It’s Friday. I guess I should be excited. Hell, it’s even a three-day weekend. But I’m too damn tired to be excited, and the latest poll numbers for the South Carolina primary don’t look so good (not surprising; nobody I want ever wins). So I’m just gonna try to slide through the day, and then maybe take a nap ’til Tuesday.
Check and mate.
Lieberman told the crowd that Obama had chosen Lieberman as his mentor.
That was at the CT Democrats’ annual dinner, where Obama endorsed Lieberman.
“I am absolutely certain Connecticut is going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the U.S. Senate so he can continue to serve on our behalf,†he said.
[…]
Lieberman became Obama’s mentor when Obama was sworn into the Senate in 2005. They stayed close at Thursday night’s event, too, entering the room together and working the crowd in tandem.

I stand corrected. (Actually, I sit corrected.) The hell with him, then. The last thing we need is another Dem in pig’s clothing.
:fu:
Thank you pj.
Unfortunately, they seem determined to make this a two-person race, and I don’t like either one. 🙁
Worse, I just have this feeling that it’s gonna wind up being President McCain. :omg: Not only will that mean another war-mongering neo-con in office, it will please my father-in-law to no end.
On the bright side, it’s quite possible Bush will blow up the world before Jan 20, 2009.
Has anyone ever been drafted (like maybe, Gore) who wasn’t even running? There’s so much that I don’t like, don’t trust about these three assuming that Edwards might have a chance in Nevada :barf:
How do I get to Progressatopia? Where do I apply for the :paranoid: Visa?
It’s Friday. It’s raining. Good morning. :joe: :joe:
On the presidential campaign trail, former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani often promotes the installation of electronic monitoring devices at the border to stem illegal immigration, without mentioning that until a few months ago, he was partner in a company trying to market such technology.

Watch for the expected “GET OFF MY RADIO !!!!”
Did Bill Press just have someone from Buzzflash saying that Obama was misunderstood about the Reagan quote? that he just could have said he was an agent of change better? 😯
Yeah, I heard that too Art. 🙄
:joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: 😮 😮 :yuck: :crap: :paranoid: 😯 😯

I’m surprised that buzzflash would spin it that way- I’ve watched and listened to that interview more than once and it seems pretty clear what his intention was. Rachel pointed out that he’s compared himself to MLK and JFK also :crap: :tap:
All rethugs are hucksters 👿 hucksters at that .. :reaper: :reaper:

Sounds like us peons may get a nice check from the gubment as part of the stimulous package. I know that $300 we got from the last tax cut sure helped out a bunch. :jerk:
One thing is pretty clear that the blogisphere does not represent a very accurate cross section of the voting IDIOT MORONS it seems to be the only place where one can see inside the hypocrisy of these candidates but the vast majority of the voting public must pull there sample ballot out of their ass just before they vote. or they go eney mini mini mo lets pick this one ..

Help me, somebody!
I am actually listening to Hartmann because Flanders is subbing.
Did I just hear Hartmann doing a Super Bowl Halftime Memories spot for Bridgestone tires? I have to think Petty (Tom, not Richard) may have insisted on $s spent on progtalk radio promo in his Super Bowl deal. Might change my opinion of his music.
Oh, yeah, one more thing from last night. I noted that Stephanie Miller is getting 2/3 of her show hacked from the schedule here in SF for a new local show by the new local PD. Apparently, SM was underperforming.
John Edwards:
The Obama people really hate Edwards.
NO THOMM!!! Had I REMEMBERED I could have gotten some sleep :smack: 🙄 Bad Me :spank: …….
SBlueHeron, “golly g” I will e-mail soon :rofl2: :hubba: :rofl2: A!I!V! :dancers: of :reaper: … Fear The Reaper Mwah HaHa :rofl2:
I had forgotten. Bookend recessions for the worst president in American history. The economy tanked in 2001 when The Great Decider took office. When the idiot leaves office one legacy will be an economy worse off than when he arrived. Along with a broken economy he will leave a broken military, broken judicial and court systems, a disfunctional government, a national debt we will never be able to pay off because we have no world trade partners, no foreign relations and no foreign prospects. What we need is a good old-fashioned six-mile asteroid. That might give us a level playing field.
More the reason for Edwards to hang in. He might be the only thing to keep HRC and BHO a little accountable to some true values for a few more moments. Maybe even parlay an AG role out of it.
Sure wish AAR would give Flanders a good slot like Hartmann’s. She is brainy yet not so boring.
PJ, that’s not fair. Reagan did bring change. None of it good, but it was real change. He broke our society, our government and the environment. You and John Edwards have to admit that those were all changes.
Reagan changed the Republican party. They went from being a partyy of obstructionists to downright destructionists. Their foundations went from arrogance to out and out hatred of everything and everybody regardless of race, creed, color or religion. The one thing that did change on the right is their financial underpinnings. The Republicans always have been and always will be the party of big business and secret government.
Vernon, I mistyped yesterday. Speaking about San Francisco restaurants I listed the “Beach Club.” That was an error. Should have said Beach Chalet. It is in the northwestern corner of Golden Gate Park on The Great Highway just south of the windmill. I like sitting in the window and watching the sun set into the fogbank. They used to give drink coupons away at local beer festivals, and I had a pile of them.
Vermin, ( :rofl2: 4 SouP :rofl2: ) & Sue P, I saw the White House (or whatever) trying to be levitated but what name (or whatever) was used that I didn’t get? … :pirate: A!I!V! My name has a derivative of Mor for Death :rofl2: ri for Ri = King/Queen :rofl2:
I guess the rest could be a “goon” hahaha :rofl2:
Also BTW My Computer Always says No :omg: :dancers: :slap:
Hope to see you again. 8)
Vermin, ( :rofl2: ) I really dislike Laura alot STILL. You should write you like her on AAR Blog, since I raked her thru the coals yesterday. :fist: A!I!V! (But of course I did “typos” :smack: ) :growl:
NCBlue, Beach Chalet I have been doing since 1973. One of the first places I ever went to here. I saw a Tom Waits industry show upstairs in 1976 when it was still a VFW hall.
Probably don’t need to defend Laura since her praises are almost universal.
I really don’t think you are going to get “representative” government unless the public pushes back in away that the politicians will live in fear for the next 50 years of what happened happening again… Unfortunately IDIOT MORONS are sheep..
Baaaa….baaaaa….. baaaaaaa
:reaper: :reaper: :reaper: :reaper: :reaper:
I have this so many times I would have thought it would have sunk in by now Sociopaths only respond when you effect them in a negative way.. take away their “stuff” or them.. then most of the time its a negative sort of response but once they see that their threats and intimidation are not working they will either run for the hills or capitulate .. for a while at least .. That’s why I think one needs a purge not ..compromise … call Orkin out on them :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
If she is so Universal, why doesn’t she have a “real” show. :nana: A!I!V! Now this is FUN banter, but some “folk” here thinks this is arguing. 🙄
I stopped listening to Laura because she always had this “feel good” format.. making things out to be solvable.. Three years later look a round what problem did we have in 2003 that we have solved.???. :tap: :tap:
Almost universally its “did that” and the answer has been “didn’t work” :reaper: :reaper:
Oh my god I’ve made it to the top 25. I hope I haven’t lowered the standards too much.
I work nights, frequently tired and kind of grouchy- but this really makes my day for some reason- small pleasures :cat:
fond shared memories :fire: :fire:
I wanted to tell vernon and Druid I’ve been listening to malloy on green960 and really get a kick out of the Sierra Club reminders on green living and the consumer reports ‘shorts’ mixed in with the commercials 😀
In case you haven’t noticed our SBR Titanic has lost two of its 14 decks to the rising water over the last sixty days. :reaper: :reaper:

fred re:32 isn’t that the whole history of the progressive movement since AAR started? It’s kind of reassuring to listen to all the hosts talk about what we can do if we come together as a group but what’s really changed for the better since the election was stolen in 2000 and what hope is there for fair elections in 2008 :rant1:
Wow, that good feeling went away pretty quickly 😯
She certainly comes from an interesting family. Her sister Stephanie is a BBC TV reporter, her father was British actor/comic Michael Flanders, her grandfather was a radical commie British journalist, and her uncles are Alexander, Andrew, and Patrick Cockburn.
As for her believing problems are solvable, I don’t know. I s’pose everybody could sit around saying “everything sucks, nothing will ever work,” but things would be no less – or more – solved.
I just wish I could say I had an idea that I thought would work. But, I don’t. And I suppose even if I did, I’d actually have to quit talking about it, and get up off my ass and do something.
And that aint gonna happen.
Then again, I suppose there’s the whole “boo-hoo, three whole years, and none of the problems of the last 25 years have been solved.”
It’s more feeling overwhelmed by the compounding by a factor of 100 the fuckedupness of the last 25 years
Yeah, I quit being hopeful a while ago. Now I just want to stay home and see if I can’t run out the clock before the Apocalypse.
My luck, there’ll be an accounting error, and I’ll get raptured up and have to spend eternity with a bucha fuckin’ Kristians.
It’s hard having a 20 yr old in college full of promise and looking forward to his future and keeping a positive outlook. As Maher said once, “I don’t want to be part of the clean-up crew”.
art,
It sounds like there is more of that coming from Green 960 and I applaud them filling their ad gaps with such things. When they first started they would fill unsold time with lame instrumental music or even dead air. I know some listen to their stream and that is why I posted the new schedule yesterday. Malloy is moving again.
Thanks, pj, for the Laura pedigree. I did say almost judging what I have read around about Laura. I guess no one is enough of a bomb chucker for some folks. I will listen to her, Thom not so much.
Oh, yeah, Seder subs for Maddow today. Maybe Sam can replace Rachel if she moves on to GE/MSNBC.
Maybe you’ll run into my dad and stepmother- they’ll be in the “Evangelical Luthern” section- of course they think they’re going to have the whole place to themselves.
pj, out of respect for Kp, I prefer xtians.
Luthern race relations
Are there any new rumors about Rachel going to the TV machine? I’ve just been hoping she’ll move when her contract is up or when she’s done with the aar cruise. She’s probably off today ’cause she was coming down with something yesterday- said she looked green on KO.
I’d love to stop giving aar any more $- it’s just for Rachel right now.
Well, I have my wee shards (ideas) I am working on to make a difference, I just Hope enough Time…for I do really believe in “the blink of an eye” concept (…a person can die) but then again I have a Great Aunt, who died at 104, and Grandfather died when he fell off a 3 story home, then several years later died at 96yrs, and thus the DNA travels all around. A!I!V! :dancers: :fustrate:
I heard a rumor about her shooting a pilot for them. Then again, I heard a rumor that Morgan Fairchild was gonna get a lefty radio show in LA.
:boobs: :dancers: :nana: :fist: A!I!V! :fist:
My personal feeling is that humans are way too impressed with themselves. We think we’re it, but, when you look at it, humans have been around for what, a few hundred thousand to 3 million years (depending on what you consider human)? The dinosaurs were around for about 300 million. We haven’t even been around long enough to see if we’re gonna take, yet we think the universe was built around us.
Silly humans. The universe won’t even notice we’re gone, let alone miss us.
Morgan Fairchild :hubba:
BTW, if anybody cares about such things, a nice Q&A with Etan Thomas, who may actually be back on the court this season after open heart. I like what he has to say about reporters. It certainly transcends sports.
art, you can get Rachel podcasts from Green 960
We’re the flea on the camels ass :crap:
Yeah, say what you want about John Kerry, but he had a thing going on with Morgan. Maybe being wooden isn’t so bad, under certain circumstances.
wooden’ you? :rofl2:
Ah, the Monty Python Galaxy song is now going on in my head.
thanks vernon- I like to think the money I pay is going directly to keeping Rachel in :40:
I wood, I wood. It’s twue.
Now you’ve got me thinking about Angie Dickinson in that shower scene- can’t remember the name 😕 :hot:
Monty Python Galaxy song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2JU4gX6rg8
Would that be in Big Bad Momma?
art, I seriously doubt Rachel sees your money.
Monty Python Galaxy song or lumberjack?
No- it was a kind of horror movie with Michael Caine- she gets offed pretty early in the movie
I do remember Barbara Hershey in “Box Car Bertha” :boobs: :hot:
Oh, Dressed to Kill?
Yeah, that’s it
Now I’ve moved beyond any hope of talent to Adrianne Barbeau :spank:
I need to get out of the house 🙄
Well when someone is not just sitting around.. but sees that everything does suck but also sees the politicians busily sweeping the problems under the rung .. out of site..
Listens to the Reich wing media on all but one of the 6 stations I can listen to railing and lying about the democrats and finding that that is perfectly alright while they praise the Bush admin and support their lies
Finding that trying to take back the local democratic party might get you in the face of a cop .
And finding that very few people are even aware of what is going on around them because they immerse themselves in their 200 channels of :crap: every night..
One might just get pissed off.. :tommygun: :tommygun:
pj- I just looked at the Etan Thomas post. I didn’t have any idea that an active NBA player had had open heart surgery 😮
Nuggets fans are waiting to hear how soon KMart comes back from an ass infection :tap:
Nene’s got a benign testicular tumor :omg:
but last night we completely shut the Jazz down. :fu:
“A.I.” smashed a guy in the face with the ball on the way up
Now I’m thinking about Nancy Dickerson
some of us need to get out of the house more than others
I was responding to 34 thru 41 and to say this space is so special and valid and important … I have hope in some things but much have to be done with so much to be done, especially regarding HR333, HR 1133(s1199 or something like that) and the N.S.P.D.s & H.S.P.Ds, especially NSPD 51 & NSPD20 or whatever+.. but when I sit down here after coming from “the city” streets I can think and laugh and have social banter in a Microcosm to the Macrocosm. Most importantly… it is a living view to a Concept — and To Learn from different views and to practice my responses. teehee. ALL COULD BE GONE IN A BLINK, But It Is Not.
ALL here Makes this Weirdly Wacky World of Wonder, Wonderful and able to Endure this ride. It is made from a Concept: for me the Concept is … *MARC MARON* then to: If not Here, Where?… :fist: A!I!V! 8) 😆 :tap: Goblin King said Laugh!
Then I could scare :omg: Artnorton, since you “guys” are talking :hubba: SEX so watch out “dudes” or … :rofl2: “…it’s going to be a bumpy ride.” :rofl2: :bee: ware :rofl2: A!I!V! :pent: :fist:

Glenn Beck’s disease?
:rofl2:
What’s with you guys this afternoon? Jeebus. Angie Dickinson, Barbara Hershey, Adrienne Barbeau, Nancy Dickerson. Holy crap! It’s Sixties Fantasy Theatre.
But on the other hand, if Morgan Fairchild should happen to read today’s thread, she’ll feel really young. :hubba:
And speaking of :hubba: , Katrina vanden Heuvel is on Snuffelupagus this Sunday. I note that the last few times I’ve seen her on MSNBC, she has foregone the leather jacket. Maybe it’s in storage for the winter.
Too bad we can’t put George :jerk: Will in storage for the winter. And the spring, and the summer, and the fall, and the following winter.
So I’m the only user online? Dare I guess what the rest of you are doing? 😀
:bee:
i’m buzzing around hoping for spring.
is that a flower over there?
ACK!
was talking to Gaia recently.
she say’s that dinosaurs were more fun than mammals.
sigh…
i had to agree.
Re: 43 There are evangelical Lutherans?? They always seemed a mild sort of folk to me. Most of them don’t even go to church regularly.
Granny can tell you all about Lutherans.
Hey, a little help here. If you get bored go here, scroll to the bottom of the page, and over on the right, vote for Syracuse/Georgetown.
I’m not actually sure what it’s for, but what the hell. I’d like to win something this year.
Bill O’ stupid just made an ass out of himself again. Sign the petition, it’s gaining momentum. Maybe we can hear 2 rethugs in one week apologize for being asses.
Lutherns. Their little cartoons were very insidious (see above #44) with their Gumbyness.
I prefer these Gumbies.
We must postpone the voting! No, not in Pakistan. In Nevada.
Hey, if I have to post 13 more times all by myself just to get to 100, I will, damnit!
BTW, have you seen Peter Frampton lately?
Damn I feel old.
Saw him in the Geico commercial and I feel what you feel
Did anyone hear my call on Jeff’s? The next caller said, “What a great call to follow”.
Did you call Jeff?
What show, Druid. I’ll be sure and download the podcast.
One Hundred
Frampton looks healthy at least.
Yeah, that’s where I saw him too, Vernon. Not for the first time tonight, but I did see it again.
Peter Gabriel looks like an old bastid these days, too.
Not me, though. To quote Joe Walsh:
My brain hurts. My fav!
Gumby, dammit!
Yeah, Web, it’s not that he doesn’t look good. It’s just that, this is Peter Frampton in my head:
If I’m to believe he’s aged 35 years, then I have to admit that I have, too. :omg:
I look forward to hearing you on Jeff, Druid!
Not gonna go there with you, pj.
Watching this French subtitled gang drug movie – District B13 – on Showtime. Kinda interesting, and I don’t usually go for this shit.
Well, first time over 100 in a while. Good thing I fucked off at work today and posted to the blog instead.
 :yippee: :omg: :pup:
It’s all gravy now!
Said the joker to the thief.
Nevada caucus if SJ is around
:omg: and yes it was Jeff’s 😳
No reason to get excited
I was listening, Druid, but I was gabbing so I missed it. 😕 I think I kinda heard it.
Re 97: Crap. It sux getting old. I hate seeing everyone get old and have all these young upstarts with their young skin and shining eyes getting all the attention.
I remember when my skin was perfect 🙁
Were you having a Piña Colada at Trader Vic’s?
We had to go to Connecticut today. We took the ferry across the Long Island Sound to New London and traveled north on 395, where we saw FOUR gorgeous eagles circling as they looked for lunch. The first two were several miles apart but the second two were a pair and were flying very near to each other.
I had never seen a wild eagle until last March when I saw one catch a fish in the Hudson River, on the west side of Manhattan. They are an amazing sight.
That’s a beautiful image, Sue. Thanks for sharing.
8) Sue P. … 😆 A!I!V!
heh!
thanks Vernon!
i loves me some evening emmylou!
eagles…
so many of them on the Queen Charlotte Islands/Haida Guaii
i’d clean my fish on the beach and i’d be feeding a half dozen of them.
they’d walk around a few feet away wainting for the goodies.
don’t know if you ever got that close yourself.
the whole family from youngsters to oldsters would hang out.
no fear, they’d walk over and wait for me to hand feed em.
I fell asleep at computer and MISSED MOONLIGHT 🙁 🙁 🙁
and it WASN’T a rerun 🙁 RATS.
