Finally, the friggin’ Iowa caucuses are here. It’s way too early for this, but I’m sick of hearing about it already. My personal hope is that John Edwards does well. I’m tired of Kos’ conventional wisdom that says accepting matching funds is a loser proposition, and I’m tired of Hillary’s “inevitability,” and I’m really tired of hearing Obama talk a lot while saying pretty much nothing.
I’m also pretty tired of the Hillary haters. I’m not a supporter of hers, and I don’t want her to get the nomination, but I don’t feel the hatred toward her that so many people seem to. She’s a calculating politician type and I don’t especially trust her, but her voting record is, for the most part, pretty good. I’m pretty tired of the Obama true believers, too. They seem to be filled with so much venom, as they bask in the glow of Mr. Hope, Change, and Compromise. To me, Obama has about as much substance as dryer lint, but I don’t feel animosity toward him. But, whatever.
On the other side, I’m tired of all those fuckin’ loser Republicans. I’d sure as hell hate to get stuck with another one of those yo-yos until 2012. There isn’t any one of them I’d vote for over any of the Democrats (or any chance I just wouldn’t vote).
So, I guess we’ll see what happens.
What PJ said. :tommygun: :cake: :tap:

Its already above freezing here ,.. supposed to be 50 something today maybe 60 by Saturday :nana: :hot: :reaper: :reaper:
Re #3, I am whining. The temp here is in the high 30’s/ low 40’s, but the damp seeps into your bones and if your circulation isn’t supercharged, it takes a long time for hands and feet to warm up. :billcat: :cold:
Its already above freezing here

Not us. A crisp 32 degrees outside. Colder over in Tampa. I think the last time I wore two jackets was when I was ten years old. Brrrrr.
We don’t have much work, so I might blow off early and go to the movies. They held No Country For Old Men and I’m Not There over another week, or maybe I’ll just go for laughs and catch Walk Hard.
All of this is assuming my pilot light comes back on at some point. :cold:
Looks pretty cold down there in Florida. I hope Kevin finds a way to keep his fruit warm.
Good morning. It’s cold and windy here in Brooklyn. We’re going to talk to the vet later. I will know more (I hope) this afternoon.
SouP ( :rofl2: I can’t believe I just “naturally WROTE “soup” :smack: MY BAD :smack:   Blame Hmmmm I wonder who? HIS BAD :spank: ) A!I!V!

I have to question the seriousity of some radio folks on this Iowa caucus day with New Hampshire just around the corner.
Randi Rhodes off. Stephanie Miller off. Anyone else?
At least you get Seder for Randi which is a tremendous improvement.
This is what farmers are doing to keep their fruit warm. Maybe Kevin should try it.
btw, pj, your statement pretty much sums it up for me. Interesting how everyone below the top 3 are off the page and shuffling. The most interesting thing about them will be how they exit. I would like to see them all move toward Edwards but I don’t see that happening. I cannot imagine someone taking another side in fear that Hillary takes it all with that long memory. I would take anyone not throwing their support to another candidate when they quit to mean they fear the Clinton juggernaut.
Or that they’re looking for a cabinet position/VP.
I can see Richardson as Hillary’s VP, or perhaps Energy Secretary. Biden would probably make a strong Secretary of State for any of them. Dodd, I think, would be a good Senate Majority Leader. Poor DK, I don’t think will get any respect from anybody. I really don’t like that he was ignored. While his odds of winning were perhaps low, it was important for his message to get out there to expose how far right the others are.Who else is left? I forget.
again, I’m with you. I really do not see anyone (except maybe Richardson which bothers me) going with Clinton because I think their hearts are elsewhere. Dodd has declared neutrality and I am pretty sure he wants to be Majority Leader and I wish that they could hand that to him yesterday. I don’t feel so sorry for DK. I can’t really think of where I would like to see him save him being able to remain in Congress. I just hope he does not fancy himself as Nader du jour.
Did I FINALLY make it HOME? I was “frozen” somewhere out there in ComputerLand :omg:
I (sniff) need to Infuse mass quantities of Tea. “Open Vein!” ..A!I!V!
I don’t think a left-wing third party candidate would be at all viable at this point. Not after Bush. People saw what happens when you sink the non-perfect candidate. You get the totally evil one.
I think a third-party candidate on the right could steal some votes from the Republican, though. A good, god-fearing, gay hating, abortion fighting, rightwing nut could take votes away from whatever chucklehead the Republicans come up with. Unless they nominate Huckleberry. But then the rational middle of the road Republicans will have a tough time going for that. Unless Hillary’s the nominee. I think so many people seem to hate her on all sides that she could keep sane people from coming out to vote, while encouraging the lunatics, which might be bad for the House and Senate candidates.
A Bloomberg run could make things really interesting, too.
Just listened to DK on Hartmann. As annoying as Hartmann can be, Dennis seemed to be picking a fight that wasn’t there.
eya gang!
just dropping in to say hi!
still busy here. thanks for the links RAGING Granny!
We’re all the way up to a balmy 47 degrees. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions as to how to keep my fruit warm. Believe me, I had no low-hanging, free-dangling fruit this morning standing at the bus stop.
As for freezing my berries, I would only consent to it if I knew there would be helpful assistance available when it came to thawing them out. So there. :hubba:
Not Larry Craig or Jeff Gannon, either, wisesasses.

BTW KevinM, re 24 & 25 … :rofl2: :rofl2: ๐
Up to a very bright and sunny 6 degrees, here. And I went and forgot my sunblock.
We just got home from the vet. Minnie is healing extremely well. She thinks that there may be a chance that no further treatment is needed or if treatment is needed, she think it is likely to be successful. At any rate, she says that Min’s leg has to heal first and that there is no need to rush for treatment.
Having thought a lot about this, and assuming we can afford treatment, I will only do it if there is a good chance of success and we do not have to torture the dog. (sorry, Bushco, I know that disappoints you.)
Druid, did you say you “naturally” wrote Soup? :spank:
The teachers in one school have taken to calling me Peeps. I can’t decide whether Soupy, Soup or Peeps is preferable. How to decide?
Perhaps :bong: or :40: would help.
That’s good news for Minnie. Hopefully that’ll just be the end of that, and you’ll all have many more happy and healthy years.
Oh, and I vote for Soupy.
If you ask me the only truly viable candidate – one that will not enflame some faction of our society – is John Edwards. However, my first choice is Bill Richardson.
Dodd would indeed make a good Senate Majority Leader but Chuck Schumer is more outspoken. Russ Feingold is vocal but not always focused.
As to the other side of the aisle, have any of them got a clue as to what they have done to us? We haven’t even identified all the evils Reagan perpetrated. For the last seven years the cartoon in the White House has been waging war on humanity. 382 days and counting…
I almost forgot, happy new year, one and all.
:rofl2: :rofl2:  :rofl2: At least I call YOU “Teach”. Tell your fellow “peeps” :rofl2: to spell “R * E * S * P * E * C * T ”

Sammy Cam in effect! I usually don’t get to watch because I’m working, but my shift ended at 3:30 so I can tune in for a little while before I go home. I had no idea Lauren is so cute.
Hey Sue, if you go with Soupy, then you can tell the kids to go through their parents’ pants pockets and bring you the green pieces of paper with presidents’ pictures on them.
I think I just heard the big FatHead say Edwards was going to win Iowa. Also hearing that a few of the second tier Dems may throw in with Obama in the caucuses. So much for my theories. Maybe they see a chink in the HRC armour. I just feel that once you cross Hillary, you can’t come back.
I saw that Richardson was supposedly turning his people over to Obama on the second ballot, but they’re not obliged to follow what their candidate says. I hope Eddie’s right about Edwards, but I have my doubts. Nobody I pull for ever wins.
Hey, it’s all the way up to 10 degrees now! :hot:
Please, pj. I have to fly to VA soon. Keep it up there. :cold:
Richardson surprises me. I really felt he was positioning for HRC something.
Lincoln Karim, Palemale’s chronicler, is an AP photographer. In that capacity he is in Iowa to photograph the caucuses. Of course, Lincoln took a walk around Des Moines to find the birds. Nice photos, and much more interesting than caucus pics.
Don’t worry Vernon, supposed to be 35 tomorrow, and in the 50’s by next week.
Watching “Mighty Aphrodite,” which I haven’t seen in years. Mira Sorvino just delivered one of the all-time classic lines: “I feel like I owe you a great fuck.”
I think I’ll use that for my work e-mail signature.
Nice bird pics. I wish I could take pictures like that.
Ha! I forgot that Michael Rapaport played an onion farmer from Wampsville. :rofl2:
Yes, Wampsville is just a hop, skip and jump from here.
I dunno, Kevin, maybe you shouldn’t be so picky about thawing your fruit. Just make sure you don’t have a wide stance.
Early reporting:
Edwards 39
Clinton 33
Obama 27
Go johnny go!
:yippee: Edwards :yippee:
Obama winning this one: eek ๐ A!I!V! PLEASE … someone tell me Edwards will win the others … it’s the rethug games ๐

Damn! I wish I knew someone in Iowa! :smack:
Well, I suppose, better Obama than Clinton. ๐
At least it shows that Hillary is not necessarily the default candidate. :nana:
Both SammyCam and AAR cut off right when Edwards was about to speak :fu:
Sorry, Mark Green as “co-host”. wh  cares?
Vernon, I know the words to that song … are you trying to tell me and other Edwards fans that I/we have lost … and there is no hope for Edwards? … :reaper: :dancers: A!I!V!
Huckabee โ ๐ Whatever. I think the whole primary thing may end up as kind of a tie between all the front running rethugs. Do you guys remember when the Dems running for the prez were exceptional and outstanding, all of them and now I read everywhere about the lack luster showing of the Dems. Do you think that’s because of subsequent votes or just liberals’ tendency to circle the wagons and shoot?
:jason: :pup: :tommygun:
On msnbc, everytime Chris the screamer mentioned Obama, he had to mention his father being from Kenya- now cenk is saying that the press wouldn’t carry the racist water for the thugs. As Wes junior sez “What fucking planet are you living on?”! :fu:
The dems in Iowa showed up in huge numbers over last election , quoting Keith- 212,000 vs 140,000 last election.
Mostly young people WANT CHANGE!
Huckabee and Obama take Iowa wins
Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama have won the Iowa caucuses – the first nominating contest of the 2008 US presidential election.
The young people like Obama.
from Romney on Fox news; He thinks baseball games have 50 innings :rofl2: Mitt Romney, who spent $7 million on TV ads in Iowa, is searching for a metaphor to explain away his second-place finish to Mike Huckabee there. From an appearance on Fox News a short while ago:
“I’m looking for the gold or the silver. This is obviously a bit like a baseball game, first inning in a — well, it’s a 50-inning ball game. I’m going to keep on battling all the way and anticipate I’ll get the nomination when it’s all said and done. But, you know, congratulations for the first round to Mike, and we’ll go on to New Hampshire.” fucking moron :tap:
Huckabee is the most dangerous candidate the dems could face- faux populist, true believer that god is talking to him, someone you could have a beer with” :crap: :jerk: :barf:

Seder already blew your ass out of the water tonight with one other guy.
