Again this week, I have to ask: “why?” What purpose does it serve to have Rick Lazio as a guest on Bill Maher. Let me be clear, Ricky is nowhere near as annoying as Dana Pigfucker Rohrbacher. He’s just as stupid, though. Maybe even more stupid (assuming there are negative numbers on the IQ scale). I was rather surprised by Suze Orman, though. I never really paid much attention to her before (other than thinking she was an annoying pain in the ass), but I’ll be damned if she didn’t sound like a lefty. Go figure.
Also interesting was Mike Daisey. Bill should probably have had him for the whole hour. I highly recommend you listen to him on This American Life. Listen online, or, if you want to be really ironic (or iRonic), you can get it on iTunes for a buck and listen to it on your iPhone.
It’s Saturday, which is nice. It means I can be exhausted at home, instead of at work. Though I’ll be spending a large part of the day being exhausted at my sister’ house, so I can watch the game (yeah, the SU game; nobody else cares, of course, but it’s about all I’ve got going on that doesn’t suck right now – and that can change at any moment), and so my younger dog can play with his cousins and get away from the stressful house of misery that we have going on with his brother here. He needs a break (and, frankly, so do I).
If I had my shot together, I’d go get some plate steel so I can do some welding later on (or tomorrow). But my shit is typically not together, and today is no different.
God, Rick Lazio really is an idiot. At least he seems capable of keeping his mouth shut. I hope he runs for something.
Yes, Rick Lazio is a dope. Maher’s panels, especially the rightwingers, are often neither edifying or funny. Chris Hayes program and guests, Up, is quite the opposite. I really enjoy it.
Some Vermonters have no sense of humor:

(never have figured out how to post a picture.)
P.S. Look at the cow.
That’s pretty clever. Thanks, Okat. Wonder why that inmate is in the slammer. I’d say that ranks up there with the Wisconsin high school band playing “Union Maid” at the Rose Parade. Love that “under the radar” kind of action.
Well, my son and I are at Paneras for our usual Saturday morning breakfast. I just googled “madonna super bowl” and came up with a link to a story on Gay Today — wouldn’t open because Panera has that website blocked!!! 😮 I didn’t know Panera was anti-Gay. :omg:
Anti-Madonna is my guess. And, I wouldn’t argue against it.
Across the country, activists with ties to the Tea Party are railing against all sorts of local and state efforts to control sprawl and conserve energy. They brand government action for things like expanding public transportation routes and preserving open space as part of a United Nations-led conspiracy to deny property rights and herd citizens toward cities.
They are showing up at planning meetings to denounce bike lanes on public streets and smart meters on home appliances — efforts they equate to a big-government blueprint against individual rights.

I’ve seen and heard Daisey on several shows including twice on Up with Chris Hayes and he is great. I think he started his show out here originally. I haven’t cued up the Maher appearance yet. I have been catching up with the Comedy Central shows and watching Chris Hayes this weekend.
As for Ms. Orman, she did some time in Berkeley and worked at a nice restaurant called the Buttercup. I don’t follow all of that finance stuff but she doesn’t seem to be the typical money sage. I did watch the SB today in Berkeley with friends and had a good time that didn’t have much to do with the game. Someone thought Steven Wright would be good for half time next year. I didn’t care who won but in retrospect, the fact that Brady has 2 SB losses and now will never be considered on par with St. Joe of Montana works for me.
