Yet another ridiculously short weekend is behind us. Here, as you might have guessed, it was basically wintry. Saturday was very cold, but Sunday wasn’t too bad – cold start, but sunny and actually above freezing. That’s about as good as it seems to get. Sorry to the folks in town for the NCAAs for the chilly weather. I guess there were quite a few “Syracuse sucks” tweets and whatnot. Less about the weather and more about how they just plain hate us (though Magic Johnson seemed to enjoy himself). Sorry, I guess. Wasn’t my idea to have all you fuckers here. In fact, if it was up to me, I’d have to the NCAA to go Cheney themselves and have their little tournament someplace else. Like Munnsville.
Sorry we can live up to such stellar venues as Jacksonville, Dayton, Columbus, and Omaha. Or of course the place for next weekend’s big show, Indianapolis, where they respect your right to discriminate – as long as you’re doing it for religious reasons. So if I’m an atheist, does that mean I don’t have the right to discriminate against anybody? I saw somebody on what passes for the news this morning saying it aint about the gays. He runs a t-shirt or sign shop or something, and was saying he shouldn’t have to print something that says “Satan is Great” ‘cuz it goes against his religion.
I’d have asked him if he’d have a problem printing “Allahu Akbar” on something, and if so what the “religious” objection would be.
Actually, I probably wouldn’t have asked him anything, because the handful of times I’ve been to Indiana is was only because I was on my way to somewhere else. And Notre Dame is in Indiana, so fuck them (though the KOA outside South Bend is pretty nice and so is the guy that runs it – at least, 15 years ago they were).
Well, back to work I guess.
KO!
S’cuse reference, btw.
Yeah, well, the NCAA isn’t gonna move the Final Four in a week. Or probably ever. It would be nice if they did, but all they care about is money.
And NFL should move the Colts. I hear Toronto is looking for a franchise. And move the Pacers. Buffalo could use another NBA francise.
It’s not snowing and it’s 40 degrees according to my thermometer. I am not complaining at the moment. I would like to have some spring weather some day but 40 and no snow is better than it’s been. Of course it was below freezing last night but I didn’t have to be out so it’s OK.
They’re saying it will be 63 here tomorrow. I have no idea when the last time it got to 60 around here was, but it’s certainly been a while.
Hey, Sue, you can come out of retirement. Governor Snotball says the new State budget is the “most pro-teacher ever!”
Seeing all the homicide stories in your paper, pj, you’d think you were here.
Glad it’s warming up for all you, finally. Other than large hail and a twister here and there, we’ve had glorious weather lately.
Yeah, well, when Rudy kicked the bad people out of NYC, they all came up here.
Into the 60s today, upper 50s tomorrow, and then cold and snow for Friday night and the weekend. Just as well – Worcester MA is four tenths of an inch ahead of us for the Golden Snow Globe. Plus I have a lot of work to do if it gets warm out.

John Oliver cannot believe his eyes: Adorable 4th graders’ school project gets brutally shot down by lawmakers
Marc posted a 10 minute interview with Mick Jaggar yesterday. He really made the most of it and found Mick to be warm and congenial.
He (Marc) was a little verklempt and in disbelief when it was over.
That’s pretty cool. I’ll be interested to hear it when it comes around on the ol’ Pocketcasts rotation.
First time I saw this I was not sure it was Jagger. When I was re-watching this earlier, it froze when Marc asked about Mick Taylor. I sure hope he does have Keef on as well.
Thanks for the heads-up art and the link, vern!
You may have gotten those “bad” NYers when Rudy kicked them out, But Rudi and Judi are still in the city.
Of course. Y’all would never have survived Nine One One without them.
It has come to my attention that today is Good Friday, which leads me to the inescapable conclusion that Sunday is Easter (see? 6 years of Religious Ed wasn’t entirely wasted on me after all).
So happy Death Cult day to those of you who are into that sorta thing, and here’s wishing you all a happy Zombie Day on Sunday.
If just for the red tail reference.
Cowboy Junkies.
Yup, it’s Good Friday and Passover, too. Out waitress was busy starting a war on Easter by wishing all the customers Happy Holidays. I hope no one tells O’Reilly. He’ll insist every business display the crucifixion.
He only need come south to find Easter alive and well. I’m told the folks on our old road in Georgia are still “hanging” themselves on the crosses with blood and all the accoutrements. Crazy bastids.

We took our dogs to a giant dog park last weekend. We’ve been dealing with sick dogs ever since. We broke down and bought a carpet cleaner for our area rugs. (Mr. FK makes a fine Rug Doctor!) I’m so tired of cleaning up after dogs. We will NEVER EVER EVER visit a dog park again. Only hope these critters return to normal soon. I was told by my dog trainer (I take the puppy to school) that the canine influenza this year is extremely virulent and dangerous. She said it hasn’t been this bad for about 4 years and she recommends the dogs be innoculated if they get out and about. Chicago, I see, is already having trouble and am told it is headed this way. Our pups, thankfully, do not have the respiratory issue at this point and that seems to be what is killing the doggies. We typically never go to dog parks and now this one time… go figure.
P.S. Four dogs is too many.
For you mad hatters…
