Hey, is anybody going to see Marc at the Paramount in Aurora, IL tonight? Looks like a great place to see a show – any show.
Well, if you do go, tell him everybody here says “hey,” and we’d sure like to know how long his show’s gonna be, and when and where it’ll be on. And if he knows why this information seems to be a better kept secret than the undisclosed location of Dick Cheney’s crypt, we’d like to know that, too.

So, how much play will this get in good ‘ole Amerika:?:
There’s an echo in here…….:billcat:
Mike Malloy talked about the new memo last night. He also said that the has come to the conclusion, finally, that the Bush Crime Family orchestrated the attack on this country on 9/11. I know Travis and I were listening. Freaked us out. He mentioned the Northwoods Operation, too.
the new memo is on CNN’s Europe page, not US National news… WTF :growl:
****
I’d have to hear that one..i thought gross negligence, but orchestrated:?:
On a personal note, my three sisters have grown over the years into stellar members of the Christo Fascist Zombie Brigade. One brother-in-law even works for Halliburton. They look normal, two are teachers and one is a community volunteer (you know sorta like the junior league.) I don’t discuss politics or religion and try to ignore it when they do. But, yesterday, one sister sent me this. She has really jumped in hook, line and sinker. :holla:
SPECIAL ALERT! NBC to mock the Crucifixion of Christ
NBC, fresh from giving us the anti-Christian The Book of Daniel, has decided to hit back at the Christian community by presenting an episode of Will and Grace which mocks the crucifixion of Christ.
On the April 13 edition of NBC’s Will and Grace, Britney Spears will appear as a Christian conservative sidekick to Sean Hayes’ homosexual character, Jack, who hosts his own talk show.
Jack’s fictional network, Out TV, is bought by a Christian TV network, leading to Spears contributing a cooking segment called “Cruci-fixin’s.” To further denigrate Christianity, NBC chose to air it the night before Good Friday.
NBC does not treat Jews, Muslins or other religions with such disrespect. Yet the network demonstrates a deep of hostility toward followers of Christ.
isi, i’d tell your sister she needs to start wearing the tin-foil hat and send her the picture of the hat.
deflector beanie :rofl2:
It’s so upsetting because they are all over 50, they’re not going to change. I emailed her back that the “christian” wingnuts are the ones mocking christ.
Malloy talked about Operation Northwoods last night during his discussion of Bush’s complicity in 9/11.
You know it’s only a matter or time before one of the jesus channels has a Cruci-fixinโs cookin’ show. First up, roadkill stew and possum pie.
pj, yeah, I wondered if there is a christian cooking show that they are doing a spoof of.
I feel like my sisters have blood on their hands for their endorsement of Bush’s murderous tactics in the name of Christ. That thought doesn’t make for very warm feelings toward them.
:rofl2:
gypsy could make a fortune:!:
Oh, well, killin’ is all part of doing god’s work, except for those unborn babies and stem cells. Once they get shot out into the world, though, they’re fair game.

Good Morning
Hey Buddy, what’s up?
By the way, if you want to watch the BBC Channel 4 news story on the Bush/Blair memo about Bush’s desire to lure Iraq into war (but that we’d invade regardless), you can get it here.
Also, the Bush Crimes Commission is here.
I don’t know how we’re going to manage an invasion of Iran. They’re going to need to start drafting kids now, unless they just intend to use nuclear weapons.
I’m a participant in Zogby online polls, and the last one I did had a bunch of questions about Iran – including: if Iran used a nuclear weapon on the US, would you support the use of nuclear weapons against them? They also asked the same thing substituting Isreal/US Allies/Another Middle East Country.
Just the idea that they’d ask this (about a country which is at least 10 years away from making a nuclear weapon – if that’s their intent) is very creepy, and scary. Especially with things not looking so good for the neocons in the ’06 elections.

It’s the only time I’ve ever wanted to be in Aurora, Ohio. Lucky them!!
It’s great that people understand the value of comedy. I wish it was the same for dance. Imagine all the $being spent on Iraq :growl:going instead to dancing, singing, making music, and painting with the people of Iraq.:
A friend and I are so upset by the lunacy of life today, we want to write an oped article that suggests funding all the dancing schools and martial arts centers in Monroe County so that all- kids and adults alike –could attend either or both types of these classes.
My friend is the artistic director for a local dance company and I’m a dance/movement therapist so we see the benefits of dance all the time: the freedom to express all feelings (+ or -) in creative ways that do not hurt anyone, and experiences grounded in the bodymindspirit unity that result in mastery, community, elf-confidence, and responsiblity. Imagine using dance, music, and the martial arts to promote civic participation and connection.
Not time to dwell on these thought–have to clean up the mess in my house. My husband jokes that the government has conspired to make us home owners so that we have no time to work for change.
Itโs the only time Iโve ever wanted to be in Aurora, Ohio. Lucky them!!

Hey Ms. Doc, Marc is in Aurora IL. Aurora OH is where Sea World is/was. Not sure it’s open anymore. They had to ship the animals south every year so they wouldn’t freeze their fins off in the winter.
That theater looks like a great place to see a show. We used to go to the Civic Theatre in Akron to see concerts when I lived there. Same rococo style of theater, built in the 1920’s and restored. There’s a similar venue in downtown Tampa as well.
Melina, thanks for the iPod advice on yesterday’s thread. I think I’ll venture out next weekend. We had seriously heavy rain yesterday from 7 AM until 3 PM straight, then sporadically after that. I had to walk through twelve inches of water when I left work. Some of it is still around… the sun doesn’t seem to want to come out and dry it up.
So Malloy is now on the bandwagon with those of us who suspect Bush caused 9/11? Welcome aboard, Mike. It’s still a small bandwagon, but growing all the time.
:fire::fire::fire:
Well, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me. Whether the neocons actively caused 9/11 by orchestrating the attacks, or deliberately ignored the intelligence to create conditions where such a thing was possible, then ordered the Air Force to stand down when they saw the attacks were underway, I don’t know. I certainly wouldn’t put it past them. Of course, we’ll never know. If if some future administration makes an effort to find the truth, there’s no way they’ll tell we the people. We’re too delicate.

Okay I’m off to go protest Bush in downtown Phoenix. I don’t think he’s here or anything, I think it’s an Impeach one. I will try to get some pictures, but they will be crappy cell phone pics but oh well. Later Seditionists!:nixon:

Did you hear? Grandpa Munster died. I was surprised to discover that Al “Grandpa” Lewis was quite the lefty. I remember reading an interview he did with a prominent anarchist magazine. Al Lewis, actor, comedian, radical hipster, RIP:sdavid:

Alexander Cockburn: Counterpunch weekend edition, Feb 4/5
…Bush’s call to reduce US “dependence” on Middle Eastern oil by 75 per cent by 2025 has zero credibility.
His other proposals were equally remote from political reality, and sometimes comical. At one point he declared in ringing tones that “Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research–human cloning in all its forms … creating or implanting embryos for experiments … creating human-animal hybrids …”
“He just blew the centaur vote,” I muttered to my dog Jasper, imagining the inevitable reaction from the president of the Chiron Society, deploring in hoarse terms an American president “pandering to the old Lapith-sponsored slurs on the centaur community.”
I waited for the post-speech commentators to pick up on the human-animal hybrid ban, almost the only feature of interest in the entire speech, but they passed it by. Jay Leno finally picked up on the animal-human hybrid on Thursday night. He ran the relevant clip from the speech, (where Bush had muffed the phrase, saying huma…uh…animal-human hybrids), then cut to the Congressional audience, where they’d put a dog’s head on some woman member and had the dog growl.
It seems that what Bush’s “human-animal hybrids” ban actually referred to is low-level Frankenstein-lab stuff like injecting human DNA into pig’s livers to make them more hospitable to transplants, not centaurs and the like. But I’m sure human-hippopotami are being plate-tested in the labs of General Foods, to ensure continued and profitable voracity in an American market were humans are at max capacity in bloating both themselvesw and the food industry’s bottom line.
Hybrid cars, running on gasoline or electricity, are all the rage these days among the virtuous set, even though there are probably no end savings in terms of total energy inputs into manufacture, also in servicing and replacing those $4,000 batteries. A friend told me the other day that the net gain in efficiency–not relating to top speed or comfort — of autos since the Model T is under ten per cent. A man in Chico rebuilds Model T engines and gets terrific efficiency out of those old four-cylinder engines. . .
http://www.counterpunch.org
pj was ahead of the media curve on the animal hybrid statement by Bush.
Godspeed to Mr. Farmerkat.
ReplayAV is a onetime payment of $50 for the software. No monthly subscription. Basically, if you can stream it from the Internet, you can record it. You can use it as a podcatcher, too. Replay Radio is ten bucks less (for the $10 extra, you can capture streaming video, save multiple streams at the same time, and record without using your sound card – so you can listen to something else while you’re capturing other show(s).
I must say, it seems to work as advertised, and I’m quite happy with it.

Shadow Interview with Al Lewis (Shadow#43)
…SHADOW:In the demonstrations back in those days were there ever
problems with the police? Did they try to attack people?
LEWIS:Did you just come to this country? (Laughs) What are you
talking about? The police are here to protect property. They’re
not here to protect the public! So, what the fuck are you asking
me? Of course! Name me a period when the police…(laughs)
SHADOW:So these demonstrations for Tom Mooney, and labor
demonstrations…
LEWIS:Warren K. Billings, organizing the CIO, and District 65,
and the UE, and NMU. All that was going on and the police were
there to see that you didn’t do it. And if they could get away
with it, they’d beat the shit out of you.
SHADOW: And people would resist?
LEWIS:Well obviously. And unions were created. We used to have a
saying: “If you don’t get the asses of the masses out in the
street, forget it.” And you get enough of them out there, the
ruling class gets scared. That’s the only thing they’re afraid
of, is numbers. Numbers!
See, one thing you have to understand. There’s very few
people understand, especially people who deal in outlaw
newspapers and magazines. The ruling class is smarter than you,
and they’re more creative. And if you forget that lesson, you go
down the drain. Because if they weren’t, they wouldn’t be around
as long as they have been and as strong as they have been. It’s
not an accident. Not an accident. Never underestimate your
opponent. They’ll tell you that if you’re a fighter. Never
underestimate. You can poke fun at ’em, you can do satire, but
they work 24 hours a day. It’s like Lord Acton said: “Power
corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.” I say that power
works 24 hours to remain in power. Throughout history. Go back to
kings, feudal times. The same thing. While you and I, here we’re
bullshitting, and then we go out: “Tompkins Square, blah, blah,
blah…” Their fucking machine works 24 hours a day, man. It
grinds, it grinds. Otherwise they don’t stay in power, they
topple.
SHADOW:So what do you think people can do in response to that
power? What do you think we have to do?
LEWIS:First of all, (laughs) you have to agree that these people
shouldn’t have the power. Go on Eighth Avenue and 35th Street and
ask what the junkies do. They’re looking for a fix. What do they
do?
You see, a junkie once told me an unanswerable question. He
said: “I take this junk so the shit that’s in front of me and the
shit that I smell disappears. What are you gonna replace it
with?” What do you replace it with? A tract? “Jesus loves you?”
What? “Socialism is your answer?” The guy’s looking for $15 to
hit you and I on the head with a lead pipe to meet the man to get
the fix. I have no answer for that. He has to find that answer. I
can deal with somebody who’s not in that kind of position and try
to talk, and I do the best I can.
You see, the thing is, and I don’t mean this in a denigrating
way, but you’re “Johnny-Come-Latelies.” Like in the Sixties,
there was a thousand underground papers. I read them all. I used
to have them all sent to me in California. Everybody in this
society wants the quick fix, like the junkie that we just talked
about. So do the radicals, whatever you want to call them, a
bumper sticker. Put it on your car. “I’m a radical,” “I’m a
lefty,” “I’m a progressive,” “I’m left of center.” It’s all
bullshit. I learned a long time ago — I’ve been in the struggle
over seventy years — it doesn’t bother me I may not win…

It sounds like the plot to “Minority Report.” Can’t say for sure since I’ve never seen it. Can anyone who’s seen that movie throw in their two cents?
Personally, I’m boycotting all things Tom Cruise due to his religion-fueled nutjob behavior. Not to mention his defilation of Katie Holmes. I wanted that to be MY job. :hubba:
Al Lewis was much more than a bit plaer on the TV. I only streamed a few of his Saturday shows at BAI years ago. Cut from the same cloth as Studs Turkel. People who knew what it used to be like and what sacrifices it took to get us this far.
It ate my link!

Good Luck and godspeed to Mr. Farmerkat!:jesus:
That’s a great interview Nicky. I didn’t know Grampa Munster was that outspoken, yet it makes sense. Did he write anything?
Grandpa was great. He ran for Governor here in NY on the Green Party line back in 1998.
He said his first political work was for the Sacco and Vanzetti defense committee, and he worked in the 1930s to free the Scottsboro Boys, and he also worked to free Mumia Abu-Jamal and Leonard Peltier.
Grandpa participated in weekly vigils against the antiquated Rockefeller drug laws and also spoke out against the privatization of hospitals and waste transfer stations, the bulldozing of community gardens, and continued burning of coal for heat in many New York schools, which contributes to high levels of asthma and other illnesses in poor communities, and was a vocal advocate of free universal health care.
He was born just north of me – in Wolcott, NY – but moved to Brooklyn (where his mother worked in a sweatshop), at a young age. He was a circus dung-shoveler at age 13, and worked his way up to clown, unicyclist, and trapeze artist. He also worked as a waiter, a basketball scout, and a labor organizer in the 1930s and 40s. He got a BA Education from Oswego State Teachers College, and earned a Ph.D. in child psychology from Columbia University in 1941, then decided to study drama, and went back to burlesque, vaudeville, and even Broadway. He even opened an Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village.
He was a real renaissance man, who never forgot where he came from.
Wishing the best of luck to Mr Farmerkat!! Please keep us informed!
I was just out and listening to Marc’s new CD. I think that the new one is actually funnier than the old one, but they both are good. If he sent out the wrong one you can probably write him and ask him for the right one. Im sure he will send it along. We dont even know if he is doing the shipping himself though when I got the first one last year he sent it from NYC and it was written the same way…I think….same sorta handwriting anyway.
Anyway, I was walking round in Bob’s discount while my son was at a gaming tournament trying not to laugh and I kept snorting out these stifled laugh. People thought I was crazy…it sort of reminded me of having MS every day. I love the piece on his father and waking up in the morning!
I think that its just that the material is so much more timely on the new one and he is more in his radio groove…the production is also better.
Anyway…I suggest having both eventually…so get the other one too!
Farmerkat, I also suggest the Replay AV. Its a one time charge and the only thing that is a drag is the muzak on the feed…but I fast forward though it on the iPod.
The podcasts had the commercials removed so it was easier to listen…but then you can get podcasts like Ricky Gervais and whatever else youre interested in.
I love this one called DiggNation which is some sort of tech geek one that they do once a week. I also like Kieth Olberman’s favorite clip of the day….and I cant wait for Mahr to start again because Im relistening to what Ive got of his on my pod. Now, they dont charge for Mahr and that is HBO….I cant see how DG can justify charging, even if they offer video.
If the video thing really starts happening I might be swayed for one or two shows…but Im against it in general unless someone cant keep a web connection….I wish he wasnt such an idiot.
Anyway, I just had a run in with a neocon and I started blogging about it on the road on my new little phone with a little keyboard, so Im gonna try to finish that now.
Kevin- Im selling my old iPod on ebay and its ending this evening…its already up to $250 used!…So, they keep their value. I figured I would throw in a little more and get the new video one mainly because its smaller and I ahul so much stuff around that I really want to lighten up…and I like the little videos too! The used ones go like hotcackes on ebay. So, I think thats another plus for the iPod…if you want to upgrade or you find youre not using it, you can always sell it and get most of your money back. I got the old one thats now on ebay for $350-ish (ther is also the buy.com $30 off if you open their credit card.)…and I expect to get close to $300 back for it…maybe $275…Isnt that crazy? I guess that people dont want to do the research and find them for less than $399, which is the list price. If you look or use a school discount they can be had for less than that but you have to really put time into it….
These things are like Toyotas…they are a little too cute and styled but they work great and hold their value!
…
Oh andyou should see my new phone…another thing that Ive saved for and researched for a year….finally got that the other day with no sale or anything, but it had been long planned…it is so cool! Even does windows!
signed, tech geek Melina
All the best to the Mr. on his journey, Farmerkat. I lit a candle a little while ago before I read this so I hope that counts! If not, I’ll blow it out and light it again! Sending all good thoughts your way….
On the subject of Iran, an old boyfriend of mine is Iranian and currently lives in Tehran. We recently reconnected through the internet…it’s great to hear from him but what timing he has! Of course I’m wondering if my emails and instant messages are being viewed by outsiders. Is there any way to tell???
PS…If I disappear, call the ACLU!
Positive thoughts to Mr. Farmerkat from this side of the planet too.

It means, if a dog has a choice between catfood and cat poop, it will have a moment of indecisiveness and then choose the cat food before devouring the cat poop.

Okay–been an occasional lurker, but since today’s blog asked…
YES!!
We saw Marc at the beautiful Paramount Art Theater in downtown Aurora IL, and he was TREMENDOUS! :rofl2: He had some snide commentary on following a juggler, but the juggler brought in quite a few families–with kids, for whom Marc’s show is not exactly, well, appropriate. He didn’t tone it down much, or any, that I could see, but he used a 12-year-old in the front row as a foil to riff and riff and… He circled around back to set pieces, his “act,” but it SEEMED largely extemporaneous, and I’ve never laughed so long and hard in my life. I basically know Marc only from Morning Sedition; the only times I’d seen Marc was on the last Conan and a bleeped out version of his HBO Comedy Half Hour appearance, which were good, but I never expected such a fabulous 90+ minutes of comedy based on those.
The downside was that the place was only half filled, and at $25 a ticket, I don’t think they made any $ on the show ๐ and probably won’t have him back.
So if anyone gets the chance, I definitely recommend seeing him live. And I wish I hadn’t obeyed the ban on recording devices ’cause this was a treasure.
:fustrate:you didnt sneak in a recording device? come on we need new tapes to circulate!!!!!
Dude, I live in Alaska. The last comedian I saw was Kevin Smith……what’s w/ those damn shoes?? Checkers!
Marc better make it the north, then I could secretly tape it and send it to ya.
ha ha fox news was just being all upset they were well if it was a fox news guy instead of woodruff there would not be nowhere near as much coverage as woodruff got nor the outpouring of sympathy argh i cant stand this they are all over the place today driving me friggin nuts:roll:
:spank:take that fox news
Sorry, Sean. Thought about it, but no. We were in row 12, so it would’ve been a good recording, too.
Now that AAR is going “premium” for podcasts and no one seems to know when Marc’s show will be airing or even where it’s airing besides KTLK …It seems like it’s going to be hard to hear the show, except, of course, by ponying up for “premium.”
when i get out by los angeles i get to catch live stand up there and vegas friggin awesome i  stand up travis does kevin smith even count? i love him and all but i dont think he even counts you could probably get lewis black up there i know he does shows in the middle of nowhere wisconsin

flancat, thanks for the review of Marc’s show. Did you go up and talk to him after the show?
Isi,
Nope, he walked off stage and … Because there’s construction/remodeling around the theater, we couldn’t figure out how to get to the stage door; the usual way would have required a swim in the adjacent Fox River, and it was snowing and about 20 degrees, so that was out.
We figured out from Marc’s and the juggler’s comments (the juggler was not that bad; I expected him to be horrid, and he at least kept my attention) where they were staying, a Comfort Suites a few blocks from the theater, and where they had eaten before the show, Walter Payton’s Roundhouse, adjacent to the hotel. So we went to Payton’s after the show hoping Marc would want a post-rant snack, but if he was there, we didn’t see him. It’s a big venue–restaurant, several bars, Walter Payton Museum, many banquet facilities, an entire railroad roundhouse–so we could have missed him, but we stationed ourselves at the bar right by the main entrance where we would have seen him if he’d come in. Hanging out at the hotel would’ve been better, but then we’d have looked like stalkers. And btw, who’s Jared (sp?) Marc called up to some guy in the balcony as if he knew him and implied he was a guy who came to all his shows. Maybe Marc hung out with him after the show instead of going out. Too bad, ’cause we really wanted to say hi to him. We were wearing MS t-shirts, after all:wink:

Thanks for the show review Flancat. When Marc played a series of shows in LA I wasn’t able to go to any of them because of previous engagements. I told my friend in Chicago to go but she forgot about it.
I drove the 4.5 hours from St. Louis to Aurora with my fiance to see the show and it was a blast. Maron was in top form, and he ended up going way over his time… which was a treat for all the MS fans in the audience. After the show, true to his word, he came out on stage to sign playbills, cd’s, and books (yes! people brought Jerusalem Syndrome copies for him to sign) and he talked to people for a while. I wish I could have stayed longer to talk to him, but I had to drive back to St. Louis after the show.
The thing with the 12 year old kid was great though. Very very funny. By the time the show was over I felt exhausted, but in a good way. A complete comedic and philosophical workout.
A few people did stand up and leave during Maron’s bit, but screw ’em. They were there for the juggler anyways.
Cool. I hope I get to see him in my neck of the woods some day.
Hey, Nighthold!
Don’t know if you’ll cruise back to see this reply, but…
Glad you got to talk to Marc after the show. We waited a little while but apparently not long enough:doh:
The first to leave were the Rethugs, who obviously didn’t like the too-brief political rants. The f-word didn’t get ’em, nor blow and auto-eroticism. Just the self-evident truth that “Bu$h is the anti-Christ.”
Anyway, very cool that you drove up from STL. We spend quite a few weekends in STL during baseball season, so if you want to get together for a Seditionist drink or dinner, add my Seditionist moniker to yahoo or lycos to get my email.
flancat
Hey Flancat, glad you enjoyed the show too. Yeah he came out about 4 or 5 minutes after the show, just walked out on the stage and started talking to people and signing programs. Said a few things about the cancellation of MS, and discussed the new show. Said that AAR might have some extras for premium subscribers, specifically there may be some clips of him and Jim Earl yellin at each other… sounds funny.
Anyhow, yeah St. Louis is cool. If you want to get together, or just talk my email is mtcantor@gmail.com.
As a side note, I just listened to about 2+ hours of The War on Brains last night, and I have gained a new appreciation for Jim Earl. Every time the guy says Xanaduuuuuu I crack up.
