Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit!
Today really ought to be a holiday. Or at least tomorrow. Aside from the big holiday, it’s also an exciting day because DirecTV 11 will be launched from the Sea Launch Platform somewhere on the equator. Hopefully it’ll be a successful launch, with the result being more HD channels in short order. For anybody who enjoys watching rockets blasting off into space, you can watch a live webcast of the launch here, starting at 3:30 PM Pacific Time (6:30 Eastern), with the launch scheduled for 3:49 PM PDT. Those of us with DirecTV get to watch the launch on channel 573.
I just hope the damn thing doesn’t blow up.
What If the Beatles Were Irish?

*In Unity There Is Strength*
Ni Neart Go ……..Book Of Kells
Everyone, fasten your seatbelts. We are in for a bumpy ride in the financial markets this week.
Saw the words “next great depression” in the Eurpoean press over the weekend. In the past seven years I have read and heard from many sources that the current administration’s economic policy built on the Reaganomics de-regulation foundation was slipping beyond anyone’s control. Looks like that may indeed become truth evident to even the most rabid righty.
Then I had a revelation, an epiphany of sorts. Remembering some of the things said by both Busch and Cheney about oil prices and energy conservation, combined with their ties past and present to the oil industry I realized that our current economic situation with a plummeting dollar, tax breaks for the largest oil companies and the huge record profits announced monthly has been engineered. Our President and Vice-President have sacrificed the United States’ and maybe the world’s economic stability for their own sakes.
This is corruption on a scale never before seen in human history. Imagine jobing an entire planet and getting away with it. Talk about crimes against humanity! Looked at in single bits the whole economic situation looks like bad timing. Taken as a whole this is not a series of coincidental events.
Start with Reagan’s deregulation of everything in sight. The aim was to remove all safeguards and controls to the rich getting richer by doing something like this. Add a Republican Congress that refused to exercise any oversight on this administration. The leaders on the hill who were in charge then have all left Congress in one manner or another, three of them resigning seemingly on their own. Bush’s comment on $2 gas of “Get used to it” is a fitting statement from an oil dealer lining his own pockets. The fiscal management of the dollar was planned, publicly to make US foreign trade more attractive overseas.
With oil traded in dollars the price rises based on the value of the currency, not on supply or lack of such. Until recently the American people have not been told that, but some middle east leaders let the cat out of the bag. (Our media seems to need a little nudging now and then.) And now with interest rates falling as fast as the dollar the administration has brewed up a perfect economic storm. No one seemed to think all those trillions in bad unregulated home loans would hurt anyone. Now look what is happening to our oil-based economy?
The Republicans have lead us over the edge and into the economic abyss.
NC Blue- Great (but Depression (ing) post.
Will anyone in the media or our spineless congress connect the dots for our infantilized, zombie, disconnected american public?
Naw, I didn’t think so. .
Akron made the NIT! Not that I’m holding my breath as to how they’ll do, since they play Florida State and then Massachusetts if somehow they beat FSU. But better than sitting at home this week, I guess.
I notice that a certain upstate NY school made it in too.
Of course, Lennon wrote “Sunday, Bloody Sunday,” and McCartney had “Give Ireland Back to the Irish,” so I think we can make them honorary Irish (McCartney is a Mick-Cartney, after all.
Art Norton, it is up to us. We must write letters and emails to all of our Senators and Congressmen. We must write our newspapers. We must post and blog everywhere. It is up to the people to hold responsible those people who have committed these crimes. Their greed is destroying us all. I fear our economic collapse is already happening. And like global warming, by the time the signs are obvious to everyone it is already too late to stop it. But we can have justice and a slight modicum of accountability but only if enough of us demand it.
:joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe:
😮 😮 :sheep: le already 😯 😯
NC Blue, believe it or not, I get life put back in me and thus gives strength when I hear someone like you. In the 80’s that was our last TO SAVE, then — that is what THE SCIENTISTS were saying AGAIN then.. So you can Imagine how I Feel. I am part Irish/Celtic and haven’t said Die Yet as I am “haunted” by the sorrows of GLOBAL WARMING. What many Sang about in the 60’s & 70’s is now here as predicted. I am finishing on a seasonal “thing” and others “thingsâ€; therefore, I cannot type except one-liners here.
Now TECHNOLOGY & ECO-BEHAVIOUR is the Only Key for the :sheep: masses — but no one is moving…Worldly, it is easier to tell Gore why it can’t be done and locally to tell me that I am DECADES wrong, although all is proving that We Few have been consistently correct. That is why after doing ALL I could and many around me were getting “put away” thus SILENCED, I became a Misanthrope in the Mountains — Mad Woman in Mad River (CA, seriously, that’s where I/we landed after going all the way to Canada and I was called) — if you will.
Thank You FOR SHARING Your Angst .
E-Mails and What I also do is PICTURE POSTCARDS. Simple Definite and dealing with ONE MAIN Issue — PLUS many will read MAILED POSTCARDS…… plus some other ACTIONS, including writing and …and…and…
Again, Thank You for Your Angst. :fist: Yea, Keep Posting & Plotting! 8) … ARREST ❗ IMPEACH ❗ VIGILANCE ❗ I had “edited” and instead just saved to send again  🙄
NC Blue, I have no idea why this Adm is not OUT & ARRESTED?
:fist: A!I!V!
We sign petitions, write, & whatever. “They” keep us so busy & tired from WORKING & caring for Family — there is not enough time 24/7 to barely breathe, but WE MUST, then “Keep On, Keeping On!”.. :fist: A!I!
Oh BTW NC Blue, Fred is Great for keeping The Blood inflamed
:tommygun: :pirate: A!I!V! His “elan” keeps my FIRES Flaming
:tommygun:
Yes Druid we do write and call and .. and.. and.. but we represent a very small percentage of the constituents of these IDIOT MORONS we elect to office .. or.. at least that’s what “they” say.,, When you try and call them and get “all lines are busy try again later message” that indicates to me that “they” really have no desire to listen to the voter just to the lobbiest’s $$$$ and since under our sort of maybe rigged system of elections you are unlikely to elect enough candidates at any one time who want to change the system it just stays the way it is .
Until
That EMP pulse splatters them all over the insudes of their offices just before the pressure wave blows them and all the rest of us off the planet. :reaper: :reaper:
They say that doing the same thing over and over again expecting one desired result but always getting a different one is an act of insanity.
The IDIOT MORONS all over the radio dial say the way we have been trying is the only way. It is if all they desire is job security. Mean while things just get worse and worse and worse.. :reaper: :reaper:
You can easily see why fanciest states have typically only ended following a war which they LOST … it takes bright flashes and loud noises to wake up the frogs slumbering in the ever hotter water. :reaper: :reaper:
I still think that the “they” are intentionally sinking the SBR Titanic .,because they see no real future here ..With the rise of 3 billion odd consumers in India and China we are but a drop in the bucket They have just about milked all they can out of the middle class and intend to leave the SBR Titanic much like they left the rust belt, the mining claims in the west, the coal mines in the east and the textile industry in the south… They will just walk away and leave the mess they created for someone else to clean up..if they can clean it up .. perhaps before the oceans flood their back yards this time around… :reaper: :reaper:
.Time is running out and I am afraid that watching college basketball is not going to do much about it.
Oh goody, Hank Paulson just assured everyone that the feds are going to be there to “see that the markets function efficiently.”
I believe an efficiently functioning market is one in which the least number of people have the most amount of money. I.e, we get screwed, don’t worry about Bushco.
Very depressioning, indeed!
Palemales’s mate, Lola, was not interested in the stock market. Her more pressing problem was an aerial battle with another hawk who invaded her air space.
The Chinook salmon that swim upstream to spawn in the fall, the most robust run in the Sacramento River, have disappeared. The almost complete collapse of the richest and most dependable source of Chinook salmon south of Alaska left gloomy fisheries experts struggling for reliable explanations — and coming up dry.
Whatever the cause, there was widespread agreement among those attending a five-day meeting of the Pacific Fisheries Management Council here last week that the regional $150 million fishery, which usually opens for the four-month season on May 1, is almost certain to remain closed this year from northern Oregon to the Mexican border. A final decision on salmon fishing in the area is expected next month.

The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state’s new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs.
In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.
In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with “a woman other than my wife,” beginning in 1999.
