomach turns. And suddenly, nobody feels like protesting anymore. Witnesses describe a minute-long blast of sound emanating from a white Israeli military vehicle. Within seconds, protesters began falling to their knees, unable to maintain their balance.”

How about the microwave weapon that will cook the crowd and lights that will blind and even more? Check this out:
http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/27a/057.html
I’m not sure I’m going to be out there standing in front of tanks this time around. We’re going to have to create our own ways of fighting the system that are different from how we did it in the 60s and 70s.
So far the right-wing doesn’t have any problem with mass protest because the media doesn’t cover the protests any more, but if that day ever comes, i think we need to be very careful. :!::(
My sincere hope is that it will be like the Russian soldiers after Yeltsin led an uprising during the attempted coup against Gorbachev. They got out of their tanks and stood with the people.
Do I have enough guts to stand up and face them? I don’t know. I’d like to think so, but I don’t know.
Yeah, people are responding to the atrocious actions of this administration.

Gore to Address “Constitutional Crisis”
By John Nichols
The Nation
Friday 13 January 2006
It sounds as if Al Gore is about to deliver what could be not just one of the more significant speeches of his political career but an essential challenge to the embattled presidency of George W. Bush.
In a major address slated for delivery Monday in Washington, the former Vice President is expected to argue that the Bush administration has created a “Constitutional crisis” by acting without the authorization of the Congress and the courts to spy on Americans and otherwise abuse basic liberties.
Aides who are familiar with the preparations for the address say that Gore will frame his remarks in Constitutional language. The Democrat who beat Bush by more than 500,000 votes in the 2000 presidential election has agreed to deliver his remarks in a symbolically powerful location: the historic Constitution Hall of the Daughters of the American Revolution. But this will not be the sort of cautious, bureaucratic speech for which Gore was frequently criticized during his years in the Senate and the White House.
Indeed, his aides and allies are framing it as a “call to arms” in defense of the Bill of Rights and the rule of law in a time of executive excess.
The vice president will, according to the groups that have arranged for his appearance – the bipartisan Liberty Coalition and the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy – address “the threat posed by policies of the Bush Administration to the Constitution and the checks and balances it created. The speech will specifically point to domestic wiretapping and torture as examples of the administration’s efforts to extend executive power beyond Congressional direction and judicial review.”
Coming only a few weeks after US Representative John Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, introduced resolutions to censure President Bush and Vice President Cheney, and to explore the issue of impeachment, Gore in expected to “make the case that the country – including the legislative and judicial branches and all Americans – must act now to defend the systems put into place by the country’s founders to curb executive power or risk permanent and irreversible damage to the Constitution.”
Don’t expect a direct call for impeachment from the former vice president. But do expect Gore to make reference to Richard Nixon, whose abuses of executive authority led to calls for his impeachment – a fate the 37th president avoided by resigning in 1974.
Gore’s speech will add fuel to the fire that was ignited when it was revealed that Bush had secretly authorized National Security Agency to monitor communications in the United States without warrants. Gore will argue that the domestic wiretapping policy is only the latest example of the administration exceeding its authority under the Constitution.
With a Congressional inquiry into Bush’s repeated violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act scheduled to begin in February – and with Bush already preparing to pitch an Nixon-style defense that suggests it is appropriate for the executive branch to violate the law when national security matters are involved – Gore will articulate the more traditional view that reasonable checks and balances are required even in a time of war. And he will do so in a bipartisan context that will make it tougher for Republican critics to dismiss the former vice president’s assertion that the Constitution is still the law of the land.
Former US Representative Bob Barr, the Georgia Republican who served as one of the most conservative members of the House, plans to introduce Gore. Barr, an outspoken critic of the abuses of civil liberties contained in the USA Patriot Act critic who has devoted his post-Congressional years to defending the Bill of Rights, refers to the president’s secret authorization of domestic wiretapping as “an egregious violation of the electronic surveillance laws.”
Count on Gore, who has pulled few punches in the speeches he has delivered in recent months, to be at least as caustic.
——-
I just don’t get how my Senators’ didn’t have staff hours before 8:30 when all this was going on. Not even a message service for the Corzine/Martinez office. WTF?
Also, did anyone notice that Riley has no blog of his own?
isi–
I really think Sam has it wrong. (Although I only think so from reading your post. I’m still boycotting AAR, but it’s getting tougher.) I think if you listen to Specter’s statement, you’ll hear him saying that his role as chairman of the judiciary committee and his role as a senator are two very different things. I’m not saying he won’t vote to confirm; I’m just holding out hope.
I think it’s easier for the M$M to grab on to the sound bite and run with it. I was in the car when I heard it live, and my first reaction was near-apoplexy. If I hadn’t been driving, I would have called my husband immediately. But because I was driving, I got to hear the rest of Specter’s statement, about two minutes later.
Look, folks on this blog have been warning that the M$M is playing right into the Repugs’ hands, so that’s not the revelation. The revelation, if it can even be called that, is seeing how they seized on what they thought they heard (or wanted to hear) and didn’t bother, through malice or incompetence, to cover the full story. Maybe I’m late in coming to that conclusion myself, but the point is I’m here now–and I’m mad!
:rant1:
citizenkah, I hope you are right that Specter might vote against Alito!
I am going to take the risk of being slapped on the hand for bringing politics into my profession’s list serve. It is a predominantly female profession. Many live in PA, some in RI, and a few in Maine. Certainly they should be contacting those moderate :?:Repugs.

If Gore gives the kind of strong, passionate, powerful, and honest speech I think he will, then he needs to be convinced to run again – and not NOT with the piece-o-crap Lieberman, who I hope will be defeated in the Senate in 2006.
pjsauter,
“If one believes in him, he will come”
Many have towards the end of the year (2005ce) asked Gore to run and there has been meetups back east (and Tenn) in support of him.

I think so too. And I think he will win, again; this time soundly. And I think he will be a great president, and this country will be pulled out of darkness.
I do.
Maybe we needed this horrible period to be certain that we take the right course. To be certain that we’ve seen how bad things can become. To be certain that we make things right, and that the US lives up to its principles. To be the “good guys” again.
Let’s make it so.

You know, I did not pay close attention to the bogus campaign to impeach Clinton over Monicagate. Therefore, I do not have an animus towards Bob Barr. I used to see him a lot on Donahue’s MSNBC show; he seemed to be a principled conservative. The sort of person progressives will need to work with to get out of this political mess we are in.

This is a scenario imagined by many. have you ever read Guy DeBord’s “What could have happened” analysis of the May “68 near revolution in France? To win, a good percentage of troops will need to side with the protestors. He thought that the Warsaw Pact countries might have sent in troops to help crush the “threat of a good example” protests that were going on in Paris in May 1968.
Can’t give people the glimpse of an alternative to the hell they are forced to toil in.:omg:

ha!..i have to write and essay on 2 questions for my government class. the first question is:
Compare and contrast the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. Why did the Constitution succeed where the Articles of Confederation failed?
eh….pretty standard question, right? well, the next one caught my attention:
Are you a liberal, a conservative, or something in between? Using the table on page 46 of your text, write an essay discussing your placement on the political spectrum.

Yes, citizenkahn, you can make the chili without a crockpot. I used to make it in a dutch oven on the stove until it turned out that the crockpot was just easier; you could set it up and then forget it.
Let me know how you like it.
