This is gonna be one of those “not much to say today” days. Stay off the bridges.
Wow, first, it’s been a long time.
Mornin gang!
not much to say here either.
standing by.
Arizona’s bridges are in fine shape. They’re newer than most of the bridges in this country and the dry weather preserves them.
Here we go. The weekend news dump. More rights being taken away on the weekend when everyone is at the lake. Temporary my ass :fu:
:jason: drove over the george washington and the throgs neck? i think
:crap: :crap: :crap: :fustrate: :fustrate: :paranoid: :paranoid: :paranoid:
❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ Whatever :sheep: le
I don’t think that the war in Iraq has much to do with infrastructure problems
The interstate highway system was built primarily because transporting large numbers of troops and large amounts of material long distances was a real problem during WWII
The auto companies also needed the interstate system to promote sales other wise people would keep using their pulbic transportation
The railroads wanted the interstates so they could offload their passenger service which was labor intensive and screwed up moving long slow trains when they had to be passed by faster passenger trains every hour or so.
Politicians wanted the Interstates so their friend scould make a killing in real estate.
Real estate developers additionally wanted the Interstates so they could build urban sprawl anywhere the land was cheap..
It is well documented that public transportation in California was destroyed in the 1950s by actions of politicians well financed by General Motors and real estate developers who made fortunes from the resulting highway projects.
Republican state governments that were swept into office in the 1990s by the Newt Gingrich revolution made use of the Reich wing radio media to make “low taxes” and “its your money” the in thing so private prisons, the deunionizing of state and local governments and no cash for a rainy day became the norm in state politics.
They had the audiacity to say that money for emergency infrastructure projects had to be put into the state budgets so the use of crystal balls to see what disasters might befall one this year twelve months in advance become popular.
Today most communities in rural Amerika can only be accessed by automobile in many cases over highways that have weeds growing up through cracks in the pavement and potholes big enough to eat a semi wheel. :reaper: :reaper:
Capitalists have typically exploited countries and peoples to drain the last drop of natural resources and and money out of them and then moved on to move lucrative adventures .. leaving the areas in their wake desolate and dilapidated and leaving few ways for the people living there to restart there economies on their own.
Hence the reason we ignore resource poor Africa and already exploited Eastern Europe.
The rethugs are divided into two groups the really smart ones and the IDIOT MORONS Most of the smart ones most often referenced to as “snake oil salesmen” are sociopaths and belong in prison but they as we have seen by examination of the Bush administration end up running things because they are well greased and/or have well greased friends.
I somewhat doubt that all the wishing in the world will get them to change the system so that the well greased do end up in prison and the system is run for the benefit of the people.
Hence :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
Good Day, All. Kristapea, Sunshine Jim, SeanMS, Fred, and ,,,,
I forgot to “brew” some tea so I can say Tea :joe: Cheers. :omg: 😉 Back in a bit *poof
And Mighty King Kong, Good Eve . :yinyang: 😉 :bee: Well
As I remember the roads across the salt river in metro Phoenix all crossed the usually dry river bed “at grade, ie no bridge at all” .. When it rained they just closed the roads and rebuilt them as necessary afterwards. maybe that’s why a disproportionate number of people in Aridzona own 4Wd vehicles. 😮 😯
That was true, Fred. Bridges have been built over most crossings by now though. When they were building the new Mill avenue bridge we got some major flooding and it washed away. I wasn’t able to make it over there in time to see it go but there is footage somewhere. People still try to cross washes and if they have to be rescued it’s a major fine. I think people have 4wd because they think they are rugged individualists and like to tear up the desert. Or they are soccer mom’s who need all that space to haul all their loot home from the mall.
Listening to KPHX I find their typical listener to be much better informed than the typical IDIOT MORONs that might call Jay Marvin.. It might be that if these left sided radio stations all had a Jeff Farias type who has more of a lets fix things attitude than a thats the way it is live with it attitude they may get a better informed and a more left sided audience .. The case of IDIOT MORONS attracting IDIOT MOROINS
Jeff’s a good guy. I wish he was single
I think that “We the people” have to intervene to keep the capitalists from completely milking the SBR’s resources before they and their $$$ move on to China and India or we will find ourselves in the same state of disrepair and dilapidation as eastern Europe finds itself ten years after the Soviet Empire fell.
There are places in the SBR like the rust belt where our steel industry once existed, the upper Midwest and the Mid Atlantic states where heavy industry once flourished, the south east where our textile industry once existed and the west where our mining industry once flourished that are today little more than places where the rich go to retire and the local population become little more than their servants. By the time the IDIOT MORON ( aka the frog in the boiling water) figures out that he is dinner it will be to late to keep the wealth necessary to restart the system from escaping along with the capitalist. :reaper: :reaper:
Rethugs are like locust
I really don’t have much optimism that people will wake up before we’re boiled. I know I should try to be positive and ignore these negative feelings but I think it might be too late. “We the people” have to realize that there are way more of us than “them”. That we hold the real power. :fist:
Well, “we” aren’t much for taking to the streets, I’m afraid. I don’t mean an occasional march or demonstration at a convenient time and place on the weekend, but so many people filling the streets that everything is shut down for a week or two. A general strike is the only thing that will even get noticed, and I don’t know as there’s enough outrage to actually get the people out there. Most of us are too comfortable, and/or can’t afford not to go to work.
When unemployment is at 50% and people have nothing better to do, then they will fill the streets.
Unfortunately, I think they’ll have taken all of our rights away before unemployment gets that high. In fact, I think they’ll probably enact “full employment” legislation, where if you can’t prove you’re employed, they conscript you to serve in their dirty little wars. And if you’re too old to serve? Well, you’ve heard of Soylent Green, no doubt.
The unemployment rate in Europe must have a lot to do with the people making their government afraid of them.. In ten years or so there will be a lot more retired baby boomers in the SBR but most of them will be in the IDIOT MORON class and will accept their deplorable standard of living. as being a result of trusting there government and many of those who realize whats happening will probably not be in any condition to take to the streets. :reaper: :reaper:
I don’t think there were a lot of people taking to the streets in 1776 either.. In fact from what I read a majority of the Colonists figuratively laid in fetal positions under their beds sucking their thumbs hoping the English wouldn’t come and get them during most of the conflict .. The same thing happened in 1812. :reaper: :reaper:
Speaking of losing more rights
Senate endorses expanded wiretap powers
These are of course only for overseas calls but then who is going to see if the call was just an overseas call. :reaper: :reaper:
Please note the democrats are now in charge :paranoid: :paranoid:

Fred, Ahhh the Spirit of The Fight Will Always :bee: Be There
:fustrate: Yes, I was just rereading that very thing several hours ago. :omg: :fustrate: … :growl: :fist: A!I!V!
I tried to be polite. I wish I were more eloquent. But I assume no one reads this stuff so it probably doesn’t matter, but I am really :fu: I wrote to Senator Reid:
Dear Senator Reid,
I have contributed more to and campaigned harder for Democrats than ever before because I believe our nation is in peril from the policies pursued by the Republicans.
I have watched the testimony of Attorney General Gonzalez as he veered from incompetence to prevarication and contempt.
I know that many in our party have been appalled by his performance and so I cannot understand how any Democrat could vote to give this man MORE authority and LESS oversight than he already has.
I know the Democrats fear looking weak on terror but you look weak because you will not stand up for your convictions or your constituents.
Thats because you are not a RICH constituent . :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist: .
Have you ever had a web page email to a member of congress come back to you because you were not in their district or state .. I get that responce from Ploser.
Perhaps a box with a solid state timer :omg: :omg:
You’re right, Fred. I’m nauseous.
I can’t believe that they think this spineless capitulation to the very things they profess to loathe projects a tough image. Perhaps we should send them mirrors so they can see themselves.

extremely eloquent…and the mirror idea is great.
as long as they get it and don’t think it’s a terrorist plot. the air americans best of this week had lee rayburn interviewing the editor of the progressive about his new book, you have no rights, 80 some horror stories of authoritarian overreaching.
he suggested that every member of congress should be sent a copy. the additional gift of a mirror would be highly appropriate.
i’m going to suggest it to the young turks, they;re good at semi-organizing this sort of thing.
Delivered by a Vigilance committee. Put an Oak tree in a large pot on a semi trailer and take it and twenty feet of rope with you . :reaper: :reaper:

More Nature & Environment from Mother Earth Living We are, after all, only human. That explains why we can’t fly like birds — and why we so want to. Certainly, like countless other earthbound homo sapiens since the dawn of our time, you’ve watched a bird make graceful circles high in the sky and thought, if only I could do that.
Chances are you weren’t watching just any bird, though. You were probably admiring one of the true masters of the sky — the group of agile, powerful avian hunters known as raptors, or birds of prey. Given their superior aerial abilities, it’s not much of a stretch to imagine not only any human, but any ordinary flying bird — a pigeon, a robin, whatever — also looking up from an earthly perch, thinking, if only I could do that.

Okay, so, I think I may go and see these guys tonight. I’m not really into demonic sounding vocals and metally guitars but I think there will be some people I know there and I’m not sleepy. Plus it’s not very far away.
