Anchor Bob Woodruff Seriously Injured In Iraq
(AP) NEW YORK ABC News co-anchor Bob Woodruff and a cameraman were seriously injured Sunday in an attack and explosion while reporting from Iraq.
The two journalists were traveling with U.S. and Iraqi troops near Taji, about 12 miles north of Baghdad, when an improvised explosive device went off, ABC News President David Westin said. Both were in serious condition and undergoing surgery at a U.S. military hospital in the area, the network said.
Both Woodruff and cameraman Doug Vogt were wearing body armor and helmets, the network said. The two had embedded with the 4th Infantry Division and traveling with an Iraqi Army unit.

Well, I said I wondered if what’s behind people like Byrd and Landrieu not supporting a filibuster is that Frist and the thugs are telling them, “vote for a filibuster, and you’ll never see a penny for New Orleans reconstruction,” or “support Alito, or we’ll table mine safety reform,” or just flat that they’ll kill any pet projects. I also said a few other things, I guess (like I saw no political downside to this, and the best thing might be that we’ve proven that we don’t need to rely on the traditional media to get the message out, and that we’ve proven to ourselves that we can literally force our representatives to pay attention to us).
Oh, and I said the Morning Seditionists were 100% behind the filibuster.

I feel I don’t have a plan right now about contacting senators. I emailed all of them yesterday. I can’t afford to call long distance numbers. I wish we had a new update on who to concentrate on. Maybe, the senators dip67 mentioned earlier. Last night Laura Flanders, mentioned that congressmen/women need to be contacted because even though it is a vote in the senate the senators consult with the rep’s. I know Rep. Harold Ford from D-TN who is planning to run for Bill Frist Senate seat has said he does NOT support the filibuster. Also, there is the issue of asking the senators to stay away if they don’t support the filibuster to keep the repug’s from getting 60 votes to cut off cloture. I’m not sure when a good time to start that mantra would be.

There have been multiple calls in the progressive internet for Harry Reid to step down, notably from Buzzflash.com. The issue is not whether he should remain a senator from Nevada. Indeed his declared INDIVIDUAL support for the filibuster earns him that. But the role of a leader is not to take his hand off the rudder and walk away. And it is not acceptable for a coach to declare to the media and his team that they are going to lose in the middle of the third quarter.
Even if there were a couple senators who HAD to oppose the filibuster, and that is increasingly doubtful in the face of the public outpouring now taking place, what a LEADER would do is designate a couple byes and still lock in at least 41 certain votes. He would twist arms or promise favors to arrive at that result. If Reid can’t or won’t do the job he MUST be replaced with someone who can. But there may be reasonable differences of opinion, so again, we have made the above action page a voting page where you can vote either way, and add whatever personal comments you like.

I have to say I’m blown away with both cenk (isi, you’re so right about his views on the horrible biden), and my god, thom hartman–he’s so much better than I thought. I always kind of liked him, but he’s actually been so damned informative, it’s amazing.

I studied this era in law school, and it was a sick time when the SCT routinely invalidated lots of labor laws and other laws that protected health and safety. it is standard in law school to note that this was an abuse of SCT power and the era has been discredited.

If you consider the bandwidth of the streaming media outlets now web casting this Young Turks Filibuster of the Filibuster and the streaming problems heard on so many of them that are probably caused by server overload there must be a huge number of people listening. Whatever happens in the next few days, as always the Media will do whatever they can to make Democrats look bad. Here’s my advice to Democrats who stand for the Constitution, DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM. Don’t let them explain you. You explain why you oppose Samuel Alito’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.
