Druid- here’s the 60 minutes piece
http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/60minutes/main3415.shtml
I first heard about this story on Malloy. CBS left out a lot of detail-like how they stole the second election. How they had to bring in a bushco appointed judge from outside the state to hear the case after the first judge threw it out- how the feds keep moving him around the country so that his lawyers can’t talk to him. It goes on and on and on ๐ฟ
here’s some more, second story down.

Apparently, at least one CBS affiliate in Alabama had some “technical difficulties” that resulted in the segment not being aired.

Apparently the geniuses in alabama haven’t heard about the internets where some of the more evolved can see the news coming through the tubes :tap:

I guess one has to go to Alabama to appreciate what is meant by some place being two major cities with Alabama in between…..Is must be like eastern Colorado except that the double wides are on smaller lots. which means less room for the junk cars :reaper: :reaper:
Yuck! Monday! :joe: :joe: :joe: This morning a congressman is coming to see the program I teach. Yesterday, he told my boss he was bringing a reporter. I know his assistant is coming and at least one of my bosses. That means lots of adults who think that they can stand around and talk to each other. As classrooms are designed so that sound carries easily (lots of wood and other hard surfaces) they become very distracting. :fustrate:
AAAWWW .. the infamous dog and pony show.. I always hate it when I am either the dog or the pony though :reaper: :reaper:
although
We usually get donuts and fruit as a reward for the performance.. :yippee: :yippee:
Druid, CBS did lave out some really important facts about the Seigelman travesty, but I thought they did a pretty decent job, all told. At leas they put the story on network TV.
Also
One seldom gets any work done while performing in a dog and pony show :tap: :tap:
I like the doughnuts idea, thanksFred.
Well Sue let us know when it airs or if there is some place on line where one can view it .. ๐ฎ ๐ฏ
One of your students will undoubtably capture it on their phone/camera thingie and post it on youtube ๐ฎ

Marijuana May Stimulate New Brain Cell Growth

Hopefully all the brain cells I’ve killed with alcohol have been balanced by the new ones I’ve grown with, um…with being subjected to secondhand smoke.
Grow NEW and BETTER brain cells! :bong:
Or at least find the loss of your existing brain cells really freakin’ funny!
Dude, got any pot?
I did graduate work in Alabama. One of my classmates told me I could never get married because I didn’t have a sister.
Another classmate said she was sending her children to a private church school so they wouldn’t be taught liberal ideals. “Like thinking for themselves?” I asked. “Exactly!” she said.
I am still wanted in Alabama because I sent my student loan payments to the lender, not the University of Alabama. It was bad enough they gave me the money from only one of three loans I was granted. The lady in the financial aid office filed my folder without dispensing the money because I wasn’t from Alabama. Twice!
Got no pot. But I do have cookies and Kona.
Thinking about retiring back in Santa Cruz so I can grow my own, though. Wonderful memories there. Vasilia’s restaurant, pumpkin patches by the sea, waking to sea lions and marsh foxes, migrating whales just off shore, fallen Arches State Park (aka Natural Bridges), the Boardwalk, Sea Bright brewery, wineries just up the road, redwoods, no chain stores, stratospheric rents, driving to Saratoga or San Jose for a new bookstore, highway 9 and 30,000 vehicles a day…
Maybe I should rethink that.
:bong: :pirate: :yippee: :joe: :bong: A!I!V! If I can remember to make a copy of article :rofl2:
Can’t believe Cokie yesterday and this AM repeating the same saw :jason: about how Obama will be in trouble in the general because the independents and youth are not reliable to turn out in November and his white male support will ultimately go repugly. Also his trade statements and war stance will hurt him, not to mention her other spew. I guess he can’t afford to lose all of those war supporters if he expects to win. I used to like her in the 80s on NPR but now not at all.
Time for Cokie to go bye bye and hopefully not back to NOLa in case I end up there.
Now that it is light I will be taking the laptop in for rehab (computer sez no, no, no!) to see if the beast can be saved. First it needs to be backed up to be messed up and then re-install the XP, hopefully not wiping out everything.
I guess it is off to appleland for me for a while. :omg:
Best bet is usually to back up whatever data files you have, make a list of all the apps you have installed that you actually need, make sure you have the installation media for them (or the downloaded install programs, as the case may be), and then format the hard drive and start over again.
It’s also not a bad idea to partition the drive into one partition basically just for the operating system and application installation, and a second partition for your data files. That way, if you hose the OS, you don’t have to worry about screwing up your data.
Then, when you’re all back together again, image the drive (DriveImage XML is pretty easy to use and free, plus you can put it on a BartsPE CD, and restore even when the OS isn’t feeling well).
Creating a partition to back up to on the same disk is not a good idea.. If the problems you are having is disk related then it may well effect both partitions. One should really buy an external hard drive and back up to that volume.. :tap: :tap:
You can also just plug the external drive into another computer and restore from there if worst comes to worst. Remember you have to be able to boot the hard disk partition wit the OS on it to make anything happen to begin with.
Well, Congressman Weiner showed up with 2 assistants, my boss, immediate supervisor and our executive director, the principal and assistant principal and two upper grade kids with cameras. They showed up 15 minutes late, calling to ask us to put off the start for 15 minutes. This doesn’t sound too onerous, except the kids had to go to lunch the very next period and that cannot be rearranged.
But, hopefully, they were all duly impressed with the kiddies who did a great job. And, more important, they will not come back again.
And, Fred, no doughnuts!
Teachers always seen to get the short end of the straw don’t they . :reaper: :reaper: .
Well, here’s my confession: I tried to watch the Oscars but, like football, it made me start looking for something to read. So, I gave up. But, here’s some funny political banter from Jon Stewart, that you can watch without having to listen to a winner’s acceptance speech, that, by law, begins, “I want to thank my producer.”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/25/jon-stewart-mocks-john-mc_n_88273.html
But, Fred, nobody said to use a separate partition to back up. Rather, I said that it is a good idea to keep your data on a separate partition from the OS. Obviously, It doesn’t help you if you have hard drive problems (which is why I also advised imaging the machine when you’re done), but is very useful if you hose the OS, get deluged with spyware, or any of a number of issues that can occur where it becomes advisable – or just a hell of a lot easier – to wipe reformat and reload.
Oh, and no, you don’t have to boot the partition with the OS on it. You can boot to an external drive, a Knoppix CD, or a Barts PE CD, or other device.
Tea :joe: :pirate: :yippee:
Thanks, guys.
It will take a while. I borrowed a ext HD since I have 3 that are full and was just going to back up and re-install but the HD said no, no, no. I have to re-format the HD 1st to NTFS. Files too big for FAT32 (I guess she’s not too fat). If I figure it out I will probably partition when I format the c drive if it takes me there. Sounds a little Middle Eastern.
I should have probably just taken my share of the American Dream (more credit card debt) and picked up a new LT or a new HD but I don’t want to be seen as a terra-ist..
Yeah, a new laptop is always nice. For me, I might have to buy a new igniter for my pellet stove. If I’m lucky, it’s just a fuse. Fortunately, I can use firestarter gel to light it manually, but then I can’t run it off the t-stat. I’ll have to play tonight, and see what I can see. It’s always something.
It would seem that our patriotic duty is to send some second hand smoke to those red staters, in the hope that the new brain cells are better than the present ones.
Even if it didn’t work, it would be fun to see Condileeeeeeeeza with the munchies. Perhaps Bush would eat more pretzels. Rumsfeld might seem to be making sense, unknown, known, known unknown, etc. And, they might all finally get the “make love not war,” stuff.
Oh, I can just see Condi with a
frenchfreedom fry or a chicken wing stuck in that gap in her teeth, with bleeding red eyes and hot sauce dribbling down her chin.Hey everyone ! Sam Seder in for Randi! :yippee:
Oh, I wondered why he showed up in my IM list.
Thanks Krista I just found out, and I normally don’t listen to Randi.
Me either. I’ll have to remember to download her show in the morning.
It’s gmail chat, right? I keep inviting him and he doesn’t respond.
Oh, just listening to Sammy from yesterday. He’s in for Randi all week long.
He’s in AIM, but you can get that from inside Gmail, if you have an AIM account.
AOL IM, no chat that I know of. Cam is on.
You can add your AOL IM account to Gmail chat, and IM your AIM contacts along with your Gmail contacts.
