Well, what excitement do the Sunday talking head shows have in store for us today?
Press the Meat w/ Timmy Potatohead has Barack Obama on to talk about his visit to Iraq and the Democrats’ lobbying reforms that don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of passing the Republican-corrupted Congress. And then, Mary Matalin has a threesome with her husband and his pal Paul Begala.
Over at CBS’s Faze the Nation, Bob “Claudia” Schieffer has Pat Roberts (always a thrill) and fellow Republican Joe Lieberman on to talk about the vewy, vewy, scawy Osama bin Hidin’ tape, :omg: and probably to engage in serious debate over the job that dubya’s doing on the War on Terra. (Pat: “I think dubya’s grrrrrrrreat!!!” Joe: “I disagree, Pat. I think he’s faaaaaabulous”). :yuck:
This Week w/ George Snufalufagus has John Kerry (will he exhibit some spine now that he’s a Daily Kos blogger, or go back to being the guy that couldn’t kick the crap – electorally speaking, of course – out of the worst president in history?). There’s also that wacky gang of regulars they like to call the Roundtable: Cokie :barf: Roberts, Sam  Donaldson and George :jerk: Will. As an added attraction, Gary Sinise will be on to talk about work with the USO & his charity Operation Iraqi Children, and maybe tell us how you can take a low resolution video surveillance camera screen capture, and blow the reflection off an eyeball of somebody in the picture, to get an eight-by-ten color glossy photo (with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back) that clearly shows who that person was talking to. What? No CSI: NY fans out there?
Weaselface Chris Wallace and Fox News (Someday) will talk about scary bin Laden, and then ridicule the Democrats’ lobbying reform plans (while no doubt insisting that Democrats are up to their ears in Abramoff money, too, damnit).
And, of course, CNN will do whatever the fuck it is that CNN does these days.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Well, shit!:rofl2:
I need to go work on some art; folks in Philly have invited me to submit work to their upcoming big art show.

man, you all had some heavy conversations going on last night – has my brain working this a.m.
C-span’s WJ is talking about blogs and why you read them this morning. The wing nuts seem to not, as usual, know what they are talking about.. Lots of liberals have called it. One wing nut called DU a commie haven.. He must have never even been there.. more like a liberal wine party. There are plenty of centrist demodorps there too.
Somebody call the span at 8:30 EST time to plug Morning Seditionists.
Call Sheeple. tell them about the site.
Washington Journal: Support Democrats (202) 737-0002
Washington Journal: Support Pres. Bush (202) 737-0001
Washington Journal: Support Others (202) 628-0205
You know, if your not too lazy.
Druid .. when you call your rep or senators office you usually talk to one of their phone answering people who is probably over whelmed with info so if they make no sense … that’s normal., Politicians as a rule of thumb make no sense. To be a politician you have to sound like you are saying something while not saying anything otherwise you might offend some one in your constituency.
Ewwwwww. There are also some liberals who take what they hear on Art Bell aka Coast to Coast am as facts .. Prison Planet is not a credible source. If Krugman on the other hand says something I will believe it.. Once again all the wing nuts speak southern poor Farmerkat..:omg:
Outside the us call

By the way, I don’t know how familiar y’all are with SHOUTcast, but if you’re looking for alternatives to AAR (be they political, music, humor, talk, old-time radio, smut, you name it), you might want to check it out.
SHOUTcast is a way to stream mp3 files, so you’ll need a player that knows how to interpret .pls files (WinAmp is probably the best – at least for Windows users (just the free version, no need to spend money) – but iTunes works and there’s XMMS for Linux folks.
There are over 10,000 “stations” to listen to that span any genre you can imagine. Some are great, some not so much. And you can’t necessarily count on that great station you found yesterday still being there next week.
For the really adventurous, you can download the server software, and start a radio station of your very own (which you can share with just yourself – say, to listen to your mp3’s from work – a few friends, or list it in the directory and share it with the world).
Anyhow, you might find it a good way to kill time between now ant February 13th.
fred, i know, they all live around me. many are teachers at my son’ts high school….i’ve had to straighten a few of those jokers out
off to ’round up some newspapers.
btw, i read depak chopra’s blog on huffpo (never have read his sh*t before, & i won’t again). what a disgrace it is – he makes statements that are not factual and i think he watches faux news. i thought he’d have some “world view” of things…hell no!
WARNING ISI: you’ll be pissed if you read it!
{pj, one of my posts is “lost”:?:}
Good morning everyone….Im so tired…these boys talked till 2AM or something and I was yelling at them to go to sleep!!…then the dogs started calling me at 7….and I have a chest cold!At least some snow is coming!!
Of course it waits till I have a cold and have to shovel in the snow!
Nikki…are you on yet? Tell us what sort of system and memory you have so we can figure something out for your saving shows problem.Im waitig for Chris Matthews…will he apologize to Michael Moore (is that show on today or did I miss it on Friday?)….He is spewing upcoming Hillary hate speak…how Hill is a flip flopper. I cant say I disagree. And I get really upset when I agree with Tucker Carlson that the fake southern black baptist thing is a little less than genuine. I dont want her to run…but I dont think that Chris Matthews is in any position to call anyone a flip flopper! he is the worst! And hes supposed to be the “press”….
Good morning, Seditionists! Alas, missed the blog discussion on WJ this morning…I still haven’t finished watching Randi’s interview with Brian Lamb, that’s how far behind I am.
Today I’m busy downloading the rest of the MS archives from AAP before premium goes into effect. If I have to pay for Marc’s new show, I’ll do it, but I’m NOT paying for MS archives. :rant1:
I’m looking to buy an MP3 player for Marc’s podcasts and for “driving music” for when I do the 9-hour drive south to visit family. I’m really interested in the Creative Zen Sleek. Anyone know about this one or can anyone make a suggestion that won’t set me back an arm and a leg?
My Mom just came over and was talking about this Span blog thing…as if I hadnt told her over and over how important blogs were becoming in the world along with selection of content….
Does anyone know when that Chris Matthews show was? I saw Chris talking round his “hotshots” (Ohhh that makes me so mad!) and he did say something about Michael Moore and Osama…maybe that was it.Id so like to see Matthews taken down a notch or two!
Down with Mathews! I think I’m going to start my own radio thing, thanks PJ:santacool: Hey man, did you guys hear the WJ? Somebody from Atlanta called and didn’t say anything. I think it might have been Becky:paranoid: maybe I’m just out there with that one. Okay, I have to get some water before I get a chest cold. Those are not fun, nope.
Do I need a microphone on my computer or can I call from the tele? Is there long distance charges?
Brill, I went for the iPod because Marc liked it so much that I became brainwashed into getting one! Now I am a full member of the cult.
I think theyre great because they keep their value.
I got the 60 gig Photo for $365 (on sale from buy.com and you get $30 off when you open a buy.com card instantly!) and Ive used it for around 7 months now. My father gave my son the iPod video forhis borthday and Im really impressed with its large capacity and smaller/lighter size…also that Im seeing that the future of this may include video podcasting.
So, on ebay the used 60 gig photos are going for $250!! used!!…so I decided to sell mine and throw in a little more to get myself a 60 gig video! With an educational discount the 60 gig video is $369 from Apple but Target also has some coupons.
I just have to find the disc and Im gonna list the old one.
That being said, I like the zens. I would suggest that you get as much of a screen as you can. Its just easier to listen in the car when you can see the display.
I love that Sony Bean…and Ive considered a cheaper little tiny one to walk around with…but I realized that I have to upgrade my ancient Verizon phone soon and I see that almost all of the newer phones have a card slot or some MP3 capacity.
I like to have a couple of books on my player and alot of radio…the MS archives (I still have to download the rest) …and music…and spanish lessons…and solitaire…
But I also really like the Best of Saturday Night Live…and I get a kick out of the boys discovering King Tut!
Trav- Look into doing your own podcast!! Its apparently easy to do and you can easily get it listed at all the podcast download sites as well as having it available from your site.
Hey everyone…Mom just called to say turn on Stephanopolopppuuusss….He has Kerry on and Kerry is actually talking fast and mad. he apparently just took Alito apart…hmmm…..I missed the first segment but I think they rerun it on the local channels
Yes…its the first segment…then they go into Q: “why havent we caught OBL yet? A: “hes good at hiding”
I’m in a different world. I won’t be able to see the George and Kerry for another 3 or 4 hrs.
I tried to have an audio blog on the blogger.co, but they want me to call san fran-f-ing-cisco. I can’t pay for that man. WTF.
Hey, Melina! Check it!
I didn’t call anybody, Travis! I’m over here with a big headache, just sippin’ coffee and listening to Pink Floyd.
I need an mp3 player too so I need recommendations!
I have an iRiver iHP120 (20 gig hard drive), which is relatively old now. At the time I bought it, it was about $100 less than a comparable iPod. It has optical input/outputs, can play mp3, wma, and ogg vorbis, and has an FM radio and nice internal microphone built into it (you can record in .wav as well as mp3, in a variety of bitrates), though you can also use an external mic, and a wired remote. It also came with a very nice padded, faux leather condom. The newer ones play video and display photos and all that stuff. Of course, a hard drive mp3 player will set you back a bit. I really like iRiver products (I have a CD “walkman” that plays mp3 cd’s, and is about 2 centimeters larger in diameter than a CD, and not much thicker), personally.
My wife has a little tiny Samsung 1 gig (I think) player. It’s about the size of a book of matches (but a bit thicker). It’s a bit too small for my man fingers to manipulate, but the internal mic works great. My stepson has a 1 gig SanDisk (I think, but I could be wrong – he hides all his shit) that looked pretty nifty the five minutes I saw it. I think he paid about $120 or so for it.
So, depending on what you want to do with it, a 512 MB or 1 GB should be fine. The two hour AAR shows at 32k are about 20 megs, so about 50 would fit on a 1 gig. Music at 128k is roughly a MB a minute (give or take), so at 60 Megs per hour, a 1 gig drive should pretty much cover your 9 hours there and back.
Anyhow, IMHO, when you buy an iPod, you’re buying a lot of slick marketing, so I’d look around. Do a google for mp3 player reviews, and see what people are saying.
Thanks Travis- I listened to that instead of George Will on Rove…eeekkkk! Since when is Will in a position to comment on Rove?…where is the left represented?
It all still sounds bad….
Anyway, Back to my childhood…King Tut. I remember watching that Live in a coffee shop on 8th Ave and 53rd St before going out to a club with my sister….
In those days we had Andy Kaufman and Steve Martin…the cast was so great and every Saturday night we would gather round an old TV in a diner to watch it with the club denizens….ah, the bad old days;-)
I agree with PJ for the most part but there is something about the design of the iPod that is fantastic. I am not a Mac person and I find the Mac that my son has to use for school to be completely unintuitive…but I really like the iPod. Of course, I concentrate on ones that have huge capacity. If I was getting a small capacity I might go with another player…I just find this to be such a handy thing in that I can carry everything with me. I dont want to be limited…and if its gig space your buying I think the prices become comparable.
As far as space is working out. I have less than 5 gigs filled so far and its a TON of material…so I dont know if I really need this much. Its just that the 60 and the 30 weigh the same and are the same size so I figured why not? Once the sale was figured in for me it was within the amount I had set aside to do this.
But I am not against any other players…
For some reason I just love this thing more than I should love a piece of equipment!
You all should also make sure that your phones dont have a card slot because that is a great alternative too…a 1-2 gig card in the phone will hold alot too.
Okay, so I went a little nuts with that one. Becky, I hope that trip fixes you up right:40: sippin’ coffee always helps with a brain killer, especially with Floyd in the air .
Also, if you use the headphones, I don’t think any players come with really good quality ones. Personally, I got some earbuds from Etymotic, and I have some open air, foldable Koss ones. Good cans is a good place to look for information on headphones. If you want to listen over your car stereo, the FM transmitters can leave a lot to be desired, so if you have a cassette player (unlike me), the cassette adapters work better. I also picked up a nifty set of Creative travelsound speakers that sound very good for the size of them.
Too many options, too many things to read up on, too much! I’m going Unabomber and moving to a shack in Montana.
No, thanks for all the mp3 player info, really! I’m checking out iriver as we “speak.”
Yeah, Travis, the coffee is working nicely. It may be a tad early for Syd Barrett music, though. :billcat:
Good Morning Seditionistas,
All this talk of mp3 players and ipods has me dreaming but I can’t be spending money on that right now. But if it will help me hear The Marc Maron Show, I will.
Nicky, I have all shows on disc and can burn you one. What do you need?
whatever you get, DO get the ear buds pj said…etymotics are absolutely the greatest things going:ear:. muffles airplane noise, snoring bed partners, nasty repuklicans…..
Thanks, Farmerkat! Good morning to you and Krista and everybody else….
oh, http://www.crooksandliars.com has buckets of info on the c. matthews brew-ha-ha (sp?) plus some rachael video
becky, in answer to another one of your questions, i don’t make a point to get up to hear riley. he just never rocked my world as a solo dude, although he’s a fine fellow. (think the one thing that always irritated me about him is he never seems to have read any of the books the guests have written). i like trms and always have. it’s better than nuttin’ but it certaintly isn’t my first choice. :fire: :fire: :fire:
Oh, Ive wanted the etoymics so badly. I got cheaper Sony Fontopias…they actually are just fine but I dream of some really good headphones. I think that Im too rough on them to really invest but I sure would love to!
Kerry actually did great but it leaves me wondering why he didnt do this even a little when he was running!
Okay man, this is it. We want those pics. We need to get Jason on the phone! He promised the pics today and I’m not seeing them.
The pillows are callin’ my name. I think I may have to give in and let them have what they want. Hey, It’s not like I have a choice.
man, can obama “dance” around the issues (on meathead’s show). guess that’s a us senator for you.
IT’S JANUARY :omg: and saw a couple mosquitos outside today. i think pj’s radio shows are right, the end times are near. 😮
I’m not sure I can afford the etymotic earbuds…they’re as much as or more than the mp3 player!
I’m a bit worried about this weather. It’s damned peculiar to be this warm for this long, innit? Another bad thing is that it’s warmer outside than inside my house. My gas bill doubled last month and I don’t even run the heat much. So now it’s basically off and I’m using space heaters. Thanks for everything, George. YOU SUCK!
our heating bill is the same as last year when it was freezing out!
yeah, the earbuds are costly, but oh so wonderful. i gagged at the price, too. i have a low-grade ipod and am very happy the set up.
And while I’m ranting…what is up with my local AAR station? Not only do they play the same six advertisements constantly, they now have frequent times when they just play this repetitive, generic music. It’s like dead air with a beat. I don’t even listen to AAR that much any more but when I tune in (especially in the evening, it seems), I’m bound to hear two or three of these 1-2 minute music interludes. Do they not even have some public service announcements or self-promoting AAR things to fill that time with?
Good Morning Seditionistas,
I’m new to the blog, and am so happy to find some solace for my Morning Sedition jones.I teach in a Catholic high school in Queens and have running battles too many other teachers about what “progressive and informed” means. The nuns, though, are very supportive. One of them, I’ll call her Sister Cigarrette, loves Marc and misses him very much. She definitely wants to lead the revolution. I had to stop watch the Sunday morning fake news fest. Now I will search for the MS archives that you all are talking about because I haven’t really laughed since Dec. 16th, 2005.
Yeah, the etymotics aint cheap. The Er4’s are definitely out of my price range. I went with the ER6i’s, because I like the extra bass, and because of the noise isolation. The cheapest I’ve seen them is about $85. If I have them inserted properly (which is a phrase that turns me on for some reason), even w/o turing on the music, I can’t hear much of anything. With the sound on, I hear nothing (you will, however, hear yourself chew and stuff, which takes some gettingused to). I have audio books, and when I put these in and fire up the mp3 player, I’m out like a light in a couple of minutes. I’ve been on the same chapter for about a month now. Great for cancelling out airplane noise, too. I only wish they’d had the black ones when I bought them.
Yeah, Becky
Public service announcements would be way more desirable than that jazzac. What our local affiliate does is self promoting short commentaries about the Bush regime that are dripping with sarcasm and are very funny.
http://www.1010kxxt.com/promos.php
I don’t understand why they don’t produce some short informational or entertaining pieces to use as filler when they don’t have any paid ads to run. I mean, have Al tell a few of his old chestnuts, or even some of the writers we don’t hear on-air much – if at all – (like Barry Crimmins, Kent Jones, Jim Earl, etc). Hell, stick a war on brains in there, or a morning remembrance.
Even me reading haikus from the subject lines in my Spam folder would be better than that crap:
All you need for less
High Quality Replica
Erections like steel
Oh man! You guys gotta check these out. I’ve been hearing them on the radio but some I have missed. I’m gonna put all of these on disc too, they’re too funny and KXXT won’t be around much longer. I hope they take the sarcastic guy with them.
I should archive them on my blog. Is that possible? I wonder if I would need permission. Hmmmm.
Welcome, Mimi. I am a relatively new blogger, too. But, long time listener of Morning Sedition. Marc would have loved that he has a “sister” fan base. A lot of Catholic Nuns I have met have a terrific sense of humor. They might like the joke farmerkat told yesterday (If they haven’t already heard it).
Deepak Chopra :billcat:
I guess the problem for me with the earphones is that Ive always got one phone in while Im running round and even if Ive got both in I need to hear whats going on around me…I dont like to isolate all noise because I need to keep an ear out for dogs and children…and cars and robbers when Im out…So, maybe these fontopias are really the ones for me.
I also live in a very quiet place so Im not often looking to cancel out the crickets or the occasional passing car.
When the firetruck goes by we run to the window to see and they honk the horn to say hi!….hows that for a Brooklyn Girl/Former Manhattanite.
Mimi- McLaughlin i svery interesting today and the very beginning of Stephanoppolloouussss with Kerry is good….otherwise it all sucks.
We’re starting to get the clips from the meetings on the west and east coasts from Friday with Belafonte and whoever…Very good….
I just want to see some new commentators!! I want some new ones who arent bought and paid for….
The iPod earbuds are the most astoundingly badly designed headphones I have seen. The big problem is that the wire enters the earbud loosely. Since it isn’t connected with a flexible housing, the wire starts rattling around and it gets amplified so you can hear it! So when I go out and walk or run with the earbud, it starts making these horrific clicking noises in my ear which drives me crazy. Its a new form of torture, worse than water-boarding.
I usually use a generic 1 GB mp3 player in any case.
Okay, the one time I REALLY want to watch George Stephanopoulos (whom I like solely because I can spell his name without looking it up) I have to plan my entire day’s schedule around it instead of just naturally turning it on. 🙁 (I’ll survive.)
Got two recipes for you today. The first one is for soup because I’m in the mood for soup after the cake yesterday.
Pasta Fazool
Serves 4
1 1/2 cups vegetable broth, heated
8 ounces Tomatoes, canned — stewed and chopped
4 1/2 ounces Pasta Shells — uncooked
14 ounces Red Kidney Beans, canned — rinsed and drained
2 cups Spinach, frozen — chopped
1/2 teaspoon Oregano
1/2 teaspoon Basil
3/4 ounce Parmesan Cheese — freshly grated (optional)
In a 2 1/2-quart saucepan, combine the broth and tomatoes, then cook over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook for 7 minutes. Add the beans, spinach, oregano and basil and stir to combine. Cook until the macaroni is tender, 5 to 7 minutes. (If the soup is too thick, add a small amount of water.) Divide the soup into 4 soup bowls and sprinkle each portion with 1/4 of the Parmesan Cheese.
Whatever happened to the good old fashion minidisc player? There’s no tube (or would it be LCD) on it, but it’s functional.
Man, sleepy time! I’m fightin’ it:mad:
gypsy thx for your Medical Insurance Explained comment yesterday. i sent it around to my friends and my sisters.
simultaneous lol and groan.
:rofl2::banana:
Pasta Fazool! Makes me think of The Sopranos!
Travis, do you get any sunlight at all this time of year? Sometimes you sound like a classic case of S.A. D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) that hits almost everyone I know this time of year and we live a good bit south of you.
I’m trhing to find ways to use up some dried soybeans I bought in the mistaken belief that I could use them the way I would other dried beans. The flavor of soybeans just doesn’t go with any of my other bean recipes so now I’m going to have to make my own soy burgers. I think I can use a flaxseed concoction to substitute for the eggs to lower the cholesterol content, too, but I’ll have to look it up. I also think I’ll add some other vegetables and spices. I’ll report back once I’ve tried this.
BTW, how come Obama didn’t deny that Abramoff gave money to the Dems? Did he not realize that was the question or is he turning lily-livered like the rest of them?
Soy Burgers
2 tablespoons Green onion choppd
1 cup Cooked brown rice
1 cup Cooked soybeans
1 cup Toasted sesame or sunflowerSeeds ground
1/3 cupWhole wheat flour
1 teaspoon Salt
2 tablespoons Soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Basil
2 Eggs (or equivalent egg substitute)
SOAK soybeans overnight. Drain and Dry. COARSELY CHOP soybeans SAUTE onions and mix with remaining ingredients. SHAPE into patties and cook on a griddle or in a skillet. OR BAKE patties at 350 for 20 minutes TO KEEP PATTIES FROM STICKING, sprinkle griddle or baking dish with sesame seeds.
I listened to the XM radio show “Left Jab” this morning. It’s only an hour long but its hosted by the guys who started Air America Radio, Mark Walsh and David Goodfriend. As I listened to it, I recalled the scene in the HBO documentary on AAR where Michael Moore hammered Mark Walsh one-on-one in an elevator. Walsh at one time had said that Moore was like Michael Savage and that AAR should stay away from leaning too much left. Moore remembered that and did not take kindly to the statement, basically referring to Walsh in the third-person while talking to somebody else in the elevator. Classic scene.
These guys are truly milquetoast and wouldn’t recommend the program. Nothing the least bit subversive about it.
I find it fairly shocking that AAR is taking Malloy off in New York. He may be “out there” but we need some people who are over the top. :rant1: It sometimes takes that to get through to people…err, I mean sheeple!
:sheep:eple, this seditionists is out of steam. I need to toss in the gloves for the night and call it a day.
:rant1:Damn aircraft flying over my place, I hate it. That fan in the computer, the pipes in the walls, freakin’ fridge in the kitchen. I could write a book about that stuff and how awfully annoying it is when you’re trying to catch some Z. Neighbors bangin’ on the walls, cars in on the road, alarms from three blocks away, garbage truck doin’ its business.:rant1:
Funny, how my local affiliate is way more edgy than it’s mother in NY. Maybe being in a pretty liberal city makes it more complacent. Here, liberals are surrrounded by crazy rednecks with guns so if we stand up at all we’re going to have to be scrappy to survive. Just an observation.
That book would be full of typos, but still.
I agree Becky, I don’t particularly like Malloys’ style but he’s outspoken and doesn’t mince words. We need more of that, not less of it. The crimes of this administration should not be downplayed. People tend to take their cues on how to react to information from the messenger. If the messenger acts like these crimes are no big deal, then the sheeple will tend to see it that way. We need to act the way we feel and I’m telling myself that as much as much as anyone.
Sometimes it’s gratifying to listen to Malloy. I love it that he uses the Bush Crime Family as a standard term. Those sorts of things can enter the lexicon if they are used enough. Is it hyperbole??? Sure! But that’s exactly what Rush does and he’s a damned hero to a lot of people. (GAG) So some people may say that we shouldn’t stoop to that level but I say we should have a few of those crazy nutjobs (Sorry, Mike!) out there in addition to the calm, logical ones. Something for everyone, as it were. Which is what I THOUGHT Air America was going to do!
Happy Sunday, y’all. I’ll “holla back” later! (Is there a southern/redneck smilie?)
I’m way behind on my AAR gossip. What happened to Malloy? And is THAT what Marc will be replacing? I’m not fond of Malloy but he’s perfect for his time slot. Sheesh!
WLIB is taking Malloy off, in favor of the Satellite Sisters (apparently they are being paid to carry them). No home for Malloy in NYC as of yet.
Okay, I just have to share just one more cake. I’m not sharing the frosting recipe because it requires way too many brand specific ingredients, but I think any brown sugar buttercream would work.I also deleted all references to the brand name in this recipe because I’m not fond of the brand but if you must know, email me and I’ll tell you it was Watkins.
(:sammy: made me do it)
Black Pepper Spice Cake
2-1/2 Cups sifted cake flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp Ground Cloves
3/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
1-1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup sour milk
Sift together the first 3 ingredients; set aside. Combine soda and next five ingredients; mix well. Gradually blend in sugars; beating until well combined. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Alternately add half of the flour mixture, then half of the sour milk; repeat using remaining flour and milk. Turn batter into three well-greased and lightly floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool 10 minutes in pans. Turn out of pans onto wire rack and cool completely.
pj, lol at your comments:
:rofl2:
The SATTELITE SISTERS? Replacing MALLOY?
Oy, Danny-boy, you didn’t just take our shoes…you PEED on them! Is this the stupidest move yet? Sorry, Marc and Jim, but this is the stupidest thing ever, even stupider that axing MS in favor of unfunny news and sports. The audience will be totally different and losing Malloy will cost the network more than just his fans. Both shows that lead into his (MR and Randi) refer to Malloy and this is going to create issues for their fans, as well.
Someone at AAR has GOT to realize what kind of stupid errors Danny-pants is making. (Caring or being able to do anything about it is another matter…)
:rofl2: I don’t think I’ll ever look at “inserted properly” the same way. “Honey, that’s not inserted properly” Or change holes for that matter!:hubba:
Farmerkat, your comment:
i looked up that deepak chopra reference you gave. :barf: :yuck:
the man clearly did no research. or wait, was he bought out by the repubs? how embarrassing to say such stupid things in a public forum.
Again, that’s just on WLIB (the largest radio market, and where Malloy won the NY Achievement in Radio Award last year). He’ll still be on elesewhere, but it certainly seems very odd – no matter what WLIB is getting paid to put the Sat Sisters on. They are supposedly shopping for a NY station to syndicate him to.
So do they then hope that Malloy beats their flagship station in his time slot?
Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny (never really worried about the change holes before, but then it’s been a while since I used a pay phone).
Although, reading it just now, I thought to myself, “I’m too old to change holes.”
PJ, I wonder if maybe AAR itself actually has no control over WLIB? That would explain things, but I still see this as being a big problem for everyone.
Well, in order to see Kerry later today I need to get stuff done early so I’ll chat at you all later, seditionisi mio, blog-sibs all.
:fire::fire::fire:
Yeah, I’ve been wasting too much time online. Must get laundry done!:spank:
yep, I agree. huffpo usually has better quality posts. If someone has something good to say about borkalito, give me something meaty, for pitty sake.
somehow the meaty thing goes with the hole metaphore, but I’ll let you all follow those dots! :hubba:
ps the ER6i buds are what I have, too, and travis needs ’em bad! I would NEVER drive with those on – you wouldn’t hear your own car explode.
gypsy, i think folks said Malloy made a point (double hearsay) of saying the decision was not made by aar but by wlib.
i, too, must get back to chores.
NBC cancels West Wing

Awwwwww.. maybe Janeane will come back to The Majority Report.
David Bender would make an excellent politician. Last week he was telling us that Alito was a shoe in .. this week its all up in the air. The left sided press and even the NYT are assailing the democrats ( as they should) for being such pussies on this issue.
Buzzflash has been on the dems case big time for the last two weeks. They get a lot of readers so the nasty phone calls to the Dem senators have to be fierce.
What I like about Malloy is that he is honest. He isn’t caught up in any ego thing. He calls it as he sees it. The anger is real. The other night he was talking about how he used to work for CNN back when they were a real news network, writing the news. It was good to know a little more about him. He said he also was raised in the church, so it’s funny to hear him go at it with the christo fascist zombie brigade callers. He can outdo them in quoting scripture.
Yea, Fred. It seems that this whole culture of pundits making forecasts has somehow taken the place of sheeple taking action.
I have been resting up to start taking action again tomorrow morning on the Alito matter. I have to stay focused and not listen to the MSM and even some of the left leaning media regarding Alito. He must be kept off the court.

I was checking out the Laura Flanders blog yesterday. BTW a neat picture of Laura and Robert Redford. And after her interview with Jon Sinton saying that Marc would be on in the afternoons the bloggers started speculating on what his time slot would be. YBNurmal wrote, “I know how to tell when Maron will be on…WWID (what would imus do?)”

Americana
A man enters a bar and orders a drink.
The bar has a robot bartender. The robot serves him a perfectly prepared cocktail, and then asks him, “What’s your IQ?”
The man replies “150” and the robot proceeds to make conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality, biomimicry, environmental interconnectedness, string theory, nano-technology, and sexual proclivities.
The customer is very impressed and thinks, “This is really cool.” He decides to test the robot. He walks out of the bar, turns around, and comes back in for another drink.
Again, the robot serves him the perfectly prepared drink and asks him, “What’s your IQ?”
The man responds, “about a 100.”
Immediately the robot starts talking, but this time, about football, NASCAR, baseball, supermodels, favorite fast foods, guns, and women’s breasts.
Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test. He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks, “What’s your IQ?”
The man replies, “Er, 50, I think.”
And the robot says… real slowly… “So………….. yaaaaaa gonna vooooote for Buuuuush aaaaagain?”

Woo-Hoo, did you all see the video on crooks and liars with Rachel and Tucker Carlson? Rachel is really taking Tucker to task for comparing Osama Bin Laden to Democrats and finally she said he sounded like Ken Mehlman but less gay. Tucker was startled but Rachel never blinked. But, get this, MSNBC took those two words out of the transcript!

Why are They Rounding Up Tookie Williams’ Friends?
By TOM KERR
On December 9, 2005, four days before Tookie Williams’ execution, ten of his fellow inmates were dislodged from their cells by guards in full riot gear and put in solitary confinement in the San Quentin Adjustment Center, where they remain as of this writing (January 15).
According to two of these men, Steve Champion and Anthony Ross, all are under investigation on charges that they conspired to incite a riot and harm guards if Tookie were executed.
Family and friends of Steve and Anthony are deeply concerned about their status and welfare while being investigated for participating in a conspiracy that each explicitly disavows and that would, at this time in their lives, be entirely out of character.
Both Steve and Anthony have requested polygraph tests to prove their innocence of the charge under investigation, and both have adamantly protested their innocence to family and friends.
For many years, Tookie Williams participated in a study and writing group with Steve Champion and Anthony Ross, both men also former Crip gang members awaiting execution on San Quentin’s Death Row. All were, and the latter two continue to be, passionately dedicated to their own and others’ education, creative expression, and peaceful self-transformation. . .

Apparently the Pakistani word for “bullshit” is “bizarre.”
c-span recorded an interview with the gulf coast czar appointed by the bushies, don powell. i heard the replay of the interview today. twice don powell said “corporation” instead of “cooperation.” i don’t remember the exact quote, but it was along the lines of, we are looking for corporation among the mayors; we are pleased at the amount of corporation in the area.
the bushies can’t even say cooperation any more. they must think it is communist.
what a nitwit. he says anything that’s not going well is because of the mayors. :growl:
Corporations are private tyrannies, where power flows from the top down.
Co-operatives are…

mike malloy IS logical. he’s got a heavy-duty background as a reporter, and he knows how to get his facts straight before he says something.
mike malloy is NOT calm. i can see how people might be put off by his intensity. 😯
i think he’s a jewel.
wlib is crazy to dump him for anyone. wlib is crazy to add the satellite sisters, who are completely apolitical, to the wlib roster.
i don’t know of any other radio station that has such an odd mix of programming. people who like aar programming will not like the satellite sisters. (except for me, i like malloy and the sisters, but i expect to change channels if i want gossip and silliness instead of lefty politics. i’d be put off by having them both appear on the same station.)
KPOJ includes Satellite Sisters in their line-up. Early in the morning. I don’t hate them. But as a replacement for Malloy? Oh well, who am I to try to understand the decisions of businessmen?

Thanks, isi. I was going to post this if it wasn’t already there. Molly Ivins, will you marry me?
Hillary is a fine senator who needs to remain in that office for the duration of her term. Period.
So if Maron’s show ends up airing in West Coast drive-time, that puts him against the Majority Report, correct? Wonder what Sam and Janeane think about that. :growl:
Here’s a great idea that would be incredibly satisfying and hella fun to watch, if the Democrats were actually organized enough to pull it off.
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/012206A.shtml
It would at least keep the State of the Union Address from being a total :jerk:
Hey Kevin, I would like to see that too. The people are SCREAMING:holla: for the Democrats to stand up to this bunch. It’s really hard for me to understand this lay down and roll over tactic. What do they have to lose in the face of what is to come if they get their way with Alito and all the other BS that this administration is trying to pull?? It makes me think they are in on it.:paranoid:
KTLK has Ed Schultz Noon – 3pm (these are all Pacific Time, remember) Randi Rhodes delayed to play at 3pm – 7pm, with MR 7-10 and Malloy 10 – 1am.
So, they could either ditch Ed SChultz, and play Randi live and then Marc for the three hours he deserves (4 – 7), followed by the rest of the lineup as is. Or, since they already delay MR and Malloy, they could bump one or the other back another hour, and give Marc a 1 hour show. Or bump them both 2 hours, even better.
Dump Schultz!
We’ve heard from our Tokyo Seditionists Meet Up, and I’m pleased to report that it appears than noone was arrested, and all have survived (hungover, but otherwise unscathed). Pictures are linked over on the right, under “Friends of the Show,” or you can just click here (note, this link will open in a new window, so if you have a touchy popup blocker – like the google toolbar one – you will need to allow a new window).

:fustrate:so i just went into the truckstop and i ordered a fish dinner i could already tell my waitress wasnt going to do a very good job she was very disinterested 😕 so ok maybe shes having a bad day whatever she still could of put a fake smile:-o on her face ive seen friends of mine waitressing and even on thier worst day they put on a happy face:lol: smile and do thier job so i order and i go up to the “soup and salad bar” the soup has obviously been there all day it has a skin on it about an inch thick :barf: disgusting so i decide to get some salad and the salad tongs have rotten lettuce stuck to them yuck :yuck: but there were two tongs and the second ones were ok so i get some salad put some cheese on it and some mushrooms and then i get to the dressing and all the kinds of dressing that i wanted were totally nasty they either had lots of other dressings in them or they werent the right color which i found strange since i have never seen salad dressing that was not the right color but ok whatever so i got italian it looked ok i go sit down start eating and looking at myspace and morning seditionists :rabbi: read them and then my dinner comes now i was supposed to get rice with the fish dinner but it came out with french fries which i didnt even bother mentioning because they looked good (and they were good) of course since i was still finishing my salad and looking at the internet when my food came i hadnt noticed MY WAITRESS FORGOT TO BRING ME TARTAR SAUCE WITH MY FISH DINNER 🙁 let me repeat that in case you didnt catch that the first time MY WAITRESS FORGOT:eek: TO BRING ME TARTAR SAUCE WITH MY FISH DINNER!!!!! ok so i got over that pretty quick all i need to do is get her attention and have her bring me some so she goes by like five times and i cant get her attention finally i see her look in my direction so i flag her down instead of coming over from half way across the restaraunt she goes “what” 😯 so i go “i need tartar sauce” she stays standing right where she is and goes “i couldnt understand that” so i end up shouting (not real loud but enough for her to hear me) :holla: “TARTAR SAUCE” so about three minutes later i finally get my tartar sauce and its not nearly enough for all my fish but i just deal with it so when i was all done i went up to get some soup i figured there had to be new soup because the thick skinned stuff was almost gone well disgustingly enough it was still there:yuck: and even more disgusting it was lower than it was when i saw it last:barf: so i went back to my table grabbed my laptop bagged it left a dollar coin on the table and left paid for my food and then as i was walking through the store on my way out of the truckstop i stopped looked in the cooler as i passed and lo and behold there it was the perfect thing to follow up my horrible dinner with CHERRY GARCIA ice cream ahhhhhh im eating it while i write this and i must say it is soooooooo friggin good mmmmmmmmmmmmm yes :bow:cherry garcia

50 most loathsome people of 2005
http://buffalobeast.com/91/50.htm
49. Michelle Malkin
Charges: A curious case of racial Stockholm syndrome with a palpable lust for violent ideological oppression and displays of imperial power. Rose to prominence in conservative circles by congratulating white America for its most shameful chapter since slavery, and encouraging a return to form in her book, In Defense of Internment: The Case for “Racial Profiling” in World War II and the War on Terror. Malkin thinks it’s hunky-dory to detain an entire demographic indefinitely if it makes the rest of us feel more comfortable. Her newest, Frenzy, argues that liberals have lost their minds, because they are upset with the direction their country is taking. Her evidence is a carefully collected selection of the dumbest things liberals have ever said, as if she couldn’t have just as easily filled an entire library with the insane ravings of right-wingers. Her accusations of blind hatred and vitriol mimic soul sister Ann Coulter’s classic tactic of psychological projection: whatever Malkin is, she sees in her opponents.
Exhibit A: Internment was so irresponsible that it prompted 40 history professors to sign a letter condemning it.
Sentence: Detained indefinitely without charge and waterboarded hourly for looking at a cop “all slanty-like.”
According to buyblue.org; the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of only 2 NFL teams that contributes more to Democrats.

SeanMS, travisdem_04, and all others,
Good Evening. I am running and working plus slowly reading the previous MEGA Posts. Intensely wondereful.
I sadly will probably be on later — when no one else is 🙁
In my past life (even thru and WHEN A STAFF member)I was and always have , support, and understanding for waitresses. Sean, even a “fuck’d day” that waitress SHOULD SMILE to customers. Thats the truth of them — even thru “hell” they smile TO THE CUSTOMERS. If one was a friend they might see a bit of a tear but then mostly even they will see smiles and A STIFF UPPER LIP with laughter in the WORST times. I just give the bad waitress a great tip, but under an upside-down glass I leave a penny.
Cheers to the yummy Cherry Ice C.
Travisdem_04 and precious pup how are the two of you? I call all dogs pups — no matter the age or size. What’s you pal’s name? I still look at the Alaska Cams cuz they are outrageously cool. 😉

i thought your description of your meal and the unfriendly waitress and the icky soup you didn’t want to eat and the tartar sauce problem was terrific. i laughed. the story had an unexpected happy ending with the cherry garcia ice cream.
no fox in the restaraunt tonight they had some channel that was playing barbershop on so that was another good thing about my dinner experience tonight
:nixon:i like to eat chitlins
i heard on kgo san francisco radio tonight a program that gave details about the upcoming republican bill about huge cuts in publicly funded medicine. they make it just about impossible for medical to pay for sick elderly people to get in nursing homes. the idea is if you’re old and sick your kids had better take care of you and not ask for any public money. thom hartman said this morning that before fdr passed social security, the most common cause of death for the elderly in winter time was hypothermia and in summer time starvation. i guess we’re going back to those good old days. WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS while this is all going down????
the republicans intend to pass their stupid bill on February 1.:fustrate:
:rofl2:obviously they are going to pass that legislation because they love america and know that the people that vote for them want a return to classic american values
apparently im delirious:blech:
here’s a link to an article explaining the diabolical cuts to medicaid (the prez will sign the bill on feb 1):

isn’t newt a heavyset guy? who wants to guess what his diet and exercise habits are like? he’s got a lot of nerve saying this drivel. :spank:
sorry about that sun-sentinel link. it’s so long it’s falling off the page. i don’t know how to use the “link” feature that pj set up. i’ve tried it a few times and got nowhere. everyone seems to know how to use it except me.
Foggy, it’s okay. Here, this may help.

Hi all:grin:
Hi Travisdem04 and seanMS and fooggyblue, but I think it is night night
Bad news = 25 to 30,000 laid off by Ford Motors. Blessings one and all.
Travis where abouts are you again? Is any daylight yet? And you don’t have to answer this — but how are ears? I am glad that others mentioned S.A.D. — shoot we even get it down here in Northern CA, and we are MUSH compared to ALASKA. They say there is intense lights that one can use — but I hear it used more in Washinton. I do not know about getting me out of depression cuz I write better when natual — so if depression is on the plate then :omg: but :lol: =
And SAD bear. (I just saw a repeat “special” about them. Ahhhh nice bear. It is probably a good thing I never made it up there. I am 5’3 1/2″ and I have lived with black bears (mostly males) all around me. The time a male broke into my place (I and another man built). And I make ridicle about what I call “whimps”, which call the black bears so wild “they have to kill them”.:rofl2:
The reason I laugh is I am SUCH a “fluff — city girl” (woman)that if I can deal with bears, mountain lions (which I even saw and heard eating a few times), bob cats, rattlesnakes and all else here — then they are in truth WIMPS. I am “in town now” (with a z (snap)
Sorry, I got started again looking at your bear pix.
I learned sooo much out there in the local mtns.
❗ And you spelt Danu correctly:!: Sorry, I still am having lil-city shock I guess and living a bit vicariously through your Alaska(n) experiences. :fire:
Travis, where in the world did you all find Lisa Murkowski (D) Alaska? She will vote YES on Alito! Although she did not see most of the hearings (out of the country) she said, “…in review of the statements that were made, it goes back to my first impression of the man, an individual who has the credibility, the temperament, certainly the resume…Is he qualified to serve? Yes.”:fustrate:
You know, :sheep:, we are in a very bad place in this country.
We need a revolution. Power to the people. How about a revolutionary emoticon?
😮 I will call her today :omg: “What are the MANY Dems thinking? Bloody “L” Many of us near here are going to meet in February to STRATEGIZE. …:fire:
SeanMS You are probably gone but I was going to ask you, expecially “drivin’ your path” do you ever listen to “Shepards Chapel”?……:fire:
Lisa Murkowski (R) is the daughter to former Senator and now Governor Frank Murkowski (R). He appointed his daughter after he was “elected” Gov.. I wouldn’t bother callin’ her, but it might be fun to any way. She won the senate race in ’04 year against tony knowles, former Governor and Mayor of Anch Town. Lisa and Big Ted-the Hulkster- are doin’ aheckuva job.
I’m in W. Anchorage, Ak. and I haven’t seen the sun in a while. Over a month, at least. We do get sunlight, but it isn’t much. Barrow is insanely dark this time of year.
Druid, my ears are improving very much. I’m able to hear as well as before, but I have terrible tinnitus in my right ear and it feels like I’m weary a very tight pair of glasses.:ear: My ears still feel like they’re detatched. Sometimes I get shooting pains, but what do ya expect when you’ve had your ears cut off.:doh:
I thought that “whore” was the daughter of an ex senator with daddy as gov now — but I was hoping I was wrong and Isi was right, but I see SHE’s an EVIL 👿 rethug. Like father like daughter. RATS. I love and dream of where I have never walked…I think I might call her (her office in Alaska and in Wash DC) just to give her a touch of her own medicine. I do believe in biting the butts of those who BITE FIRST. I use to turn the other cheek as :jesus: put it, but no longer. …. :growl: :rofl2:
:fire:
