Ah, another weekend shot (especially if you’ve been hunting with Dick Cheney), and no Marc Maron show to look forward to tonight, I guess. I wonder if the folks at AAR will be able to get to work today, or we’ll just get some “best-of” shows until they can dig everything out. I hope Bloomberg doesn’t call FEMA, or we may never see NYC again.
Today’s a day off for me, not for snow (because we didn’t get any), but because my trip to the Cisco “NOW” van (Network on Wheels) counted for my class tonight. So, it’s just me and the dog, hanging out, trying not to step in any cat puke (it’s been a very pukey year at my house, cat-wise). I don’t mind them puking, but all that retching and gagging…. God, just puke and get it over with. Dogs are much better in that respect. Plus, they clean it all back up afterwards.
Well, time for breakfast.

It’s me, Marc. Now you probably think I’m e-mailing too much. I’m just trying to keep you informed with what is going on with the new show.
First, thanks to all of the people that came out to the Punchline in San Francisco. We had a good time. From where I was standing it was a good mix of new and old material with some real audience weirdness and improvisational noodling.
Second, The Marc Maron Show is in limbo now. The launch dates is not locked in. The communications with Air America and the affiliate out here was not solid and the time and date of the show was not locked in. I was misled about this stuff. We are continuing on with test shows and production. I am anxious and ready but I’m not pissed. I am under contract and being paid to work and we are working. We’ll just have to wait. From what I hear there has been no info on the AAR site about the show. I have no control or power over what goes on or comes out of headquarters. Thanks for your patience and support. I won’t go on about the show anymore until there is a definite schedule.
Also, thanks to you, the new CD is the top selling CD out of my garage.

I think if everyone wants to write to the powers that be at AAR and let them know we aren’t going to forget about the TMMS, it couldn’t hurt. I wouldn’t start out by being belligerent (in other words, try not to listen to an Ann Coulter audiobook before you compose your message; actually, don’t listen to that crap at all – it can’t be good for you), but just perhaps say that you’re eagerly awaiting the show so that you can sign up for the premium subscription, which you won’t do without at least a two-hour TMMS. I would hate for them to get so many nasty calls and e-mails that they just say “the hell with Maron and his crazy-ass disciples.” As BAB writes, Jon Sinton seems to have replied back to some folks (not me, ever; nobody ever writes back to me, except for Mark Riley – thanks Mark), so he’s probably a good person to try.

I used to get the audio NYTimes every day and a book a month, but they have all sorts of deals and I think that in some of the deals they give you an ipod or some nice lil player…I really like their service and the books are mostly 9.99 if you just buy them straight from there withut joining a plan.
Thats what I did with my drive around time every day before AAR started…now Im getting to the point of going back because its really just Rachel, a little tiny bit of Al, and Jeaneane sometimes….I have to see if I can find that Penn Jillette show today and save it.

He signed it and left his phone # which I didn’t think was a good idea. So, I called him up. His name is John Bomar, he’s a decorated, and disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. He likes to write but has a hard time getting papers to publish his work. a while back, i read something about mini torii gates being set up to stop people from dumping old TVs, bikes etc. along roadsides. they tried posting signs using variations on “please don’t dump your trash here” but people just ignored the signs. it wasn’t until someone got the idea to set up mini torii gates that people finally stopped dumping.

By the way, I’m a big Old Time Radio fan, and I used to lay in bed and listen the the CBS Radio Mystery Theatre every night starting when I was about 13 until it was off the air. Our local NPR station (WRVO) plays OTR 7 nights a week, from 8 – midnight. I love the Inner Sanctum, too.

A fan sent me some old inner sanctums that had been saved on wax records by Lipton …and those shows were great…really strange stories with that heavy organ music and fantastic scripts. There is an incredible fan base for this stuff, but the format doesnt lend itself to todays radio.
About 10 years ago, right before I met my husband, I went on a blind date with someone who worked for the IRS. I was pretty nervous b/c it was my first date after a pretty devastating breakup some months earlier. It’s too bad, really. I think if people would listen, they might never turn their teevees back on. I mean, Gunsmoke with William Conrad and Parely Baer was sooo much better than the TV version. What TV show can compare to Agnes Moorhead in “Sorry, Wrong Number.” And Jack Benny is still funny, 70 years later.
I turned my wife and stepson on to this stuff, and they love it, too. I guess that’s why we got such a kick out of the Morning Sedition Radio Theater.

Hi Jon-
You have so graciously answered my mail before and I decided not to get my
hopes up about anything coming out of AAR, not to bug you, and to just wait
and see what happens.
Well, apparently there is no word on Maron’s new show even though we have
heard it promoted on-air and the guys at Riley’s show have said that it was
starting today.
I don’t know how the management is set up at AAR, but things seem pretty
crazy in that the website hardly gets updated and no one seems to have any
real information. Big chances are missed every time Maron is out performing
and appearing on shows and he cant say when his show will be on, and even
the format or time. Even disappointing information or unclear information
shows some respect for the fans, and as it is we have weathered being
treated by AAR management like we are a problem rather than a gift.
This seems very unusual, and maybe has come about because Marc has a strong
fan base, so we get more information than people would usually. We seek out
every detail. Maybe there is always a lot of bull going on behind the scenes
right up until a show is put on the air, but this seems a little unusual at
this late date and I have to say that this whole thing has me and a lot of
other die-hard fans feeling really screwed and unhappy.
There have been thousands of hits and return hits on the morningseditonists
site/blog and they are from all over the world. I was very surprised at the
numbers because there are always more lurkers than posters and I thought it
was just a nice little group. It turns out that it is huge. Who would not want to
capitalize on that? Why are there not some sort of updates for this
audience? It is as if we don’t matter. Who makes these management decisions
and are they in such a bubble that they don’t try to stay in contact with
the pulse of the listeners. Don’t you need listeners to be a viable radio
business?
I know that the bottom line is a big issue, but I have never heard of
successful business that ignores its audience. I also have never heard of a
successful show-biz venture that treats its artists like this. Maybe in the
music business talent is disposable, but I don’t hear a lot of great radio
work anymore…when it comes along, shouldn’t it be cared for and developed?
There is also the issue of the treatment of the fans. The only people
interested in Podcasting the archives are the die-hard fans who also spread
the word about the shows and the network and bring in listeners, make
WebPages, wear shirts, put on bumper stickers, and show up at live events.
Unless a Podcasting venture offers something really special like video feeds
all the time and special events beyond an outing with Sam Seder from time to
time, pay-Podcasting is a slap in the face to the real fans. It also cant
possibly be a moneymaker bigger than the free promotion the station gets by
the word of mouth from these fans. Isn’t that worth a lot? Considering that
I personally have brought in hundreds of listeners, I cant imagine that if I
miss Rachel’s show I have to pay for it! I can guarantee that I am unusual
if I don’t want to miss one of a certain show that I will go after it…and at this point there are
few who feel that way, and, I wont be subscribing.
I can podcast whole shows from major TV networks and HBO for free! This is
not iTunes and the material is not music that you listen to again and again!
This is nickel and diming the fan base who would be out there promoting the
show. Its like making people pay for bumper stickers that promote AAR..oh
yes…they did that too! This is being set up so that there is no chance for
word of mouth, and unless you are doing something different like having a
groundbreaking comedy morning show that competes with Howard Stern, how can
you sell it? The only other point that I have about this is that there is a
population of AAR fans who cant get a reliable stream or who don’t have a
station in their towns and aren’t near the computer enough to stream. These
are people who are lobbying their local radio to put the shows on the
air…and you want to charge them to podcast?? They should be able to have
it so that they can tell all of their friends and demand it from the local
outlets!
The programming bar has been lowered beyond my wildest expectations, and
where I used to be able to listen all day, I find that I can only really
stand Rachel (who I would love to see in Springer’s slot and with a
co-host,) a little of Al who is leaving, a tiny bit of Randi,and Jeaneane if
Jeaneane is actually on. But its all on a basis of if-I-catch-it on the car
radio. Its not must-hear go back and podcast it material. So the bar is
lowered on the quality of programming, the Satellite Sisters are added to
the lineup, Jerry Springer is horrible, Riley is just so-so (Maybe I would
prefer to hear Curtis and Kuby if I want NY-centric with an edge,) and now
the Maron show is a no-show.
What is the word?
I know that you are helpless, but perhaps this can be brought to board
members who are interested in the bottom line and numbers. The decisions
being made are unfathomable to anyone I’ve talked to, anyone that I know who
has been a listener, and people who know the business.
I’m interested to find out what the numbers say about this quarter.

The thing to keep in mind is that commercial radio is not about producing product for us to listen to, it’s about delivering ears to advertisers. The programming is the way to do that.
This blog gets, I think, even MORE traffic than the old Morning Sedition blog — mostly because it loads a heck of a lot faster and the damn posts format properly. But your point to Jon Sinton should be well-taken by the Board — if we get disgusted and stop listening to AAR, they won’t have the ears to deliver to advertisers.
As it is now, I used to listen to the “Best of” shows on the weekend, and now, with one droning, boring, overly-earnest show after another, I now listen to WXPK here in NY. When “Ring of Fire” is the most interesting show on the weekend, AAR has a problem.
Either AAR management hasn’t got a frickin’ clue what they’re doing, or else they’re Republican moles trying to kill the concept off and leave the world safe for Limbaugh and Hannity. I am not yet convinced they’re on our side. :rant1::rant1::mad::-(:fu:

I have absolutely and positively had it with Al Franken. He’s spent half a fucking hour with a jerk from the New Yorker, and let himself get browbeaten like one of the weaker liberal nobodies they would ask on to Fcuked “News.”
Franken undercuts every point he makes with pointless laughter — as if he’s so comfy in his job, or so convinced his radio show is his springboard to the Senate, that he doesn’t have to write a joke to start laughing. And in the meantime, his laughter de-claws every serious point he repeats and repeats.
At this moment, Franken and Springer are both so mushy that it creates a six-hour block of dead air for people who want to see an ACTIVE progressive talk radio happen.
I just can’t get over that AAR cancelled Maron, who had new great, motivating material every day, and sold short Mike Malloy for the mainly moderate-conservative Satellite Sisters…all because they paid for their air-time. Why doesn’t Rush Limbaugh just buy time on AAR, if that’s how Goldberg is running the schedule.

Good Morning, fellow Maronistas, from sunny San Francisco (sunny at the moment, our weather varies from hour to hour); almost coming up on 12 noon our time. Took me forever to figure out how to log on again (this is only my second or third time ever being on a blog – thanks for your help again, PJ!). But it gave me time to read most of today’s comments thus far (I know there’ll be more in the queue before this one gets posted, ’cause I’m typing this in between bites of lunch and real work that I’m supposed to be getting paid for). But I had to jump in and see what all my fellow Maron heads are saying. I have to say, I never knew until I read it here Friday that he even had a show actually lined up in L.A., because truly, Marc barely ever sends an email. Not a complaint, I mean he’s got a life, I don’t expect nor want to be inundated with emails from him. I really appreciate the good words for Mark Riley. Mark, if you’re reading, I overslept at my friend’s place in Brooklyn my last trip back in Nov. I had my heart set on coming to the last live show at that restaurant on the west side, but all I am good for at that hour is to reach one arm out from under the covers to turn on the radio (which I parked next to my pillow before falling asleep just in case I couldn’t make it out of the house), so I listened to your last show together with Marc from under the covers, kicking myself for not being a morning person (other than my ears and funny bone).

Sean, my mommy listens to Al and Ed Schultz. She can’t get Randi’s show because she’s never in the car at the right time (she only gets AAR in the car) but she says that what she’s heard she likes.
Then again, when I was a kid and went to anti-war rallies (it was a way different war then) I was always embarrassed because my dad was usually one of the people leading the rally and Mom wasn’t there only because she was manning some kind of pro-choice phone tree.
Here we go with today’s recipe.
(Note that by Georgian this refers to the Republic of Georgia of the Former Soviet Republics, not the Peachtree State….)
Georgian Warm Walnut Dip for grilled vegetables
1/2 cup walnut halves
1 cup plain yogurt
1 egg white
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
1/2 garlic clove, crushed*
pinch paprika
2-3 drops chili sauce.
salt and pepper to taste
Grind walnuts coarsely. Add to remaining ingredients and mix well. Heat over low for 1 to 3 minutes. Be careful not to boil. Serve warm with an assortment of
grilled vegetables for dipping.
* As if anyone can stop at 1/2 a clove of garlic … especially a Georgian. This has to have been a misprint.

First, thanks to all of the people that came out to the Punchline in San Francisco. We had a good time. From where I was standing it was a good mix of new and old material with some real audience weirdness and improvisational noodling.
Second, The Marc Maron Show is in limbo now. The launch dates is not locked in. The communications with Air America and the affiliate out here was not solid and the time and date of the show was not locked in. I was misled about this stuff. We are continuing on with test shows and production. I am anxious and ready but I’m not pissed. I am under contract and being paid to work and we are working. We’ll just have to wait. From what I hear there has been no info on the AAR site about the show. I have no control or power over what goes on or comes out of headquarters. Thanks for your patience and support. I won’t go on about the show anymore until there is a definite schedule.

Oh, by the way, we set a new record yesterday. The previous record for unique visitors in one day was December 16, 2005 (a day that will live in infamy), with 495 unique visitors (700 total visits if you include folks who visited more than once on that day).
February 1st saw 743 total visits (458 unique visitors for the day).
Yesterday, however, we had 530 unique visitors, and 1,100 total visits for the day – both new records..

Like the quail he took his eye off of, Osama and his gang are free as … well, birds, plotting more mayhem.

You know…this Cheney thing gets stranger and stranger. Just watching Hardball and it is so strange that Cheney didnt even call Bush or anyone…the cops wanted ot talk to him and the secret service wouldnt let them. Rove called the woman who owned the ranch to get the information. Why wouldn’t he just come forward and say that this was a terrible accident and this is what happened and no hes going to his friend’s bedside. Instead they all act like something really wrong happend…and they dont even tell the White House about it.
So, its starting to seem that maybe there was some drinking going on and I know that its against the law to brandish a fire arm of any kind while drinking.
Ron Reagan actually threw out the question of whether Cheney had anything against this guy…it was in a joking way, but Matthews said “I cant believe you just said that. Its going to be out there now.” Reagan was just laughing. This whole thing is so fun.
Thank god it wasnt a Supreme…we need the next seat NOT to turn over until there is a Dem in office. One more Bush apointee and we’re finished beyond what we could imagine!

Franken noted that Cheney has had several DUIs in the past, although not recently. Maybe Marc can bring back Recovery Corner when his show starts up – it seems that maybe Dick C. needs to join George W. there.
The other theory is that they wanted to keep it out of the news so that it wouldn’t be a point of discussion on the Sunday talking-heads shows. I think most of those shows tape at least a little in advance, but presumably they could tack on a breaking-news blurb in post-production.
Too bad Halloween isn’t coming up soon. I already have a Cheney mask, so all I would need would be the Elmer Fudd hunting outfit.

I took a hunter safety course (which is odd, since I’ve never hunted), and there were a few absolute rules. You don’t shoot a gun unless you are absolutely certain of what it is you’re shooting at, you don’t shoot unless there’s nothing even remotely in the direction of where you’re aiming, you don’t shoot is your view is even slightly obscured, and you don’t shoot if you can’t clearly see what’s behind what you’re aiming at (like, if there’s a hedgerow and you can’t see behind it, you don’t shoot at something in front of it).
So this Mary Matalin bullshit of he didn’t do anything wrong is crap. And trying to cover it up makes it that much worse.

I was in still in high school and junior college during the Nixon years and not paying attention to politics, just too busy tagging along with the slightly older returning Vietnam vets who were returning to our campuses and streets back then, so even though I’m a bit of an oldster at 48, I’m not quite old enough to analyze that one, Sean. An ex of mine told me several times that Nixon answered a Republican newspaper ad seeking people to run for office in California after the Goldwater defeat, when the Repubs began regrouping and reconstructing their strategy. Guess he (Nixon) was cutting his chops working with McCarthy and HUAC and helping to orchestrate discrete entry visas for Nazi scientists (so says my ex, I haven’t looked this up for myself, but he swears it’s true). I find it a bit incredible the Repubs would place a public ad, I don’t know if the ex got that factoid right.

1. All shooting accidents are investigated by the police, why were the police barred from interviewing Cheney?
2. Why the three hour lag between the shooting and calling for help? Was alchohol involved?

A friend of Cheney was on Matthews tonight (which is being rerun here now, but if youre out west then you have plenty of time,) a senator…and he saisd that the guy had broken the rules of hunting etc…they had started this spin already this morning…blame the victim…and the victim apparently has apologized to Cheney.
The poor guy was shot in the face nect and chest and they took him to the local hospital and everyone was saying he was fine, that he just got in the spray…but then why did they airlift him to a madeical center, put him in intensive care, and do surgery…this wasnt like he got the corner of the shot.
Beyond that, Cheney wouldnt talk to the police initially.
Of course that horrible monster Matalin will come out and spew her garbage…these people are desperate.

I have a lot of the episodes archived in my ITunes Ipod folder, although i do not own an ipod and refuse to buy one. I saw one online that did not have high storage capacity and that was a lot bigger than it needed to be (although I understand that to receive am signal as it requires some bulk – but I’ve got an am/fm radio that i wear around my neck that people keep mistaking for one of those mp3 music players, and it is a lot bigger than those. I’ve read blogs by engineer geeks about this, and they say it’s just being held from the mass market, there’s no good reason other than to make it novel enough to charge huge bucks for it initially). At any rate, Pendejo, whether anarchist or socialist or both, really tickled my funny bone. For those of you who do not speak Spanish, calling someone “pendejo” (pronounced “ped-day-ho”) is the equivalent of calling them a jackass. It’s not for polite company (in either language, I guess).

Also, ex (may I call you ex?), you can use something like tinyurl or snipurl to change big long nasty URL’s to nice short ones (good for e-mailing links when the long ones get broken by the receiver’s email client).
I like tinyurl because there’s a FireFox extension for it, but you can easily make a toolbar button for either of them.
SeanieSean-though I am not exactly as much of an oldster as our ex-ny’er, I’m close, and back in the days of tin foil boots and long uphill walks to school, we had only 4 channels or so, TV ended at around 1AM or so and they played the national anthem and then there was just snow!!…AND, it was black and white.
Now Nixon DID lose an election for many reasons but I guess it turned on his appearance on a televised debate where he sweated profusely. I think I remember that right…I was really little.
As I got older we went through aperiod where the TV lost its sound and would only show a picture if it was laid on its back, we then used another one with no picture for sound. We had to stand around that one and look down.

Anyway, if you were into politics back then, even though alot of what we saw was pretty snowy (until one of my Mom’s artist friends decided to give up TV and sold us her small color Sony…what a day!….)and if you paid attention to what all those farts looked like, Nixon wasnt so different. Old semi-bald men in suits. It wasnt a time when media had exploded but it was sort of the moment it was going to. He had an interesting nose. Of course the Kennedys were beautiful and really shone in b&w, which Nixon couldnt do at all…I dont know how he got anywhere but he was, at least, really smart.

Mathews is so full of shit that I cant watch him half the time but he is getting down to business lately, even though he misses alot of obvious questions in his bluster….
I dont recommend him but I do tend to hear alot of interesting stuff on what I watch…hes on at 5PM and 7PM eastern on MSNBC.
Its a little like Imus…he has great guests even if hes a sucky interviewer and a jerk. If its between the Today show and imus while Im putting some makeup on, I usually check out whats on Imus, and save my Rachel to play in the car later. If Imus has his crew talking or doing comedy I turn it right off…

Ex, I have to say that I am not for war in general but the UN should have gone into Afghanistan and taken the Taliban out years before 9-11…that not having been done, I was also behind the Afghanistan portion of our program. There was a reason for that but it was just late and not with the rest of the world.
Anti Iraq war, Im there…Afghanistan and how the Taliban took over and treated the women and girls…and then Bin Laden hiding there…I dont know if there was a choice considering that he had attacked us and they werent exactly handing him over.

Meline, I’m not convinced Bin Laden carried out 9-11. And anyway, getting Bin Laden, WMD’s, saving the women, all of that, one bs excuse after the other, was just that, bs and excuses. I absolutely disagree that there was any need to go into Afghanistan. And it’s not just that several U.S. administrations nurtured the Taliban (and created Al Quaida from scratch), as some say. That leaves open the idea that well, yeah we may have created them (watch out for that ‘we’ part there – I don’t mean any of us regular working stiffs), but now they’re baddies and we gotta get ’em.
As for the U.N., they are a tool of the U.S. It was U.N. troops, yes, in their nice blue helmets, who shot and massacred, shot down in cold blood, peaceful demonstrating civilians in Haiti very recently, just a month or two ago. Kofi Annan and any U.N. President for that matter, is at the mercy of the U.S., to be smeared or revered in the U.S. press at the click of a cell phone key. Sorry, but we’re on our own. The U.N. is as useless as the League of Nations, and I personally don’t believe that’s by accident.
Ok, I guess I have a conspiracy theory edge there, but shooting on innocent weaponless civilians in cold blood. Can’t overlook that.

Echoing the comments of Liberal Democrats leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, another Russian MP has gone public with his contention that the recent Muslim riots were a staged US provocation in order to swing public opinion in Europe beind supporting an attack on Iran.
Gennady Zyuganov told a news conference that the publication of the offensive cartoons was a “well thought-out major provocation using newspapers and magazines to aggravate the situation, the relationship between the European countries and the Muslim world.”
Zyuganov (pictured below) said that the riots could only benefit the US and that they were “not advantageous for Europe but those who have raised this hysteria, insulted religious feelings of one and a half billion of Muslims, are pushing Europe into the arms of the American military clique.”
Last week, Vladimir Zhirinovsky said that the publication of the offensive cartoons was a planned psyop on the part of the US and aimed to “provoke a row between Europe and the Islamic world”.
“It will all end with European countries thanking the United States and paying, and giving soldiers,” said Zhirinovsky.
Although the riots have largely calmed, the build-up to a military strike on Iran is intense, with newspapers today reporting that the Pentagon had significantly advanced in its planning for bombing raids and submarine-launched ballistic missile attacks on the country.

Right now, Hartmann is just being syndicated, and he’s had his own podcast deal with the White Rose Society. AAR is – they say – adding his podcasts to the premium service. I’ve read speculation (probably not reliable speculation, but that’s the best we seem to be able to do with AAR; these freakin’ people keep more secrets than the Bush administration) that Thom would replace Franken if/when he runs for the Senate.

yeah, ex…its a little too conspiracy theory for me. I think that Bin Laden took responsibility for it and that there was no choice in that part of it. I just dont think that you can do nothing if the evidence is there that the guy did it. Of course, what I know now, I would want to see the evidence….and we also had the support of the whole world back then.
The UN? Im sure that it is screwed up and I dont know about Haiti, except that my son’s best friend and the family are from there and the situation is a mess…I havent researched what happened with the UN and protesters. Its all I can do to keep up with here…Also, the mother is going in April and I am keeping the son here, and Im just very worried because the father has already disappeared there. The mom only speaks creole so its very hard comunicating.

I think if you listen to what Richard Clarke (no dove, he) said, the Bushies were annoyed that they had to go to Afghanistan first. They wanted to go straight for Iraq (better targets to bomb), but figured they ought to at least blow some shit up in Afghanistan first.
Now, the Taliban were no strangers to Texas, having been wined and dined (or whatever they do for kicks in Houston) by UNOCAL, who wanted to put in a natural gas pipeline from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan (which the Taliban turned down but which – surprise, surprise – they’re doing now). There’s some dispute as to whether Hamid Karzai (an initial Taliban supporter, in fact) was once a consultant for UNOCAL.
Well, so there was some money to be made in Afghanistan, even if it wasn’t their first choice.
Whether you think it was a good idea or not, it’s pretty clear that they didn’t secure the country, didn’t catch Osama (oh, and wasn’t it mostly Saudis on those planes?), and basically abandonded the Afghani people to move along and blow some shit up in Iraq (which, again, whether you thought that was a nifty idea or not, they have also screwed up so badly it’s truly amazing; it’s hard to believe they could be so incompetent without really trying. It’s like taking a test – it’s pretty tough to answer every fricking question incorrectly).
Anyhow, there’ll be blowback from all of this, sooner or later. Sooner, if these Mayberry Machiavellians try their hands at invading Iran.

Ex-ny’er, I couldn’t agree with you more about jon stewart’s interviews. he soooooo wants to be liked–or is just too much of a wuss, I’m not sure–that more often than not, when he has a conservative on, he bends over backwards to be nice to him or her. I remember this peggy noonan interview that sent me through the roof (jon kissed up soooo much), because he had just recently been really tough on nadine strossen of the aclu. suffice it to say, the interviews are not my favorite part of the daily show.

I don’t have beucoupe citations at my fingertips (I’ve been at my workdesk all this time, basically committed work theft today to be on this blog, with a few interruptions), but that scandal of the U.N. troops firing on that crowd in Haiti was reported by a few courageous eyewitnesses. There’s all kind of AIFLD/CIA ops going on down there, as in Venezuela, Phillipines, etc. Bernstein is obsessed with getting truthful eyewitness news from Haiti, and I trust his reporters.
Did Bin Laden really ‘admit’ to carrying out 9/11? (Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, what cave have I been hiding in?). Who tells us these things? Why do we believe any of what they tell us? Look at what Sean just posted about this whole cartoon controversy now being reported by a Russian official to be a U.S. psy-op.
The only banding together of countries we have are economic cartels based on trade agreements. The U.N. has some righteous humanitarian projects, but even those are compromised by the shifting political interests of the Big 7 (or is it Big 11 now that the old east European bloc countries are in?), weakly countered by shifting and opportunist alliances of the ‘minor’ countries. The U.N. is a capitalist pawn. There, I’ve said the I word and the C word (and not the four letter c word either). I say let’s stop making small weak countries the pawns of us bigger more powerful countries, this miliarism is killing us too – the U.S. and Europe owe enormous reparations for the enslavement and mammoth thievery and devastation we’ve inflicted on the smaller weaker countries. :fist:

Debating or even disheartening morons is a distraction and waste of time. Even the people that seem to agree with how we think don’t ever really seem to get the whole point. I’ve noticed a lot of college kids around here are anti-bush and anti-republican without ever really understanding the reasons that they should be. It’s like they are being contrary just for the sake of being contrary. It seems as though you might be coming around to the idea that the democratic party wouldn’t be much better. We need to raze the whole system and rebuild from the ground up. No worrying about fascist zombies, no ineffectual liberal jerkoffs, just good old fashioned (older than America) representative democracy (with socialist accents… you know, like baloon valances). Anyway I’m done now, back to the drudgery that my school life has become.
