We were told that this latest winter storm (which the Weather Channel has decided to lamely label “Pax” – I mean, if you’re up to “P”, why not go for Patrick?) would stay well to the east of us, and we’d only get a few inches of snow. Like maybe four, tops (ha – Four Tops). It appears that we were lied to.
While we didn’t get as much as a lot of places, it’s looking like we got something like a foot of snow. It’s hard to tell ‘cuz it’s too dark for me to see, but based on what I can see on the back porch it looks like I’ll have to get out there and plow the driveway so UPS can get in so my wife can get out. What a pain.
OK, just got back in from plowing. There was way more snow than I thought, and while they said it was supposed to stop snowing by sunrise, it appears we were lied to yet again, ‘cuz it’s still snowing out there. Just spent over an hour out there in the cold and wind, and am pretty darn stiff (and not in a good way) and cold. I really need to get a plow truck this summer.
The snow turned to rain and that made the snow very heavy and as the temperature dropped it froze. The man with the plow arrived at 10:30 pm which is an unheard of time on Shelter Island. As there is nothing to do at such an hour except drink, the cops stop anyone out so “late” to check their sobriety. But, there he was with his monster truck, plowing our driveway. So, the driveway got plowed and it rained and then snowed some more. Ugh! Spring where are you?
Perhaps there is hope. Palemale and Octavia have begun to mate.
An old friend, with whom I took a bunch of Latin courses in the 80’s, got in touch with me and we exchanged email addresses. Now I get group emails daily that are rightwing and religious. I hate opening them so most of them go unread. Now my inbox is filled with requests for money from lefties and GOP propaganda. :billcat:
I was with you until the Latin part. :bong:
Are you going to sign them up for some email lists, too? While the snow/ice/rain keeps you inside, you can have such fun with this endeavor!
We’ve been in a deep freeze for weeks. My rain barrel bit the dust, unfortunately. I guess I should have emptied it before the freezing temps arrived. The snow on the deck finally melted. Our temperatures are expected to reach 70 degrees over the weekend. :gate:
 to all of you.
