On Press the Meat today, Timmy Potatohead scores a coup as he hosts Huckleberry Huckabee. Then it’s a roundtable with David “Yoda” Broder, Christ’s anchorman, David Brody, NPR’s Gwen Ifill & Republican shill Chuck Todd.
Huck’s on a roll this week, as he travels over to CBS to Faze the Nation with Bobby Schieffer. Then Bob trots out Karl Rove (if he sees his shadow, it’s another six weeks of winter) and Joe “oh for two” Trippi.
Over at Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace gets down on his knees to fellate commander codpiece hisseff, George Dubya Bush. Plus its the usual Fuxholes, who aren’t even worth mentioning.
At Goebbels, George Snufalufagus hosts Governors Tim Kaine (Obama sycophant) of VA, and Martin O’Malley (Clinton lackey) of MD. Then for some reason hot tub Tom DeLay gets face time, along with fellow Republican cretin Tom Davis, both on to talk about whether the fake conservatives will make nice with Johnny McCain. At the “Roundtable,” it’s creepy Byron “the dork” York, political mastermind Donna Brazile, Sam :omg: Donaldson and George :jerk: Will.
CNN’s Late Emission includes Colin “gee, I’m really sorry about all that WMD stuff” Powell, Fancy Nancy Pelosi, and John “can’t get a ” Boehner.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Steve Kroft interviews Barack Obama, Katie Couric gets a crack at Hillary Clinton, and Morley Safer gets the biggest story of the night, as he report on the US Mint’s dilemma on whether to continue minting pennies.
Have a good Sunday.

you want to know what’s really going done?

could’nt of said it better than her.
this election fuss and bother is masking the really nasty stuff going on.
sam has his moments but usually forgets all this stuff is really the imminent danger to any form of sane goverment in North America.
if nothing else you can plan ahead a bit, maybe keep a few peeps out of the grinder.
We’ll all be comin’ up to BC to hide out for a few years.
Good morning from the roof, here. Roadrunner cannot get the code they need to allow me access to the internet on the weekend…so they say. But, I’m doing fine getting a bit of wireless access from a kind if unaware neighbor.
I have not gotten my email, though, and I’m looking forward to a little communication from AAR. Perhaps they’ll respond to my emails of last year, or the year before.
Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy my :joe:
Lincoln Karim has been posting new shots of Palemale etc. Nice shots, of course. The birds have begun mating (apparently once is not enough, they mate often and daily). They’ve also begun refurbishing their nest, so in about a month, I think, they will lay their eggs and spring and baby hawks will be here, no matter what the Rethugs do.
Sue, can’t you go to https://webmail.nyc.rr.com/ to check your mail?
PJ, add this to your Space Shit category on the starboard side:

Mark me down for eta today.
Thanks, PJ, but I can’t get in. Apparently, some genius at Roadrunner decided that we no longer wanted internet access or the telephone. Friday night they managed to return the phone, but the internet tubes have got them flummoxed. I have hope, though dim, that Monday will get it straightened out.
Jubilant screenwriters declared victory Saturday in their 14-week-old strike, hailing the Writers Guild of America’s tentative agreement with Hollywood’s major studios that, if accepted, could return employees to work this week.
In meetings in New York and Los Angeles, rank-and-file writers expressed general support for the studios’ offer as the guild’s leadership urged acceptance of the deal.

I just hope they didn’t delete your account (and all your e-mail). Have you tried sending yourself an e-mail to see if it bounces? You should be able to get into webmail as long as you have Internet access, so if you can’t, that doesn’t sound good.
I have all my e-mail from all my various e-mail accounts forwarded to gmail these days. I think I have more faith in them than in RoadRunner. And it got to be too big a pain to manage my mail server here at home (had an Exchange server running with IMAP and web mail enabled so I could get to it from anywhere).
Good morning. Thanks for that interview, SJ. I’ve heard her on Jeffs’ show too.
I think I’m going to set up a yahoo or optonline email account and see what happens. What is gmail?
New Bacterial Infection Linked to Military
Report: Troops Transmitted Mysterious Bacteria That Has Killed 7 And Affected Military And Civilians Alike Troops arriving home from Iraq and Afghanistan have been carrying a mysterious, deadly bacteria, according to a new magazine report. Doctors have linked the bacterium acinetobacter baumannii to at least seven deaths, as well as to loss of limbs and other severe ailments, according to the report, which found the bacterium has spread quickly since the war in Afghanistan began in the fall of 2001 Acinetobacter baumannii has been found in military hospitals in Germany, the Washington, D.C., area… Methinks there are far more than “7” dead of this lethal bug. I’m surprised ABC reported this story at all — it is not new. But it makes for great public fearmongering — which the media would rather do than actually reporting & investigating what, if anything, is actually being done to deal with this emergent public health problem. :smack:
:omg: Acinetobacter baumannii :omg:
I have seen this bug at the hospital where I work with no special precautions for contact ordered. 😮
Move over MRSA and C-difficile, Acinetobacter baumannii has entered the room! :slap:
:fire:
RG, I read recently that an ingredient in garlic is and effective cure for resistant strains of MRSA.
Gmail is from Google.
Well, I finally got my Edwards t shirt yesterday. :jerk:
Hubby called Time Warner and they got us back on the web. Email can now be accessed through mail2web and Roadrunner webmail, but not directly from my computer. :fustrate:
Gee, that’s pretty lame. They’ve always been pretty responsive when I’ve had to call them (not a whole lot of problems, though). They even sent a tech guy out to my house on a Sunday when he had to install a signal booster. Of course, we’re a pretty tiny area to cover compared to you guys.
My Grammy prediction: Amy Winehouse wins three out of the six she’s nominated for, including Best New Artist. Who knows, maybe next year we’ll even let her into this country to pick them up!
Happy Sunday and congratulations to PJ for his big win this coming Tuesday!
I’m a little behind in watching movies, but just finished “What the Bleep Do You Know.” Boy, was that good.
Oh, yeah, we have that movie. Watched part of it, but Granny wouldn’t let me watch the whole thing.
Looks like our long national nightmare may finally be over.
OK, rebooted computer and now email seems fine….but no email for hubby. Perhaps time Warner will send a techie to us
The weather has been very weird, too. Very strong winds, gusts over 65 mph(I have an anemometer) sudden heavy, furously swirling snow that disappeared in 15 minutes, and the temp fell 3 degrees in 10 minutes. All with the sun shining. Then it all stopped. The winds slowed to under 20 mph and the dark clouds did in the sun.
It’s as if the Rethugs have taken over weather management from the gods.
Oops, I forgot to post the link to Palemale pix:
http://www.palemale.com/
Yeah, I was out at the park with the dog when it turned into a white out. I barely made it home. Lasted for quite a while, but now it’s kinda sunny out. Temperature went from close to 40 to the teens, and it’s supposed to be down to the single digits tonight. Windy as hell, too.
The Grammys. They mean about as much to me as the Louisiana GOP Republican caucuses.
Which really should be cauci.
77 and sunny here 8) Although, early February is a little early to be 77 degrees. 😯
John Edwards having a tough time trying to decide whether to endorse Hillarack Clintama or Barackary Oblinton.
Just saw a California tourism commercial that ended with the Governator and his wife, Skeletor. :yuck:
Steve Earle won a Grammy today. I need to find where the early awards are.
Mark Ronson :40: Producer of the year
Obama won a Grammy!
I won’t be a spoiler but if you want to cheat, Grammys so far.
We’re all having a tough time choosing between Obama and Clinton. In my mind they’re pretty even in the scales except for electability.
Obama wins Maine
I spent a lot of time looking at their positions and their voting records, and I found them to be pretty much identical. Clinton has a bit more liberal voting record, but that’s about it. As it stands at the moment, I think Obama is more likely to get elected. I think Clinton is likely to wheel and deal if elected, and do things I don’t like in order to get legislation passed that isn’t perfect. Obama, I’m not so sure. I really hope he doesn’t give away the farm. Maybe he’s just laying low, trying not to be the scary black guy, and when he gets in he’ll turn out to be a very strong progressive leader.
It’s just I don’t see anything in his history that would lead me to believe it.
I think if Clinton winds up somehow getting the nomination at this point, the Obama true believers will consider it to have been stolen, and won’t support her candidacy. That, combined with the rightwing hatred for all things Clinton (and the leftwing hatred for all things Clinton) will make it very very difficult (if not impossible) for her to get elected, and it will hurt Democrats downstream by suppressing the turnout for Democrats while bringing out the wingnut Clinton haters on the other side.
That said, it’s very close, and somebody’s going to have to broker some sort of deal, or the convention will be mighty nasty – and mighty interesting.
That’s about it as I see it, pj, except for Obama just winning a Grammy and look who he beat

I know, the talking heads are drooling!
Eh, I’ll take a Nobel Peace Prize over a Grammy any day.
Not that I have prayer of earning either one, of course. Although, with my singing voice, I reckon the Nobel is just a shade more likely.
There is one aspect that I just thought about. Even though Hill-Billy may be better equipped to slug it out with the repugs, this seems to be a year that the public is particularly turned off by the negative.
At least Obama is not so known for that MO and will also be a more sympathetic figure when the repugs go nasty. He also has shown evidence that he can be tough in the face of the attacks.
May Pang shares her photos and memories of John Lennon.
Well, I think Obama (or at least his supporters) tends to whine when somebody gets ‘tough.’ I find that kind of annoying, but it should make it very difficult to slime him. They won’t know how to attack him, except to call him a Muslim or something. Then the cries of racism will arise, and that ought to shut everybody up, lest they by Imused.
Clinton, however, they have plenty of experience at sliming, and it’s become quite acceptable (though this whole pimping Chelsea out thing may turn out to be very good at putting a stop to that; we’ll see).
Bottom line is, it’s acceptable to slime the Clintons in most circles on all sides. Sliming Obama is just more apt to rally support behind him.
Should leave the Republicans in a quandary. And the contrast behind the pasty-faced half dead old white guy versus the youthful Obama should work out pretty well, too.
I think the Clintonista have been showing a lot of whinyness and worse on call ins and blogs as well.
Thanks, pj. I really like May Pang. I passed it on to my Beatle buds who will just say duh.
Yeah, frankly, I’ve come to the conclusion that I really don’t like many of the people who comment and/or write diaries for the “big” blogs out there. One of the few things I feel I’ve learned during this primary season.
Fact is, there are more quality ‘comments’ here than there are quality ‘posts’ over at some of these other places. Especially Atrios, I think. His ‘posts’ tend to consist of “heh, indeed” with a link to something somebody else wrote.
I greatly prefer the people here.
I don’t even look at the Heathers unless someone refs a link. My idea of the big time is B@B and the Seder site where I usually patrol for the show info.
Speaking of B@B, apparently there was some dust up over there but I am not sure what it was. May have even been Atrios related.
Watching Obamillary interviews on 60 minutes, I watched substantive questions being asked of ‘bama by Steve Kroft- I found out whether Hill takes vitamins and what her nickname was in high-school by Couric. Katy Kuteick is such a tool. :barf:
I saw that Jill had to lock down comments, though I don’t know what the fuss was all about.
Yeah, too bad the first solo female network anchor had to be such a twit. Never could stand her on “Today,” and couldn’t understand why CBS would want her for the network news.
Atrios would make a fresh post out of this, but, meanwhile, over there…
Jim Zorn is 54? Oy, I feel older every day.
I wish Hillary had asked cour’ick’ if she ever imagined being such a huuugge failure on cbs.
Different topic- great to see Morris Day on grammies. Prince must own his soul since I haven’t seen him since “Purple Rain” came out. 😯
“My heart pumps purple piss for you.” Damn, I’m gonna miss ‘The Wire’ when it’s gone.
I just started watching it this year. Kind of confusing to start out. Someone told me I’ve gotta watch all the old ones- life’s too short. I’m still watching old episodes of “Homicide”- best broadcast series ever- “Wire kinda seems like homicide (still in
Baltimore) except you can say “Fuck”. (okay, only the first two years of Homicide with Alec Baldwin)
Just watching the enema’s for Amy :tap:
Hah, well, Munch’s second partner – Meldrick – is in The Wire this season, as a newspaper man.
I love Meldrick. Munch was always great. Belzer is still the most outspoken guest on Maher’s show
I love Munch, too. And Meldrick. And the “Big Guy.” Actually, everybody on Homicide, and The Wire.
Will Edwards be the king-maker? Buzzflash points out he’s got 26 delegates to give away. Obama’s meeting with him tuesday. Of course, the big dog has probably already put in a call.
Is Amy going to performing live @ 2 or 3:am in London 😮
Tina looked pretty hot for 70 :hubba:
had hopes for couric, but her interview was dreadful. Insulting of a Presidential candiate…. “I mean, how DO you DO it, stamina wise…do you take vitamins?” oh man…
Why didn’t she want you down the Rabbit Hole???
that maybe didn’t sound so right…. :hubba:
Grannie wouldn’t let pj watch hillary or Tina? 😮
Mr. Bean as Dr. Who
#19 Kevin, wrong-o! and I think you have to give her one for the Mark Ronson as well.
