This has been one very long week. In fact, I can’t even remember last weekend, it was so long ago. And now they tell me this weekend is Easter (which, if memory serves, must mean today is Good Friday, though I don’t see where getting nailed to a cross qualifies as a ‘good’ day, but then that Catholic shit never really took with me).
Life with a puppy (even one as good as this one is) is pretty tiring. Instead of having an entourage of one big dog and two cats, I’m now followed everywhere I go by a big dog, two cats, and a puppy. I haven’t even had much time to play with my new Chumby (which is really pretty cool, I must say).
Oh well, at least I get to finish out my week in my preferred location, where I can come home for lunch, and be out at four o’clock. So let’s get this day going already.
Damn, I wanted this on friday 😐
Friday AM “Pup Talk”

Aw. Little Annabel sounds like a handful. Chessies are tough, I hear.

AAAARRRRGGGG
Whatever :sheep: le

You could always make like Mitt Romney and tie some of them to the roof of the car. Be prepared for extra car-washing expenses, though.
:pup:
PJ, holy shit! Syracuse vs. Akron if the Zippies beat UMass tomorrow afternoon. Which is a pretty big if, but WTF, they beat FSU in Tallahassee.
Maybe on a Good Friday, it would be appropriate (in the spirit of Malloy) to quote a little bible verse so close to the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things which the LORD hates,
Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that run rapidly to evil,
19 A false witness who utters lies,
And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds (R-N.Y.) announced yesterday that he will not seek another term in office, becoming the latest member of the former GOP leadership team to step down in the past two years.
Reynolds is the fifth departing member of the Republican leadership team that ran the House with an iron fist for 12 years until Democrats took control in the 2006 election. His decision also was another blow to Republican chances against Democrats, who appear likely to widen their majority with more than two dozen GOP seats coming open this year.
Demoralized, underfinanced and facing a criminal investigation of their campaign committee’s former treasurer, 29 House Republicans have announced in the past year they will not run for reelection, have decided to seek another office or have simply quit midterm.

It’s petty windy on Shelter Island. The locust trees in the woods behind he house grow very tall and skinny. The rain has softened the ground and the trees tilt menacingly toward the house. Four have come down, already this year. So far, they have landed in the yard and not on the roof. I hope that trend continues.
Last year Afghanistan produced 90 percent of the world’s opium and its derivative, heroin — more than at any time in the country’s history. The only major drug traffickers held in the new prison wing were allowed to escape. And a special international fund for motivating Afghan leaders to eradicate poppies has barely been touched, according to international officials involved in Afghan anti-drug efforts.

It looks as if the war on drugs is doing as well as all the other policies of Bushco.
Hey, Kevin, you should come up for the game if the Zips win. Tickets are only $10, and you can actually get decent seats for these games. Plus the rich, stick-in-the-mud season ticket holders that get all the good seats in the regular season stay home, so you can hoot and holler all you want. They got 15,000 people last night, which is a nice small intimate crowd.
And if the Zips win, you can just stop in to Madison Square garden on your way back down. Just think, it could be Akron v. Ohio State in the finals!
Obama is really getting beaten up in this Wright flap. Every night Faux news talks about it and the righties write about it. (Righties write about Wright.) Obama made a great speech. But, he needs to fight back. An American election is not an intellectual activity. He needs to show that he can effectively fight that well oiled and practiced smear machine if he wants to be the Democratic nominee, because I don’t want to see Pres. McCain.
I’m sure it’s the whitey righties that right about Wright. Right?
Damn, I just realized I’m paying 15.3¢ a kWh for electricity. Granted, I pay 1.3¢ extra for 60% wind, 40% low-impact hydro, but still.
Looking at this chart, we here in the Northeast are getting screwed (as usual). Time to get the solar panels installed, and hook up the treadmill and the exercise bike (and the dogs tails) to a generator.
I knew you could do better with that than I, PJ. Kudos!
How about we put the dogs on the treadmills?
I figured I’d get Granny on the treadmill. Then I just need somebody to volunteer for the bike.
I do believe I am finally here. My Computer said No … BUT Bill Play’d on so I finally learned not to turn the Computer off. even if acting “weirly normal” and is froZen; so therefore, at least I heard one of my few programs left I listen to. :fist: A!I!V! :tap:
KP, to the people to whom Rev. Wright is a problem, righty fundamentalism is not.
Did I post yesterday my feeling regarding the family? I believe I did. Unk if put here since one about Obama on the other one then HILLAY’s (I think) went here — then COMPUTER FROZE AGAIN :omg: :fist: :growl: so I think I will repost both since one has to do with major questions I would like to hear OTHER’s thoughts. :smack:
[hmmmmmmmm]
I also do not think the problem is Obama vs Hillary. It’s Obama versus McCain.
The right, not Hillary, the Dems a or the left, is pushing this crap.
The Family has TOTALLY changed my mind regarding Sen. Clinton Now I HATE both. :fist: A!I!V!
…and now I vaguely remember — why originally I was for Obama.
They both are Liars is why I THINK:
SINCE both are HORRID SOLE/SOUL CHRISTIAN Believers, THUS For Both Liars Put her as Prez & him as VP.
My First Amendment Right’s post is why :spank: really NEEDS to be VP first. :spank:
I just want to flee. 😯
“FLEE” AND get :bong: & :alc: . And it is FRIDAY :pirate: :yippee: :bong: :alc: :dancers: … :pirate: A!I!V! 😀 😆 8)
Nobody’s allowed to flee. I don’t wanna be left here all alone. 😐
On the bright side, I set my Chumby to wake me up in the morning with sedition radio. It’s almost like the old days.
Druid, that is the problem with long elections. Everyone gets beaten up, slips and shows, his or her worst traits. ‘Tis best not to fall in love with any pol, because they are sure to disappoint.
But, I think there is a larger issue. While neither Obama nor Clinton is the left’s deliverer, either will do some important stuff and move us in a little better direction. We’ll move toward universal health care and away from attacking Iran. The tax structure will be less skewed toward the rich. We’ll move toward renewable energy and begin to do something about climate change. None of it will be enough, but any of it will be better than McCain who will continue to go to war and hand the world to the corporations.
I think we need to keep on keeping on.
Yeah, neither Obama nor Clinton would have vetoed SCHIP, Federal funding for Stem Cell Research, or a bill not granting telecoms retroactive immunity. Neither is likely to appoint the next Antonin “Fat Tony” Scalia (those Opus Dei people scare me). And I hope like hell neither will attack Iran.
Although, I did enjoy Opus Dei and the Nights’ version of ‘Shout’ in Animal House.
I fooled around with a couple of these but for me it was the shell that came with Central Point Software’s PCTools for Windows V2.
Nirvanna
Oh, I have OS/2 in the original box at home. Ran Windows better than Windows. 32-bit, had drag and drop, nice GUI, much better than anything Apple or MS had going on at the time.
Well, I found my First Amendment “bit of a rant”, but not about The Family, but copy should be somewhere 🙄 ….. I shake.
both are strange … but if I were forced to vote for someone TODAY, then now it is Obama. I had not made up my mind until I researched (damn I got to post my info re Obama here :smack: ) and after almost 2 weeks of hearing Hillary bashing, and I started playing a “devil’s advocate” in the rather heated 5-10 to 1 (the one being me) — especially since I had found out many toxic things regarding Sen. Obama.
I was completing 1 and working on several projects and then MANY IN SEDERVILLE, including me, had many deaths in
thiertheir family even of FRIENDS, so after many days of the debate I had to finish on TIME my 1 project. As I was departing, they were a few that started speaking pro Hill, so I “touched” in every now & then when they were being “piled” upon (or sign in to just let them know I was Lurking — since dem folk knew ).
A part of me just NEEDS to focus more on my work and not that site. It is not like this Marc Maron (and my first 😳 first giggle :dancers: ) site. :pirate: :pup: :cat: :billcat: :yippee:  A!I!V!
I am “normal” { kinda} :dancers: cuz I run WINDOWS :dancers: :tap: A!I!V!
So, is there anybody whose passport file hasn’t been peaked at?
Chem. final exam in ’bout a half-hour :billcat:
Oh, and those redox reactions that I didn’t know how to do are simple.
Now I just hope I can remember everything from the beginning of the course
Good luck, Travis.

They BOTH Broke The Rules!
I am a Druid (state calls me, I am my own church — IOW Wherever I am is the Church)
I WAS HONOURABLE (but no longer). I do not take My TAX-EXEMPT RIGHTS solely because I speak out and protest and taken over things and got arrested tooooooooo many times … but if most of you are saying that Minister can say even GOD DAMN AMERICA …. so I can now stand, saying to those that walk with me and from “in my pulpitâ€, GOD[S] DAMN THOSE BY THEIR ACTIONS **in a sacred space*** … I told some here why I needed to do more than float at 2d Life — it was to JUST be there just as another faith, since the Pope is proclaiming to all Arch-Bishops and Bishops to go on 2d city and the different BLOGS and PROSELYTIZE, and now, I get to juice it up a bit AND PROSELYTIZE..
I would not have a “church-ite” before BECAUSE I speak out (LOUDLY & PROUDLY) against the WRONGS done by this Gov’t, especially in protests in 80’s. For YEARS I did not use MY TAX E. Status because I, too, wanted to say GOD DAMN AMERICA and, that type of vitriol in a sacred environment, and according to the law surrounding this: whomever wears the mantle one must adhere to the LAW of the First Amendment..
So as of next Sunday (actually, any day is sacred) I can speak out like Rev Wright. I have had national & international contact with those of my Faith recently and told them to “stand-by” since I can now speak freely – from a pulpit.. So All The Money, well someone has to pay or tell Minister Wright he has to PAY BACK ALL MONIES for the full time of 20 plus years or I get TONS OF MONEY. Because I am not amused – SINCE I COULD HAVE, ALROUND 30 YEARS MYSELF., and hand in his ministry with Obama unable to run, because OBAMA is a LIAR! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, because the only reason I didn’t collect my T E.S. was IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW TO BE SO VERBAL A REVERND. They could have TAKEN MY TITLE if I used for it to talk politics, as Obama’s FAMILY Minister DID. I am calling today many places to COMPLAIN about ALL THIS! hmmmmm. DECADES, that minister and this Gov’t stole from me — BECAUSE I PLAYED FAIR , the Gov’t, Obama. And His Family Minister DID NOT!
TRAV :pirate: :yippee: :knit: IS

pj get rainbow six 2 😛
There is nothing about separation of church and state that prohibits religious figures speaking about social issues and the politics involved with doing something about them .in church .
A lot of churches conduct forums in the months before an election presenting there congregations with the issues .. It is usually a good idea to present both sides .. Political candidates have even spoken at these forums .. again both sides have to at least be invited to speak.
The issue is in endorsing a candidate or seriously criticizing one by name from the pulpit not talking politics from the pulpit .. Thats what these IDIOT MORON talkers seem to not know much about . :reaper: :reaper:
Jeff Sharlet from the story above is on Hartmann with PeterB subbing.
The only thing the government can take away from a church for its politics is its 5013C status or cause them to spend $$$ better spent on social issues on lawyers fees to get the IRS to STFU.. its not a crime ..to speak politics from the pulpit and if you are not a 5013C organization WTFCs
A lot if UU churches are not even 5013C organizations.. In most communities they are usually the most politically active of all the main line denominations. :reaper: :reaper:
Hey Sean. Yeah, Rainbow Six 2 looks like it might be pretty cool. Do you have it? I’m just trying to get through the first one for the second time. I just go the computer at the dam hacked during lunch. Had a harder time with that this time than I did the first time (but had an easier time getting the computer hacked in Dante’s Theater. Go figure).
WOW Petter B Miller (i think  he is to DLC-ish) just answered by questions about Hillary. He saw that the Mother Jones guy (reporter) was hyping the article.
SHE is/was a “friend” of The Family, when she first came to WashingtonDC so far I am staying with Her but :fu: the both are horrid on COAL!!!!!!!
GORE ONLY!!! A!I!V!
In an interview that will appear in this Sunday’s New York Times Magazine, controversial televangelist Rev. John Hagee declares, “It’s true that [John] McCain’s campaign sought my endorsement.”
McCain has attempted to distance himself from some of Hagee’s views, much as Barack Obama is doing in relation to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. But unlike McCain, Obama has not stood on stage with Wright and accepted his accolades this year.

Non-profit status for a church is a pretty big deal, if it’s any size at all. They’d be screwed if they had to pay property taxes (generally talking about a big ‘mainstream’ church with property – especially in a city with high real estate values; imagine what the property tax bill for St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan would be – some little snakehandler shack in Mississippi probably wouldn’t be much affected).
But trying to figure out what’s political speech, and what’s social commentary isn’t easy. Sure, if a preacher stands up and says, “vote for Joe Smith,” that’s political. But what if a Catholic Priest says “if you’re a good Catholic, you shouldn’t vote for somebody who supports abortion” (without actually naming somebody)? Is that political speech? Or how about “you shouldn’t vote for somebody who doesn’t support helping the poor, housing the homeless, feeding the hungry?”
Does standing up and saying “Hillary Clinton doesn’t know what it’s like to be called a n****r” (or saying that Barack Obama doesn’t know what it’s like to be called a cold-hearted bitch) constitute political speech? Or is it just a rather obvious statement?
Perhaps if one said “A certain white women candidate running for president” instead of mentioning her by name would be ok ??
The catholics usually get there policies from Rome so the person just reads doctrine as sent to them from the top . :reaper: :reaper:
I was just referencing Druid’s thought they would de ministerize her if she spoke out .. The government can’t do that ….
The property tax issue is very important to the 5013C organization. A lot of these independent Fundie churches are actually non profit corporations by the nature of their charter..and hence are protected by the same BS that protects EXXON Mobile from law suits …..they also seem to have a disproportionate number of lawyers in their congregations who will work for the church for free.
The catholics have their property owned by the church in Rome . which is its own “state” as such .
There is some issue with the ability of a state or local government to tax property or anything for that matter owned by a foreign government.. embassy’s are for example exempt .. their automobiles are net even licenseable 😮
The Chinese are buying up a lot of these repros when they go to auction… The local governments are living in fear of a collapse of their tax base . :reaper: :reaper:
Former Gov. Eliot Spitzer has gone into therapy in the wake of the hooker scandal that swept him out of office, a Spitzer insider told The Post yesterday.
As part of the therapy, Spitzer will explore whether he has an addiction to sex, the source said.
http://www.nypost.com/seven/03212008/news/regionalnews/eliot_s_sexual_healing_102869.htm
So what can the IRS do to a church who incorporates in the south pacific someplace ..???
They could always challenge the IRS and ask for the hearings to be in the country of incorporation. :reaper: :reaper:
The issue is in endorsing a candidate or seriously criticizing one by name from the pulpit not talking politics from the pulpit .. Thats what these IDIOT MORON talkers seem to not know much about . :reaper: :reaper:

I guess I am from the Ol’ School. Speaking about politics from the pulpit just was not done.
I was advised DECADES ago using a political persons name or stating complaints about the government would lead to pulling “the license” and I am tooooo politcal and have violated these standings even outside of a (my form of) church. The Last Time I filed for Tax-Exempt for certain ECO, and Environmental Org was in the 80’s — never for my Tax-Exempt Status for a church. Bloody Hell ❗
They could NEVER take my credentials but I could not speak from a pulpit (or what my faith dictates) and that the only reason other faiths could is that they HAVE MONEY but I was a little nothing so The Gov’t could even have ME ARRESTED if I spoke my more ‘cursing’ (which is what Rev Walker said) about the President and others
I am ssorry I am sounding so dull – I think my probation is now over.
 Thank You Fred
FRED & PJ, I will copy all ❗
 I use to do this type of crap.
I have to get BACK IN STEP. My mind has to be shifted into “YOU ARE BACK IN TOWN YOU TWIT” (She fears….”but I may never be able to get in step again.”
The rules apply to all 501c3’s. One cannot endorse or advocate for or against a candidate, but there are further restrictions on political activities . This administration has pushed the envelope so that political speech is interpreted more narrowly if it helps a Rethug.
There was a time that saying, “Don’t vote for a pro-choice candidate.” would have been verboten.
:yippee: I think I passed the final. I forgot stuff that I should have known. Like this simple mole question.

Sadly, I doubt I could get the time off work with this little notice, but if they win tomorrow I may have to give it a shot on Monday morning. I don’t think I’ve seen a Zips game in person since I was in school. You know, back when Naismith was coach. 😀
What’s the weather like in Syracuse today? Remember that I haven’t been north of the Florida state line in over 20 years (although I have been west of it), and the nice thick blood I had when I moved down here has wussified considerably.
As for Ohio State, at one point during football season I was looking forward to seeing them play USF in the national championship game. So I’m not getting my hopes up for them just yet.
Although, I did enjoy Opus Dei and the Nights’ version of ‘Shout’ in Animal House.

That quite possibly is the worst pun ever posted on this blog.
And I’m really pissed that you beat me to it!
:rofl2:
(OK, not really.)
As for churches, let them start paying their property taxes and they can enjoy all the free speech they want. So there.
Anybody remember Rex Humbard? He died a few years ago, but he used to be pastor of a church in Ohio called the Cathedral of Tomorrow. Big round place. He had a very successful TV ministry for decades. He didn’t pay property tax, because the church owned the land it was built on.
He also didn’t pay property tax on his TV station, buffet restaurant, college or bra factory, all of which he owned at some point. Yes, I said bra factory. Seriously.
Granted, it’s been a long time since I cracked open a Bible, but I honestly don’t remember Jesus having much to say in favor of not taxing bra factories.
:boobs:
Blessed be the brassieres, that they may hold the bouncing breastises fast and true.
:pope:
What the fuck does that mean, too many gays? She can bite me. :hubba: Doesn’t she have a place in West Palm Beach and used to hang out in Key West.
A young Bob Cray was in that Animal House band.
Not that I listen to Randi much but it seems to me that I heard her say that she met a guy on the cruise from SF and that he was the perfect guy and he is gay.
Sour grapes :knit:
Veteran journalist Chris Wallace admonished Fox & Friends over their characterization of a comment in which Obama referred to his grandmother as a “typical white person.”
“I love you guys, but I want to take you to task if I may respectfully for a moment,” Wallace began. “I have been watching the show…, and it seems to me that two hours of Obama-bashing on this ‘typical white person’ remark is somewhat excessive, and frankly, I think you’re somewhat distorting what Obama had to say\
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Chris_Wallace_Two_hours_of_Obama_0321.html
Actually, when I used to listen, I thought this might be Randi’s MO.
Wallace knows he works for Fox, right? (Or maybe not, after this.)
Did he visit Oz for some courage?
Chris Wallace defending Barack Obama. Wow. Next thing you know, they’ll be putting mascara on Rachel Maddow.
The weather up here isn’t bad, Kev, but not what you’re used to down there. It got up to about 30 today and it was sunny, but very windy, so there was a bit of a bite in the air at times. Actually quite pleasant for going out for walkies (at least by my standards). But then, I would be miserable with the heat you guys get. It’s all what you get used to, I reckon.
Ha! That’s pretty funny, Vernon. I’d never heard that term before. “Dyke tyke” is pretty good, too. But I think ‘hag’ is a bit more offensive than tyke. Gotta go with what rhymes, though.
Kevin M & Vernon (LBH :rofl2: )
Kevin M : While exercising I saw Chris Mattews groping Ellen Degeneras (by accident)
But see MY “Church can be somewhere and just the “church” has to pay taxes. COOL 8)
Vernon : Oh Rats…. yea, yea, yea “fag hag”…down south — at a certain time I was called fag hag cuz one man that was my great friend and dance partner (mostly in school) especially since I was very tired of getting “hit upon” so I went with him to gay bars.
The other women did not get that he was “gay” and hated me. But that was many moons ago. I was hoping it was that 80’s (I think)
video song about how crazy busy this chick is. just 😡 . Her name was something like Karrie McC????? but I haven’t been able to find.
