I don’t know if you’ve heard about this, but…
EXCLUSIVE: Seems Barack Obama is coming to L.A. this week for more than just Hollywood cash. After big-bucks fundraisers at Chuck Lorre and Tyler Perry’s not-inconsiderable Pacific Palisades and Beverly Hills pads on Thursday, the leader of the free world is going to spend a little bit of time on Friday morning in a garage in Highland Park doing a podcast. Of course, the fact that the garage is the HQ of the widely downloaded WTF With Marc Maron probably sweetens the appeal for the President, who is making his debut on the show.
The plan is that before Obama jumps on Air Force One on June 19 to head up to San Fran for more Democratic Party fundraisers, the pop culture-conscious POTUS will swing by the comedian’s garage studio in the morning for a just over one-hour sit-down. The White House reached out to Maron’s team a couple of weeks back to set up the interview, sources tell me. The commercial-free podcast with the President is set to be posted online June 22. As is fitting the office, and like most of the WTF episodes, Obama will be Maron’s only guest for Friday’s taping. Having teased something “massive” coming up the past few days, Maron will announce the presidential visit on Thursday’s podcast, which hits the Internet very early this AM.
OK. I am speechless.
It’s really pretty amazing. I figured Obama more for a Nerdist kinda guy. But then, from what I heard, he really didn’t know anything about “Between Two Ferns,” but when he told his daughters about that one, they were pretty psyched. So maybe they’re WTF fans. More likely, some of the staffers are.
Either way, it has to really piss Seder off, so that’s cool.
You know Seder is a little frosted.
Maron’s having quite a week. When he’s done with POTUS, he’s going to be on with Maher Friday night.
I wonder how he’s going to open the podcast Monday “Okay, how you doin’ you fuckabillies, fucksters, fuckobamabots”! ?
He toned it down a bit for Terry Gross.
Slaughtered Charleston victims.
Wow1 I can’t wait.
Curiosity drove me to look in on Fox’s morning show where Steve Doocey and the other two dopes were denying that the S.C. shooting was motivated by racism. Instead they said it was an assault on Christians. (Not including, I’m sure, that marxist Pope Francis.) The NRA was busy blaming it on the lack of guns. I think we’re doomed
To this second, I still get shocked by things. My family moved from WVa to RVa in 1964. I knew I was in a whole new situation. Maybe there was racism in WVa but just about everybody was in the same boat. In RVa, the ‘south’ was alive and ‘celebratin” the Civil War centennial. Never had a doubt in my mind what that ‘stars and bars’ shit was all about, it was so ubiquitous everywhere and in our schools. No doubt at all!
Yeah, well, I see that 13-yr NRA Board member Charles Cotton blames South Carolina state Sen. Clementa Pinckney (a pastor and one of the nine people murdered) for his vote against concealed-carry.
Gotta love this article’s title:
White Supremacists Worried Charleston Shooting Makes Them Look Bad
marcmaron The President forgot his coffee.
Jim Earl, predictably, is not impressed.
And in the NYT’s:
Marc Maron Discusses His Podcast Interview With President Obama
No Maron on Maher last night. His name was on the ‘next week’ trailer at the end of the show last week.
Last night’s show went by pretty fast as I had to fast forward through anytime Anne Coulter was on-screen so that I wouldn’t
Yeah, when I saw she was on, I didn’t even think about getting the show. I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but the last few times I watched, I didn’t find Bill very funny, and his insistence on “balancing” the show by allowing winguts to lie and talk over the other guests makes the show mostly unwatchable for me. So I haven’t watched in a while.
It looks like Gutiérrez ended up in the Maron chair. I hope Marc got an executive dispensation note. I do not know why Maher keeps having on Matt Lewis. I kind of understand Coulter.
Yes, I read about last night’s Maher show, rather than watch it, to spare my stomach, too.
Oh good. I’m glad I’m not the onlhy one who avoids the vile Coulter. When I saw she was on I just didn’t watch. And, I agree that Mahar is not the sharpest. He doesn’t have enough information to argue. He’s smug, too.
#WHUT a long strange trip it has been.
